Yulia Lipnitskaya

Shall we start fan fest for Urmanov? Based on the recent content of this thread, I'm sure he would get loads of love :agree:

But in all seriousness, I do so wish she would do some more competitions before the season is over. I'm greedy and I want to see those programs performed again. Or, would it be too much to ask Yuls to keep her LP for the next season? Santa, grant me another wish!

Yes, Urmanov said in his yesterday interview, that they will look up the schedule to know which competitions are still available, so that Yulia could take part in some of them... To my mind, it's a right decision - Yulia needs more competition now, to regain her confidence  Concerning the Cup of Russia Final in Saransk he said that they are planning, but he can't say for certain yet.

No kidding Sherlock!

I'm on the train, going to Rome, and this stupid wifi doesn't let me to watch youtube. Which Release Me is that?
:)

Two Steps - of course;) (when it comes to me it's a safe bet;))

I think one of the things Urmanov did for her, is give her an environment where she felt safe and protected, and free to be herself, and become comfortable in her own skin, so to speak, and rediscover her joy of skating and motivation. When things were at their most difficult, she must have oftentimes have wondered "What is the point? Why am I even doing this?" - she must have felt that she was standing still, getting nowhere, in the same, miserable, hopeless spot. Maybe she and Eteri saw eye to eye, and connected, when she was at her most driven - maybe her feeling lost and unmotivated because of it was something Eteri had difficulty understanding. I'm not trying to cast blame on Eteri - and this is only conjecture on my part, anyway - because nobody is good at everything. Sometimes... things just happen, and it doesn't have to be someone's "fault". But, the joyful thing is that Julia is happy now, and has found her right comfortable figure skating home, and she and Urmanov can keep on building on this going forward. :)

Also, I am so happy that he seems to understand the need to shield Julia from the media - just that in itself must be a huge weight off her shoulders!
:2thumbs: Agree "200%". :p
And in honour of Julia's new re-beginning of her skating life

(What say you, Alba? I think this would suit Julia as well.:))
Before the Russian Nationals, I could not imagine Yulia skates to it. Now I certainly can and love it! :coffee:

Ahem. Older, mature and sexy Urmanov in the kiss and cry...

I think he's still gorgeous now. :o:

Haha btw.. glad to hear that it's not the last time we see Julia this season. Look forward to the next competition and the improvement she'll show to us! :cheer:

I selfishly hope that she keeps the same LP for next season. I think that she could deliver so much more... Anyways, I really really really hope she attends other competitions. I don't follow competitions when she's not there. :)

I think in many ways it would be good to have two completely new programmes. Psychologically, it would be a clean break from the past for next season.

Rome wasn't built in a day, and she put up a good fight :) And I agree she needs more mileage competition wise.

Small victories will lead the way.

I agree and tbh I don't think the LP is a good program. It could've been but it's meh in the end.
I want new programs, new ideas, which will reflect her maturity and improvements.

I have a weird feeling that if the LP was a program with more drive, and less lyrics, she could have done better. I am not sure it fits her mood and state of mind as it is. She needs to feel herself a fighter, not a sufferer.

I don't like the LP, to be honest. However, I don't think a different program would have such impact on her. I think it was obvious she still is having problems with the jumps, so I don't think a music with more of a fight instinct would have made a difference. I still think she needs to compete this season and make this program work, whatever it needs to be done for that to happen. I think it's more important for her to actually win over this LP in a competition than to skate a different program in this or the next season.
It would be amazing for her to feel that way, feel like she can do the entire program in competition. Even if she doesn't get a chance at a big competition this year, it would be amazing if she finished the season with a clean LP, and then she can go with a new mindset for the summer and her preparation for the next season.

Urmanov claims that, given another month of work, Yulia would achieve competitive form. Well, if she goes to CoR, we'll get to see if they are able to pull this off.
