If you look at pictures from earlier seasons, you'll actually find plenty of Julia pictures with Zhenya, Polinas (Shelepen and Tsurskaya), Diana and other kids of Tutberidze's group. They were having fun, they played, Julia looked just like average happy, carefree kid. I think she was big friend with Shelepen and I suspect things changed after Polina left the group and then of course after Sochi madness. I may be wrong, please feel invited to correct me...
WHY?! It's not helping the edge (Evgenia gets calls just as often as Yulia, and sometimes they're e). And it looks bad. I'd much rather watch, say, Mao's flutz than this.That might happen though...

Well... or maby tano next year. I don't hate the tano, as long as the jumping quality is okay with flow.

Pure speculation here but if Yulia Tano's next year I bet it's on the 2A. Zhenia and Sima seemed outright convinced that the tano adds height and stability to their jumps. Her axel could use that and didn't she do a tano 2a (off ice) in the Adidas commercial:think:
Just 2A is okay. Any more and I ragequit (well, not really, just...). Especially if the loop-lutz happens too.
Yulia is too talented and too special to need cookie-cutter tricks like that.

I'm sure the arm above the head cuts down on air resistance during take-off. Also, many iconic buildings are constructed with a spire above the top floors, increasing height and stability.
We all know these girls 'tano simply to irritate folks now...

Tano on 2A would be beautiful. I think as it's a forward take off. Liza also has tano in her 2A.
But isn't it a good point-grabber for her in the mean time while they are working on getting her problem jumps consistent again, especially the lutz?
That's even more reason to not put 'tano on everything (I'm okay with just 2A
). She's got enough on her plate. As long as she can land the jumps, she is competitive. She doesn't need to 'tano them.
She doesn't need this kind of jumps. It's a good thing she learned to jump normally, and not with one hand up. I repeat myself as I've said in another thread, but to me this kind of jumping (tano) is irritating (it just doesn't fit visually with harmony and beauty ...). Sorry...

Tano doesn't help with consistency. On the contrary, I remember Serafima at the GPF having difficulties because of Tano. Yulia was consistent a year ago and she didn't have the tano, same goes for Liza or Radionova, and many other skaters who don't do the Tano jumps. I have nothing against those who use tano as much as they like, if this makes them feel comfortable, but if I can choose I don't want to see the Tano in all jumps. I agree with andy08, I find them irritating too.

When 'tano jumps are done properly with an extended arm aloft, a la Jason Brown or Mao Asada or Boitano himself, they do make jumps seem higher than they are and adds to their elegance.
Sima and Zhenia (and Liza for that matter) don't do them any justice. I get it though; it is a sport first and foremost and any way to garner extra points to win is smart. Especially in Russia where they can easily dispose of any lady who doesn't bring results without missing a beat.
Haven't seen 'Tangled' but they do share a striking similarity. Hehe

Well if they use tano as some sign to make the judges and audience remember them, then it's understandable.
