Some of the spins looked like they might not have been level 4s, so she may have lost points there. I don't think there were any URs on the jumps, though the lutz may have received !.

I am ok with the score.

Sadly, if anything the tech panel was lenient on her... very hard to see but other tech panels may have dinged her 3Lz and the 2nd 3T... the spins were a bit slow and it seemed like she exited them too soon. Also she's a little too insular and there's a lack of precision in quite a few places. The work she's putting into getting the jumps to stick seems to be taking time away from working on other areas that need worked on.

I wouldn't even be a fan of figure skating if it weren't for Yulia, but I'm skeptical that she can really make it back into top medal contention. I think she should be able to get at least one Grand Prix assignment next year, but after that I'm skeptical. Some people really need to sit down with her and plot her eventual transition away from top level skating. I think it's important that she keeps fit and has a way of making a living into the far future. I think retiring from international competition while still competing in internal Russian competitions to stay in shape could be an interesting option for her.

I think it's because it's a "b" competition. Roberta Rodeghiero won the Sportland Trophy last week with personal best TES in both the SP and FS, but considerably lower PCS than she received at Europeans. And Julia's score wasn't bad at all. I wish her good luck for the FS!
 
Interesting that the combo didn't get the bonus. And other than that I think she should have received at least a call on the lutz, but then her PCS were on the conservative side, so I think it evened out the score.

I think before saying that her career is over maybe you should take a look at what she accomplished with her three months of training with a new coach. And let's not forget she was sick for days, had set backs on her preparation for the competitions and while a lot of other skaters were only training she is in her third competition and steadily improving. To write her off now that she has an actual team backing her again is just silly.

Thank you for the insightful reply. I did watch the video at 8am this morning while being half asleep after only four and a half hours of sleep so I thought maybe I missed something. But after looking at the protocols for the others, I think it's a decent enough score. 11 points ahead and 6 points more in PCS. (It should be a full point higher though, I saw some 6 and that's absurd.)

Yulia lost a point on that, 0.84 on the bonus and is the GOE different since it would be calculated from 9.46 rather than 8.60? Is there anything we can do about this? Even a point could matter on the Season's best score.
 
I don't think we can do much. The same happened with her combo in the FS at the RCF, she performed it a second or two before the bonus time started and she lost it, I think the same happened here. But they probably are going to push the combos further in the future. I doubt it can hurt her too much now, though.

When does the bonus start? I thought it was at half of 2 min 50 seconds (1min 25 seconds) regardless of whether or not the program was shorter?

Yulia program started at 14/15 seconds and she started the 3-turn at 1 min 47/48 seconds. That's 1 min 33 seconds into the program. She should have had 8 seconds to spare. And the program is exactly 2 min 50 seconds, anyway, from 14 seconds to 3 min 4 seconds.

Poor her, she must be disappointed - but now she has a lot of time to work and don't need to worry about competing - unless Alexei still wants to see her go clean in both programs. I liked the step sequence, though. This was not the way she wanted to compete a last time, probably, this season.
 
She warmed up intensely. And yes, she looked really disappointed, I think she should probably compete again soon.
