Yulia Lipnitskaya

I've been filling the void by watching this.

I don't think it will ever get old.
172 years say it won't. :)
It's one the most powerful Russian romance songs, beloved and sung in many other Slavic countries.

Btw., I wonder if she used darker costume to create the contrast illusion that her eyes are black as well...
We all know Julia and her mom are skating fashion experts with sublime taste.

OK, I will...
Her skating amazes and cheers me up, but I can't freaking watch her Olympic/European skate without disrupting my day/evening anymore. Whenever I start for one ~5 minutes long Schindler's List, I end up with (at least) 50 minutes of SLs, "Dont Give Ups", Megapolises, Je t'aimes, Kill Bills and fan tributes. She is constantly breaking my will and that's why I dislike her so much. :p

Go away, I don't like you!

I lied...

She takes over the mind one skate and one video at a time. But what should I say when someone asks me "What did you do last year?" Uh, watched Lipnitskaya videos.

I've been watching the ad over and over again, there's something about that's so incredible. Moreso, for the fact that despite the translation in the description I don't really understand the words so I focus instead on how she's saying it and her intensity. (The adidas ad I haven't seen the other.)

Now that I finally have a laptop again I have time to watch these videos and comment instead of having to rush on a work or library computer.

While downloading videos of her skates over the past few years I am astonished anew at how she's keeps getting better, despite the jump consistency or lack thereof everything else is more incredible.

I suspect this is what Eteri means by 'Yulia's huge potential.'

And helped fuel many of the 'dislikes', I'm sure. ;)

Good point. It's also possible that many dislikers actually admire Yulia but can't admit it because of another loyalty or a conflict. In these instances of reaction formation, the dislike is actually a greater compliment and represents stronger attraction than many of the less emotion-charged likes. Some dislikes are actually strong likes.

New interview with Eteri Tutberidze, in english:

http://blog.europeonice.com/?eid=494

Aside from Lipnitskaya, Tutberidze trains Sergei Voronov, Adian Pitkeev, Evgenia Medvedeva and Serafima Sakhanovich. Despite so many elite skaters under her wings, she doesn’t feel that there is any question that she is overstretched.

“It’s not difficult to divide time,” she told Europe on Ice. “Let’s say you have kids. How hard is it to divide love between them? Is it going to be hard? No, you will love them all and you will find the time for all them. It’s the same.”

:)

“The most important thing that she has taught us is to believe in yourself and trust other people,” Medvedeva revealed.
“To trust, but not everybody,” Sakhanovich added.

 Good girl.

There does seem to be some magical force required to inspire someone to click a 'dislike' button. Generally, if someone doesn't want to watch something, they would just never load the page in the first place, or close it out and not think much more of it.

Could chalk it up to good sports rivalry, but figure skating always seems to be a bit more divisive than that.

Most people should be free to admire any number of skaters, regardless of loyalty or 'conflicts', I would think? We all have our biases & personal preferences, I guess...

I wonder... does anyone here know who my favorite skater of all-time is? (Or care? ;) )

I change my avatar all the time.
It's Chopa

Still...this is the best pet photo she has posted IMHO.

I must confess I've hit the dislike button on my own videos before.
After noticing some dislikes on one I just went ahead and joined in on the fun.

I've been stuck on my phone the last few days and cant open the video Sorenkay posted a page or two ago. Was it video of Yulia jumping recently? How did it look?

Here's a mirror of her jump video video...

This one above, Sam?

I did some Inception-level stuff here, and took a mobile phone video of a mobile phone video showing a computer monitor video of a recording of a skate (courtesy of sorenkay):

Yulia vid (unlisted video, posting for Sam to access on mobile, will remove if anyone has an issue with the re-up...)

Oh, and I just noticed I'm 1k+ subscribers now! :)

Thx for the upload :)
(So I'm on a phone watching a phone watching a phone watching a computer :confused2: )
...looks like a 3s-3t or is it 3s-2t ?

3s looks a tad low but she lands smooth and true to her style she uses her free leg to launch a 3t higher than the first jump  Maybe a +1 in GOE at best but definitely better than what she was getting this year. If she can just land them even like this she'll be competing for medals again because her presentation and choreography are usually pretty solid and her ticket to success. That and spin GOE.

I hope she keeps her 2a-3t-2t. That's my favorite combo she does but really I just hope she gets everything back to an acceptable/competitive level. :fullofhope: :p

You're stingy on the GoE's... you should become a judge. I hear it's a lucrative job. ;)

Definitely need to get back on track -- that Russian field of ladies is looking awfully crowded for next season. :slink:

But spin GoE's in spades!

She has also the potential to do wonders with the stsq. That's why I hope she is working hard on her SS, and capitalise the max there as well.

I hope she keeps her 2a-3t-2t.

Me too.
