Yulia Lipnitskaya

Kogan interview on today's test skates (as per google translate):
"Olympic champion of 2014 in team competitions in figure skating Yulia Lipnitskaya was noted rental in Sochi qualitative leaps, said the agency "F-Sport" CEO Figure Skating Federation of Russia (FFKKR) Alexander Kogan.
Control rentals skaters the Russian team finished in Sochi.
"Lipnitskaya grew, became more feminine. Those physiological changes that are required by the female body, it is affected, but we saw a beautiful, high jumps and precise that it showed very well", - he said Kogan calls.

According to him, Lipnitskaya demonstrated "a very interesting free program, on which she worked with her choreographer." "She has more time to polish those flaws that we saw," - said the general director of the federation."

Another tv report (according to them Yulia is recuperating from a back injury earlier in the season):

In both programs, the music is empty, not Julia's. Zueva is a good Director, but masterpieces and findings from it is not worth waiting. Tutberidze did not return to her stamina and confidence. But Julia settles into her new body and there is hope.
In all honesty, I can understand the SP choice, I am not a big fan of thr SP but she landed her jumps well in the SP and she seemed really into it.
However... her LP... I have to say no, she deserves better than this. I don't want to say this but the LP leaves no memory in my mind at all.

I don't know. I actually loved the LP. Or, rather, I loved Yulia in the LP, the moves, the plasticity, the skating. I think that it can shine if skated well.

While I understand the above expressed opinions about the programme being generic, I still think it's step in the right direction. You can't have a masterpiece every season. I for one am glad to see improvements in her jumps, because let's be honest, it's the tech content that WINS competions, not the artistic impresion (however everlasting that may be). We may talk all we want about her artistic soul and the way she feels music, but I think Yulia is continuing with skating because she wants to win and just those things won't cut it. On other note, I watched her SP over and over and can't wait to see it in competition!

I agree. It seems like a program build specifically to support jumps and technical elements without being too emotionally distracting, which is probably what she needs right now. Still, with clean and proper skating it can be a gem.

I agree and we shouldn't forget that she's not that tiny little thing anymore, so she'll most probably need more time to set up her jumps. Her new FD is a very beautiful program. Less is often more when it comes to skating, sometimes when I watched Julia I thought that too much was going on.

I really like it more and more each time I warch it. She has changed quite a few subtle things from the past to be more gentle and mindful of the movements. For example...the arm movements of the Ina Bauer. Speaking of which she went with a lot less back bend for the Ina Bauer than the Instagram clip that came out a few weeks back  Back issues?? Anyway..when she does the spiral and makes a sweeping gesture with her arm it forms a very beautiful shape leading into an exit on one foot and she then stays on that foot while building up momentum all the way into the layback which is built perfectly with the musical phrasing.

It's woven together very nicely.

I think this program will grow and win people over as the season unfolds although....she is going to have to get those jumps in check first and foremost. She has really gained a lot And I agree that hat her jumps are higher and her edges are deeper.

I love the music and the step sequence. Not crazy about the choreo overall. Maybe because it's the kind of music that it doesn't allow you to make mistakes because it interrupts the flow. If skated clean and effortless I think it could be a very good program.
I'm waiting for the competitions myself. For me the tests skates are relevant only to see the choreography.
Since I'm having an amaro Nerone, which is delicious, I invite all of you to https://vk.com/julia_lipnitskaya?z=photo-31036833_368354157/album-31036833_00/rev

I went back and watched the Instagram post from practice. Watch the spiral and notice the music peaks right at the point she lifts up into the spiral.

Now watch the test skate...it happens while she is doing back crossovers.

So she likely got off of the actual choreo which explains how it got a bit muddled in the middle. Good because it is likely to be better than what we saw but bad because for some reason she has become so fragile and doesn't fight to get her programs back. She needs to desperately do a good FS in competition and learn to believe and trust in herself again.

When did they say the program wasn't finished? Just wondering... I feel like it wasn't mentioned in any of the major interviews, maybe I missed something?

Right when she came back from her trip to America. I think it was Eteri that said the programs weren't 100% complete but they weren't sure when she could get back to Detroit. Sorry I don't have a link but I'll start searching to see if I can find one.

That fall she took on the lutz was pretty bad and no doubt messed with her timing and confidence for the rest of the program - she wouldn't want to risk injuring herself at a test skate. My only problem with this program is the two lutzes in the same spot with the same transition beforehand. Hopefully this will be adjusted before her first competition because it makes the opening 4 jumping passes seem very repetitive.

My favorite part of the program is the choreo sequence into the final layback. It goes perfectly with the music (and seems to be the only "difficult entry" variation anyone is doing that actually goes with the program.)

So I'm very curious as to if the reports of her competing at Finlandia pan out. She needs to compete and she needs to build confidence and momentum. The timeframe is so weird though.

Finlandia is October 8-11.
Skate America is October 24-26

Sounds like she needs to work in a trip to see Marina too. This should be the priority although I'm sure Marina is busy herself so that will complicate things. If it were up to me I'd send her to Marina ASAP!! Like...tomorrow. It would be better for her to show up to Finlandia or whatever her next event is fully trained with that fresh feeling she got last time on her trip to the states. I guess I just don't think it wise to compete in an event until the program is rock solid and I absolutely think she needs an event or two before SA. Although if she were to spend a week or two prior to SA there it would also be beneficial. Still...I'm afraid bad results at an event could have serious negative effects. Ugh...so complicated.

The FS really is a beautiful program and has potential to my eyes. Enough potential for her to challenge for good podium positions. I hope Eteri can prepare her and return her to fighting form. I wanna see the ear rubbing and intense competitive face return. That's the Julia that can steal the hearts and attention of everyone in the building.

I'd like her to go on a social media hiatus myself. She really just needs to find herself and forget about the rest of the world. No need for it and I think it may hold her back because of potentially adding pressure in many ways.

Ok I just saw the free skate and while it's pretty clear it has yet to be finished and all polished, it wasn't that bad. Yes she messed up the lutz and I think purposely doubled the rest of her jumps just in case, and probably she just wanted to concentrate in performing, but you can see she's trying. I think the program has the potential to be very good, the music gives off the enchanting feel (some ppl may compare it to SL but this one is less solemn/gloomy) and I think I'm gonna like it a lot once it's all finished.

I hope people won't be so quick to jump into conclusion and give her a chance.. obviously this is a 'test skate' for a reason. I personally am liking the music, it's beautiful. The choreography does seem like it suits her a lot, she just has to be more confident with it (which I think will certainly come once she's confident with all the technical elements). That leg hold spiral (or whatever it's called, sorry guys I can't name stuff at the moment), I feel like it needs to be held a little longer but she probably missed the timing a bit. Idk but I find myself liking the program/choreography (albeit it's still a bit all over the place). Some may think that it's less artistic but I think it's just fine, not too much and she can still concentrate on his technical elements while still gaining that performance mark. Oh and I love the last spin seq I think it matches the music so well.

I agree that the music is so flowy that a fall may disrupt the whole performance. Let's hope that she will sort out all of the problems and polish the program well. She certainly has the ability to do it, she just needs confident and gets used to it.

I really hope her free program will turn out better than last year, it was very creepy and sad to see her fall again, as if "the FS curse" continued into this season.
