Yulia Lipnitskaya

Dang, Ladies are getting less and less interesting to me... You will be extremely missed Julia :sad21:

What saddens me more is the hardship she went through....
I had suspicions that that was what her treatment was for, instead of a physical injury and I just can't imagine what she went through, how deep the routes to her problem were and how long she was fighting. It's not easy to put a condition like this behind you, and I hope she surrounds herself with people who'll help her forward. It wasn't easy, going through a career like this at such a young age.
All my love is with her

She's only 19. The fire will rekindle.

I wish it would, but tt doesn't really matter if it will. The new generation of female skaters are bringing quads and triple axels, she won't (or most of the senior ladies) be able to compete with them or return to the top...

Unless they introduce some kind of public vote component, so she would win easily every time... :p:handw:

It was on the cards, but it's still sad to hear it.
I hope Julia will be happy and healthy in the future.

She is a true artist.
She will be missed.
It was always a priviledge to see her.

That picture you you took of her and Eteri in the KnC at Finlandia 2013-14 will always be one of my favorites! I only wish I could have seen her live.

She notified the Russian Ice Skating Federation (FKKR) about her decision to retire after Lipnitskaya returned from a three-month treatment for anorexia in Europe. Lipnitskaya may not be fit enough to go through the Olympic season and she also knows that the competition is so tough that it's difficult to get into the Olympic team.

Coincidentally, Adelina Sotnikova will also miss the Olympic season due to the fact that she has not fully recovered from the ankle injury that she suffered a few years ago. Plushenko said she was wrongly diagnosed by the first doctor who treated her.

Really sad. I saw something pop up on Youtube and when I saw that it was a Russian news program about Yulia, I knew it was her retirement.

I'm really shocked about the anorexia. That's just horrible:( Makes the bizarre rumours about her being pregnant even worse.

I hope Yulia will recover completely and find some way to look back on the skating period of her life with happiness.

It seems her mom had enough so decided to make everything clear, now we know how inappropriate these comments about her weight were and that Lyudmila Kovaleva information about receiving salary was false (sadly some people doesn't know about this situation and think her mom told about it because she's complaining that Yulia doesn't receive salary :( )
I hope Yulia and her mom will have now some peace in life.

I am deeply saddened by the news but I wish Yulia all the happiness in the world. She was a truly amazing artist and lit up the whole arena with her skating. She was never afraid to be different and authentic in everything that she did and that she continues to do. As cheesy as it sounds, she inspired me to be me and be true to what I am. She'll always be loved and missed [thousands of heart emojis here].

I'm so sorry to hear this news, but wish her all the best. Of course her health is paramount - but I will miss her. Be well & happy, Julia!

The youngest Olympic athlete in the history of women's singles at the age of 15 she, together with our team won gold for Russia and brought our team 20 points out of 20 possible! The great athlete who did not quit the Olympics in 2014, but continued her sports career, speaking on official starts, struggled, overcoming trauma and psychological barriers! Yulechka, life goes on, you are a good girl, hard worker. You are a little legend who brought female Russian figure skating to the highest level after a long stagnation! I'm proud of you and always close! 💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻

This little warrior carried herself with more dignity, bravery and honour than we deserve. I will miss her terribly. Farewell and best of luck baby girl. Hope to see you thrive and conquer in the arena of life. All the best, and thankyou thankyou THANKYOU <3

It's sad beyond description  Yulia is an amazing skater and a true artist, it's so sad that she has to retire so early. I will miss her very much - but her health must come first. I wish our Yulenka all the happiness in life! Her programs will stay forever in our hearts :luv17: I hope that we will see her in shows someday (when she is full healthy again).

If the anorexia is resolved, I am not sad in the least. She is liberating herself from a life that she often spoke of leaving, even as being very cruel. Always a master of symbols, she shows us her state of mind in the three most recent photos on Instagram. An abandoned woman's bike leaned against an iron fence, a fence separating the bike from roses blooming and splendid architecture on the other side, a young man walking by. The other two show a river, the first at sunset, the second at dawn. As always, the soul revealed with beauty and elegance. How I love this girl.

Part of me would like to see her saying goodbye to fans and skating world in some press conference or sth, but deep inside I'm afraid it could break my heart again. First time was, when Sam posted THIS pic.

I'm in Lip-rehab for some time now and I'm still not ready to acknowledge the full truth: we'll never see our wonderful, soul-triggering Yekaterinburg's Angel in competition. :sad4::sad4::sad4:
