Yulia Lipnitskaya

Sotskova and Tsurskaya have solid jump technique and developing fast mature bodies for their age like Pogorilaya
unlike Lipnitskaya, Zhang etc who delayed puberty too long.

Wow, what a familiar writing style you have. Just saying...:slink:

My wife and I saw Julia at Finlandia Trophy just over a week ago. It was our 5th time to see her in person, and the 4th year in a row! In some ways it has been like watching our own children growing up! What a journey!

It is always a priviledge to see her skate, and this was no exception. Even when she is not at her best for whatever reason, she is always compelling, beautiful and artistic. Her performances are full of emotion, speed, athleticism, flexibility, difficulty... and blink-and-you-miss-it intricate details. And when you are there "live", her skating (and her music) are more powerful, and have much more impact, than watching on TV or on youtube etc.

Well anyway - here are some of the photos I took when we were there. I hope everyone can enjoy!

Looking forward to seeing her again at TEB in Bordeaux next month, and hopefully at the Grand Prix Final in Barcelona too!

Oh thank you YesWay. I was waiting for someone who saw her live in Finlandia because I was curious about her speed. How was it live because she looked a bit slow to me compared with other times. Maybe it was the streaming though so I don't know.

Thanks for the great pics.YesWay! There's something divine about Julia and I'm sure you can feel it stronger watching her skating live(I hope I'll get the opportunity someday).

Actually would it be okay with you if I made one into an avatar for the site?
Help yourself!

Hard to say compared to other times... and of course seeing her SP right in front of us makes us a bit starry-eyed *_* so we don't pay so much attention to such things haha... but my (subjective!) impression was that she was generally as fast as, or faster than, everyone else there except Hongo... and one of the reasons she gets big PCS is because of the way she can build speed "effortlessly" while she's doing steps and choreography (requires less cross-overs).

Yes, I would urge anyone who hasn't seen her live... if you ever have a chance, don't pass it up! You might regret it for the rest of your life!

That's good to hear. Obviously it was still early so I'm confident she will be in much better in SA.

Fantastic pics, YesWay, thanks for sharing. I wonder how anyone could criticize her SP dress? To me it looks amazing. She should definitely keep her dress designer.

Thank you so much! I already did :laugh2: but I'd have removed it if you said it wasn't okay. Thanks again for taking such fantastic pics, not only of her but of all the skaters who you post them of.

Her spins are always in a league of their own. Hoping she can deliver the same emotional impact from the balance of her elements to once again become a true force amongst the ladies this season.

Thankyou YesWay for the photos and your recap! I would love to go watch Yulia compete one day. It would be so much more convenient if I wasn't stuck in the southern hemisphere surrounded by sea.....hahaha

Alas...if it's Halloween and you've got a skating competition, and you happen to have a rainbow/acid-trip of a living room/60s-recreational-drug-use-inspired dress casually hanging in your closet. Then you wear it...and you wear it with pride......because why the hell not? :p

WOW YesWay, your photos are wonderful! Thank you for sharing :)
And Yulia looks like a "bambolina" everywhere. Is she real? No one can be so much photogenic!

Are you guys already stressed for SA? I check my TV recorder twice a day to make sure everything is ok for the great debut
