Words and rhyme - game

It takes real perseverence
to find one these days
A pity it was decided to phase
them out, on the assumption that everyone carried a mobile

Ice cream sandwiches are a longstanding tradition. The classic is vanilla ice cream and chocolate cookies. You probably haven't noticed them because of the chocolate.

They aren't messy to eat as long as the cookies are soft so they don't crumble as you bite into them.
I vaguely recall a treat that was squares of ice-cream-cone material with the vanilla filling, but not using cookies. Are they eaten by hand? And doesn't the ice cream melt and run out? (Or am I picturing that just because I'm a slow nibbler when I eat. My parents and brothers used to tease me by calling for the cat because there was a mouse in the dining room. )

The chocolate cookie/vanilla ice cream ones were (are still?) rectangular and were eaten by hand. I don't remember the ice cream melting being a problem, but I never tried eating them in really hot weather.

If it's hot enough, dripping can be a serious problem with cones as well. I have switched from a cone to a disposable cup due to ambient temperature changes. My family followed suit on a recent occasion when the temperature was in the high 30s.
