Yulia Lipnitskaya

She won't get even one spot?... Hard to believe. She's still a great marketing deal. I'm sure there are fans who would go just to see her.

She may choose not to compete on any level. We still don't know the outcome of the fall before Nationals. Here is a quote from her most recent interview (Dec. 2016, p. 747 #11191, thanks louisinsane): I would make only one wish: to give me a million of wishes, because I dream of plenty of things about my life now. I'd like to see her include shows and youtube performances after she retires from competitions.

As it seems, Yulia will get no GP next year. The question whether to continue or not will stand in front of her. I'm afraid to know the answer taking into account the mood of those lines...Yulia is my favorite of all times. No one can substitute her for me.

No GP spot, what??? Unbelievable! :dev2: :palmf: I think she should be given at least one (if she's feeling better of course).

NC89! Your translation is perfect, but it doesn't reflect the depression which is heard in the original :( I think, no one can translate this depression from language into language...

But she can to get an invitation, right?. I think Mao is in the same situation :(

The original is more depressing? When I read her Ask I thought Tarkovsky, poignancy that possesses. The mood of those lines plus the mood of her recent interview you translated (p. 747 #11191). We don't have to imagine.
I might be a bit exaggerating but yeah...it is very depressive :( I am depressive too after the Russian Junior Nationals. More and more new girls, the competition is getting stronger and stronger...though it is already a hellish mincing-machine.

Of course, we must hope for the best but be ready for the worst. It seems that three female junior skaters are passing to the seniors next season. Tsurskaya, Konstantinova and Zagitova. They will get 2 spots each. Medvedeva, Radionova, Pogorilaya, Sotskova, Tuktamysheva, Leonova will also get 2 spots each due to the high SB and their positions in standings. So 18 spots are distributed. No place for Yulia (she has a very low SB and she will go down in the standing at the end of the season).

I insist in a country change. To skate for Russia right now is masochism

Marketing or not Yulia most likely won't meet the requirements which are necessary to qualify for GP Series. This year her the best performance was Ondrej Nepela and even there her FS TES was less than 45. Also after this season we will have some very talented Juniors ready to face Seniors.

But what about she would skate at some smaller competitions like last year for example Cup of Russia final , or Cup of Tyrol , or another one like this. If she would give good performance she could possibly qualify for next season GP ? Or did she finished her season already ?

According to information of some insider from FSO, the season is over. Yulia undergoes medical treatment somewhere in Europe. After the treatment is over, she will decide what to do further...

Oh , this is actually sad.... because as I see it next season will be all about the Olympics , and honestly I dont think so there would be any chance for Julia. With all those perfect junior girls ( Zagitova, Konstantinova, Tsurskaya....) plus Zhenya , Anna , Maria ..... I think even for Elena will be very hard to get in the top 3. If Julia will not be at any GP , then we can see her maybe at some B competitions , and then after Olympics... probably not .

It truly is. It is heart-breaking. I desperately hope she will continue somehow, competing somewhere...There is no one skating like her...even remotely reminding her.

She could have retired immediately after Sochi and still have had a career many other skaters, past, present, or future, could only dream of. I'm pretty sure Pyeongchang isn't happening, but then again, I am usually pessimistic by nature. Unless she calls it quits, I won't completely give up on her.

Don't know what possessed me, but tonight I watched her Skate Canada and Europeans "Schindler's List" skates (again!). I will be really sad if I never get to see her skate again! I was so looking forward to seeing her this year at Skate America and was really disappointed when it didn't happen.

all the updates make sad. I selfishly hope she will keep skating. I desperately fall for her for this past months and i will wait for her. Recently I watch her Russian National 2015 sp over and over. So matched with my feel lol, can't help falling in love.
Still hoping Yulia for Pyongchang 2018 :cheer:

With all due respect, if Leonova can compete, so can Julia. Providing she is healthy, no injuries.

Lipnitskaya has this kind of innate, distinctive grace, that makes her presence so elegant, almost aristoctatic, if you know what I mean. She's not "in your face", but rather up there on the ice for you to "discover" her.
It's completely different than let's say Adelina and Elena, who are wonderful, super attractive performers, but lacking that special mystique and aura, that Julia has.
I'm pretty sure some people like it that way, some the other - personally, I find Julia "reserved" skating endlessly fascinating.
