Yulia Lipnitskaya

Poor my baby, so much pressure! I hope her LP will be ready when it's JO. Fingers cross!

Ya, there's alot of pressure on her but I hope Yulia and Eteri would find a way to put it aside and try different things that will help them in the future. Nothing will compare with the emotions from last season so why not relax and build up a good base for the years to come.

Thank you! Last season was so hard yet she overcame it. So yes, let's believe in her!

She's got a spine of (not literal, just figurative) steel and an iron will. Even in those early interviews one can see in her eyes that she's a fierce competitor. It's a lot for her to take right now, but she's "a tough cookie". With the right support (Eteri, her family, the federation), she'll do just fine. I'm still convinced she will be the 2018 Olympic champion. :)

There is no announcement yet, regarding her new LP.

She said "Now we are going to try another option, which both Eteri Georgievna and I like, but we will wait for Ilya to come back to hear his opinion. He has a fine understanding of music, he creates vivid and memorable programs, and we want to continue working with him."

This is the interview with her, after the test skate: Yulia Lipnitskaya: Now I understand why people quit after Olympics

Thanks for the link!

As for music for a LP, she has a chance now to do something different, like a character piece or a lighthearted piece. Hopefully she and her team can think of something she will really enjoy. Her "Schindler's List" was a thing of beauty, but perhaps something less serious for her this year. Plus she's skated it to perfection more than once already. She's only a teenager, she should have FUN with some of her choices.

At this point I don't care if she will choose some music that have been done to death. As long as she can enjoy it, it matters.

She's such a supreme athlete, she can take an overused piece and make it distinctive and her own.

If she can keep that intense gaze I think everything else will fall into place. Her strength is her character and her character is strength. I think it's part of the appeal. Such a tiny little thing having the power to project herself as something so big. I've noticed she has the ability to turn a rink into absolute silence like something is happening that is bigger than us and no one can turn away for even a second. It's quite possible that her ability to stun everyone into silence is the reason that they stand up and cheer at the end. It just builds inside until the end and everyone has to let it out. I'm sure a lot is admiration and respect too :)
So true!
It was apparent on this practice video before EX in Skate Canada - she lured all those people around the rink into her training skate, they started cheering and clapping, quite funny how those male skaters in the middle stopped talking and started staring...
"Lipnitskaya effect"! ;)

Yes, of course I do, why? :)

I wanted to download the video and have it in my archive, but the subtitles are not incorporated.
So, I thought I could include them in the video, for my personal use only. If that's ok with you.

If it's soft sub with timing then you could upload the soft sub to youtube and it might work automatically. Like this, right: http://youtu.be/d7Eb1XJYO-w
I suppose Papa use srt sub file

@papa: Do you still have those subtitles of Yulia's documentary on youtube?

That video is awesome!!! I want to start a thread at some point giving props to quickm and papa for creating a video that got 30,000 hits

But I think that's captions subtitles though, not hardcoded. So, when I download the video into my computer I don't have the subtitles.
Yes, if Papa uses caption subtitles, papa must have that soft sub file somewhere in the computer. Papa can send the file to you to make some hard-sub.

Many say "Oh Alexandra Proklova is the next Yulia Lipnitskaya/ a younger more powerful version..."
But they are 2 completely different people as for style, music, expression. The only thing they have in common is their flexibility.
Sorry, but I've heard that comparison so many times recently and that just came to my mind when I saw the pic :D

I love Yulia and she'll always be my favorite, but I have to include myself in the group who worries that she'll have trouble to measure up to last season.
I'm not saying that she has to do so, but she will want to and people will expect her to.
