I'm thinking of the girl in res shoes, anyone remember this movie: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0040725/
She migt be a fit. Ballerina in white dress and red shoes...
I really like your idea about Yulia skating to EPIC music. Yanni's song linked above was close, but never had that WOW or INTENSE moment that draws in the audience encapsulates the idea of EPIC. Your music selections are on the right track, but I get the vibes of a RAVE rather than a PERFORMANCE. In other words, the compatibility between this techno music Yulia's artistic prowess simply is not there. She won't be able to emotionally connect with the music, which is vital if her competitors are coming out with huge jumps.
I guess it's time for me to convert from Nike to Adidas.....![]()
For some reason I don't love Yanni very much, his music is kind of elevator music...I want something more memorable for Yulia.

I said at the beginning/middle/end that my ideas would require working with a music producer/arranger/composer to take the melodies/vocals/themes and put it in a skateable format. To dismiss it as rave/techno music misses my point completely. Electronic dance music is often transformed to fit different styles and genres. Changing(or actualy just taking a few elements like the melody) to make something skateable is a given. I see this as a way to get the right musical elements to help with the spins, step sequence, transitions, single vs combination jump combinations, etc and to have the right element arrangement to maximize the score.
TBH, I think the two songs you picked out are too masculine and would overpower Yulia. I have some of the Epic music compilations in my youtube playlist of potential sources of skate music... and the lady skater who I felt fitted that genre best was Pogorilaya. And I think there are quite a few skaters that skate to Epic music... Ashley Wagner's SP this season is also Nero.
But if you want something epic-ish, here are a few potential ideas in that vain for Yulia. These are not as-is recommendations... all of these would need be covered by a music producer/arranger/composer. So don't make that complaint.
1. Bloody Tears - Castlevania
* Strings and Piano Mix
* Church Wedding Organ Cover - <--- my favorite
* Live Orchestra one & two
* Piano Cover -
* There many, many more left on youtube
* Sheet Music and Midi - (taken from this cover)
* All versions of ''Bloody Tears'' in the Castlevania series
This would be a good way to channel the gothic aesthetic in the overdone Phantom of the Opera while doing something very different. Skating to this would make her japanese fans go nuts(in a good way) and gain her fans and attention from outside the skating world. The composer is Japanese and it comes from a japanese video game series with huge worldwide popularity.
I currently see two ways to interprete this music(and there are certainly many more). The slow church organ cover feels to me like pure tragedy... as if you're a new vampire remanancing of the life you're losing. The piano/strings feels like a tragedy that turns into adventure... as if you've seen carnage and you're out to kill Dracula.
There are a couple(one, two) cool bloody tears makeup tutorials on youtube.
2. Maid of Orleans (The Waltz Joan of Arc) - Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark
* This song has been covered a lot... from metal to instrumental guitar to electronica to gregorian chant and many more on youtube.
I see the main melody as a small part(the step sequence is how I imagine it) of a larger program on Joan of Arc where Joan is leading a march. I think it would have to be done kind of like the R&J program. There are a lot of Joan of Arc movies, plays, operas for which to look for other material to add to it. For instance... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Maid_of_Orleans_(opera)
3. When The Wild Wind Blows - Iron Maiden
* Orchestra Arrangement - <--- listen to this first
* Original with subtitles
* Live in Moscow
Metal is another genre that should to be looked at for ideas... to be given an Orchestra Arrangement... though Proklova actually skates to a metal version of firebird and a Russian pairs team has skated to a metal version of POTO.
And with that I'm done forever in this thread with music recommendations.
For those that don't get what I'm saying about working with a music producer/arranger/composer, just take a gander at the website for who covered "A Time For Us" that Yulia used in her R&J program. There are thousands of little musicians that release music like this that don't get all that much attention(these are often side projects for their paid work). It would be nice to work with some of them specifically on music for figure skating.

Oh and it's obvious that Mulan was a choice because Worlds was going to be in China... but she also mentioned a large amount of requests for her to skate to Asian music.
btw. - do they produce skating accessories?
But knowing Nike, they might have something.Again, I'm no expert at all but I listen to a lot of music and try to edit songs to be background music in digital scrapbooks that I make. I couldn't find a concrete melody that would sustain BOTH quick and slow tempos, because that's really important in this sport IMO.

But SL also doesn't have good ending either. It's tragic.Terrible ending, though...:hopelessness:

Can you do something for me please?
I would like to edit this piece of music https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rds1mdeells
I think this has 320 BPM and I would like to see how it works with 198 BPM.

Unfortunately, I don't have time right now, as I am about to study for my history exam that's tomorrow. But I will hopefully get to it tomorrow!
