Yulia Lipnitskaya

She's so graceful and magical, people respond to her vividly - clapping, cheering through the whole skate!
So many new champions, so many new heroines, so many prospects, still old love never dies... :luv17:

PS. Counted two new spins: completely new one-handed grab and hyper-extended I-spin. :)

I completely agree with you...

There are just so many photos, but this one shows the smile that I've been missing:

And just a side note... her jumps seem really clean! This is looking like a promising season... :)

This is such an interesting program...the word "sizzle" comes to mind. Not particularly dramatic or fast, but very smooth and sophisticated. IMO it's quite different from what she's done before. Can't wait to see it again! Jumps and all.

PS: Love the new changed(?) donut into one handed spin!

Any guesses where (and what) her jumps are going to be? I was given the impression there will be a jump after the Ina Bauer, maybe the 2A.

Just a week before we can get an answer, but I'm gonna shoot for the moon and say it's 3f / 2a 3lz-3t. I was watching the set up for the jump over and over, and sometimes I thought it would be a lutz, sometimes a flip. Definitely not a triple-toe. Either way, I think she's going for two jumping passes in the second half, instead or just one, so there's that. And I put the 2a before the combo because of the Ina Bauer, although I think she just put it there for the show anyway.

Realistically, she's going for a 3lz-3t / 2a 3f (or 3l).

Maybe it will grow into something during the season, but I am disappointed with the music. After Elena's last year I am truly tired of those French love songs. Please, do something without French lyrics...

That first photo is absolutely stunning! Julia has always been beautiful, but that picture...wow!!! So hoping she totally rocks it this season!

Is it confirmed this is the music to one of her programs?

It's so creative though and absolutely nothing run of the mill about it. I love the music and think it's a perfect fit for her. So many skaters take the safe route and placate to the norm and this says...um...I'm a do my own thing. I love it.

Elena's "Je t'aime" is loud and attention seeking. I think that Yulia's selection is more delicate and classy (not that I don't like "Je t'aime" as a song, I do, it's dramatic and powerful and Lara Fabian is screaming "Je t'aime" as if it was a threat and it wouldn't fit Yulia at all).
So I don't think we're going to tire of Yulia's song selection.

Haha, I forgot that one! You got me there, but watching the performane I don't think that I was wrong. The music doesn't fit her and she's not interpreting the message of the song anyway. And I don't think that Elena got it right either, she was having too much fun skating to it.
Yulia has grown so much as a performer since then.

^Actually I am in complete agreement with you...

I've been harping on Elena for the um-is-Je'Taime-supposed-to-be-so-happy program since she first performed it. She's amazing, but she really needs to pull herself together when it comes to choosing the programs...

As for Yulia, you are right...she has changed so much since and I find the new program so much more suitable...

To me, there has always something so deeply moving about Yulia's skating. Even unpolished as she was back then, it was apparent how easily she can affect people. Now, she is deliberately weaving all that emotion into her performances and taking her skating to another level. I hope she finds the jumps and gets back on top this season.
