Yulia Lipnitskaya

Sorry, totally new to this thread so I'm sure this been discussed, but can this informed audience tell me if you think her troubles are due to being pushed too hard pre puberty. Did her body take on too much strain at that time?

I don't think that what happened yesterday was related to her puberty issues. She is done with puberty changes I guess. I hope they will clear it in some future interview what was the real problem there. If it was due to previous back injury or it was something more psychological.

Hey guys, I have removed a few posts on here. Just a friendly reminder that it's better to just report a post rather than responding to it and dragging the thread further.

Unfortunately she has received a lot of it since Sochi and it didn't help her. Sometimes I wonder if it actually contributes to her troubles. As long as she remained ignorant of the public in the pre-Sochi era her star was on the rise. Since then she realized she is being watched and just can't find a way to get to grips with it. :ohwell:

She reacts positively to fan support. She takes every opportunity to thank fans, telling them they make every success possible. Her negative reactions were directed at intrusions that violated her privacy, especially that of the paparazzi-style press. The worst was bugging her locker room and stalking her country relatives. Currently this is a thing of the past, and if it comes up in the future Alexei has shown that he won't tolerate it. She has always been very sensitive to letting everyone down. She reacts with gratitude to every public expression of support, posts instagrams frequently, and recently has welcomed barrages questions during binges on Ask. She welcomes respectful interest in her life.

The most important thing to remember is that her problems emerge only during the FS. That is the key to breaking the psychological grip from which she suffers. This has its roots in the negative forces from the year after the Olympics. They were all centered around her FS, R&J. She was just 16, at the mercy of respected adults who did not serve her interests. At times it became bizarre, for example when Ilya said he wrote Yulia's choreography to please Eteri, not Yulia. And Ilya's many interviews which he used as platforms to attack her. And Eteri suggesting that Yulia might be better off if she quit skating. We don't know 1% of that bloody story, she suffered every second of it. She described Eteri's group as a "very cruel world." Once these negative forces are put into place they can be tenacious. This at an age when she was psychologically quite vulnerable. At some point she will overcome these wounds. It is impossible to predict what or how long, but it will happen.

God, you can't fault Urmanov. The man is just such a dad for her, I can't even comment anything about it. And she looked really cold-blooded throughout the entire thing - not in a bad way, mind you. You could just see how focused and driven she was, she really wanted it.

Absolutely. This video provides the light I wish I'd had earlier today. Alexei is a mensch 100%. Your dad observation deserves much comment, his most important role. Skating aside, he is the single male in her life of only females. There is no better man for this challenge.

She was having much trouble before the skate began. It didn't stop her, but she and Alexei knew she was in trouble, I really believe she did not expected to get through the skate. See my next post, please.

Compare this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UOK-CYFyLNw with this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yDQlgiKH_aw . The FS curse started during warm up. This makes me believe Yulia and Alexei talked about what to do if things went south, and accounts for that cold, clinical look coldblueeyes observed. Alexei's only concern was whether she was physically able to continue after the FS interruption. I believe nothing surprised them, they were prepared.

Makeup? How is makeup ever a problem and what does a coach have to with makeup?

"Makeup" here might mean continuing the program from where it was interrupted. Anyway, calling the poor man an "id..t" was too harsh! I'm sure he wants the best for her.

We need to talk about the gloves she wore in the FS ;)

I think they looked really cool.

I am now hoping she will be fully fit for Russian nationals... that she will be totally awesome there... and that she will be chosen for the World's team. (I want all the other Russian ladies to be in the World's team too...! But Julia most of all, and especially since I'll be there in Helsinki myself)

According to some Russian sources, Julia had to interrupt the free program due to muscle clumps of her left leg, which prevented her from standing on one leg. Alexei Urmanov was kneading her leg during the warm up to relieve that muscle pain and she was experiencing the problem before the start of the free program. But fortunately, it was not a serious injury like a ligament rupture and she will recover by next month's Russian Championships.

- The athlete had done the first part of her free program, but when she started the second half, she suddenly asked her coach Alexei Urmanov to stop the music. As it turned out, Julia's leg muscles began cramping, which was why she could not step on it. After the dialogue with the referee, it was decided to resume the music for the skater to be able to complete her performance.
