Yulia Lipnitskaya

Source of this is "Sobesednik", so I wouldn't trust it. They have spread unreliable infos about Julia before. :disapp:

 Maybe, but they're quoting Gorshkov, apparently. It's not like they're saying negative stuff. ;)

Elena Ilinykh about Yulia

Q: You are also close friends with Yulia Lipnitskaya. What do you have in common with her — from an outsider's point of view, you two are complete opposites?

A: I remember when I saw her for a first time, it was five or maybe six years ago, at Junior Nationals in Saransk. It was in a hallway before she went on the ice. I did not know her at all before that. I remember it seemed that her eyes could spit fire, such steely determination in such a little girl. I watched her performance and I was mesmerized. A girl from another planet, an alien! After that I followed Yulia with great interest. Such strong, independent spirit! She is smart beyond her years, she is not like anyone else, it's hard to put it into words. You have to feel Yulia. I adore her. I believe in her talent and character!

What a lovely metaphor. Yulia, an alien messenger from a planet deep in innerspace with messages expressed purely in feeling. Thanks, Alba.

Hopefully she breezes thru her exams

I am still seeing some blonde dye but I guess YMMV

Sam, in this case it most likely has to do with the way cameras "think." In natural bright light, contrasts are greater. Thus lighter colors will stand out more when photographed in bright daylight. For example, if a dark red area against a black background is photographed in low light, the colors will look the same (no contrast). If they are photographed in strong natural light, the camera will interpret them as red contrasted against black. Hair is rarely a single color, so the amount of contrast has everything to do with perception of hair color. Blame it on the camera.

The color temperature of artificial lighting can dramatically distort color balance, as in ice rinks.

:cheer: If she's back in good form, she has a good chance at Gold/Silver at SA. TEB is a little more worrisome for me.

Yeah, she has Liza to face at TEB, and Gracie too, who is kinda unpredictable. I think she can get at least a medal if she's back in form, and if the others make mistakes, she could do even better. I'm hoping she'll do some Senior B or Russian Cup competition before GP season starts so she can 'warm up' a bit, considering her last competition was in December.

Hope she does well! Gracie (who is awsome as well) will be a tough competitor to beat at Skate America if back in form. And of course, Evgenia will be there...yikes. More than anything, I'm just glad the subpar post-Olympic season is history for everyone who struggled...not just Yulia.

I'm also fine with Yulia's GP events. If she's in form, Evgenia Medvedeva will have nothing on her, especially in America. Liza may well be tough to beat, as well as Gracie Gold at SA, but if all goes well, Yulia will meet Gracie again in Barcelona, and who'll care there who beat whom at SA? And as for Liza, Yulia would have to meet her at some point in the season anyway, and TEB is as good a place as any other. I also hope Yulia will do a B competition before GP, but I do hope she won't have to compete against Liza there - just not at her first competition of the season when she'll be trying to regain her confidence and standing in the judges eyes. That's all I'm really asking for.

I was planning to go to TEB no matter what the assignments... but I'm very pleased that Julia will be one of the competitors!

Anyone remember the funny video that allegedly Yulia edited and sent to a journalist in which she is pretending that she cusses all over the place? I think the journalist called her rude and accused her of being a cuss monster or something.

I still don't know for certain what the deal was but it just makes me laugh so hard:biggrin:
