Yulia Lipnitskaya

I thought her work with Lambiel went really well too :)

This is an example of Yulia's choreography. Lambiel did not choreograph her Autumn Leaves. He skated improvisations, and from those demonstrations she and Alexei could take whatever they wanted for themselves. Here are her own words, the only interview I know of where she talked about Lambiel the choreographer.

"Stephane is a different story. The music began and he flew away. He loves the music and the ice so much that watching his improvisations is a pleasure. But it's not what we came for! In real life it looked like that: Stephane puts the music on, starts doing some fast steps, Alexey Evgenievich and I are standing with our jaws dropped and don't even remotely understand how is he doing that. Then I pull myself together, ask him to repeat and he does - but he is doing it completely different and is not even aware! He doesn't remember the steps nor their order! Asking him what exactly did he do just now is useless. Hence I learned to see some of his steps and repeat them. I was skating behind him looking at his legs. He is also putting his legs in braids all the time! I never spent so much flat on the ice in my life as in Switzerland when trying to repeat Lambiel's steps!"

We know Autumn Leaves is her choreography that incorporates some of Lambiel's techniques, no doubt with collaboration from Alexei. The elegance, sophistication, good taste and uniqueness of this performance are hers. What genius. Her retirement was an immeasurable loss, though I have no doubt retiring was necessary.

Anyone who wants validation of her skill as choreographer need look no further than this performance. I agree Sam, ideally roles of coach and choreographer will be combined in one capable person, as with Alexei. Does Yulia require training to choreograph and coach? Perhaps, if they can find someone who has something to teach her. Otherwise step back and don't interfere. Training guarantees nothing, that's obvious from Yulia's experiences. She should be training them.

I like the Daily Instagram story she just shared where she just stopped in the road in the middle of nowhere to show us the beautiful snow. I’m Nerdy like this too and would totally post something similar. Things are so active lately :yay:

but seriously guys, don't pay attetion to this person. it's always spreading lie in other threads. it might be koala or her the best fan. so just ignore it

it came here in 2010 to scream about kim's victory, and still screaming sinse eight years. pathetic

OS has always been pretty supportive of Yulia and certainly gives her tons of respect. We don’t always have to agree with our friends about everything ;)

Very exciting time for Yulia fans. I really enjoy her commentary which I find very diligent and free of bias. Honest analysis that is not ruined by passion. I’d surely appreciate any insight or mini translations of her statements but I don’t expect much. I’m really try to learn a bit more Russian but it’s a very slow process with all of my other responsibilities.

Thanks Dante for the links.

Dude, seriously? :rolleye: What does any of this have to do with Yulia...? Can you just...not?

Am I mistaken or some of the moves Yulia goes through it the new video are from Sindler's List? I' not sure, but Elena's reminded me of her Swan program, so maybe
(I need to go rewatch that video)

You're welcome! Tomorrow I'm moving to another city and I may be cut off from high speed internet for several days, so tonight is probably the last time I can record Yulya's comments at the Olympics. But I asked another guy to try to do it instead of me - it would appear here (search "telesport").
