Yulia Lipnitskaya

This is probably psychosomatic. It is not consistent and it occurs under stress.
"Psychosomatic" was also the first diagnosis that friend of mine got. Said he couldn't cope with the stress and exhaustion hanging in a cliff or swimming long distances. He also didn't have it all of the time, but it was really scary for him when it happenend. Got the right diagnosis after a CT scan of the scull. Sometimes it's rather easy to say that things are psychosomatic, I mean, Yulia has showed that she can cope with stress very well in the past.

I wonder, maybe all athletes have this at least once in their career?

I think she should bury the programs of this season and start fresh. She has all the time in this world to listen a lot of music and choose the pieces she likes.
She is growing up so the programs should reflect that as well.

What's the deal with the photo of Yulia riding on an elephant that is swimming in the water. That doesn't look safe.

1) is it real?
2)is it safe?
3)is it recent?

I am puzzled by this logic. It's not about being Asian or not. There's Kanako Murakami who was hurt by puberty, and Mao was hurt by it as well.

That's what I thought too. I don't know who the guy is but he says a lot of bollocks.:rolleye:

What photo are you talking about?

The guy is Alexander Gaszi, a dancer, - he was interviewed in this article...

Oh the ID guy who skates with Nelly? I couldn't understand who he was with google translation. :hopelessness: Oh well, sorry Alexander, still a lot of bollocks. :p

It is a silly stereotype. Of course Asians grow and their bodies change too. But in general, many Asians have faster metabolism and are skinnier than the general Caucasian - but to be honest, sports people probably have fast metabolism too.

Regarding music selection, the two crucial factors are liking the music and time to prepare. Mulan is ideal if she still wants to use it. She is attracted to Oriental themes, she has had successful Oriental programs in the past. Anything connecting her to past success is desirable at this point in time. Megapolis is okay for SP if she can't come up with something fresh within a comfortable time frame. I'd prefer that she bury Megapolis along with everything else connected with this year, at least temporarily. Megapolis would be a smart choice for the Olympic year if she still likes it. Music formerly used in exhibition is a good place to look for her new SP. Alba will agree, I'm sure. Good luck to her in finding the perfect fit.
I agree with this. I'd love to see Mulan--it'll channel the fighter spirit in her. And I, too, would want Yulia to bury everything from this season. She already performed Megapolis as it was meant to be (GPF, imo), so it's best to go with something new.

Apparently Yulias overall problem is that... she's not Asian. :laugh2:

Maybe he was thinking about Yuko Kawaguchi and Yuna Kim when he said those lines.

Alba, I was actually thinking about reviving Kill Bill so I mentioned you, remembering that you favored it last spring when programs were in flux. Kill Bill would definitely give her the extrovert look that Sandpiper suggested. A new look for a new Yulia is a very good idea. If she lengthened the tragic middle section from her exhibition arrangement, the contrasts would be well-balanced. Also, the big-band urban sleaze of the first section, the gut-wrenching tragedy of the middle section, and the naked rhythms of the final section of Kill Bill would strongly contrast with the spectacular, fully-scored beauty and quaint orientalism that is Mulan. Together they would be a nicely balanced pairing of programs, allowing her to demonstrate her ability to interpret different musical styles and moods. Also, most of the musical arranging would be finished. It's obvious she likes the music. In this video she looked like she owned it, watch her expressions going into the starting pose and at the end. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eS3PW9KZjWE

SP: Kill Bill
LP: Mulan

Sounds good to me. Except for one thing: I hope she wears a different costume for Kill Bill. That one looked a little... cheap?
