I know she had issues that eventually surfaced but I still think people exaggerated about her jumps. This is fully rotated with excellent flow! The PreRotaion on the Salchow is completely normal too and all skaters do it.

Below is a copy of the interview with Elena Ilinykh where Elena describes the origins of her collaboration and of her friendship with Yulia. About a year after the Olympics Yulia remarked that no one could lift her spirits like Elena. Elena shares Yulia's penetrating caustic humor. This interview could have come from Yulia, it wastes no words and takes no prisoners. Together these two high-minded young women will do a lot of good.

- Whose idea was to create an academy?

- We talked with Julia and decided to make such a project. I understand that there are doubts that we will become good coaches. As the Olympic champions know us, but as professionals, we still need to prove ourselves. But we went through an incredible figure skating school and would like to share the experience that has been developed so that children can develop in addition to ice training. We sat at night, puzzled how best to organize, even sometimes quarreled and swore. We will be distinguished by what we will talk about sports psychology and innovations. It seems to me that psychology is generally an important part of coaching. If the coach does not feel the athlete, this is a very bad specialist. A bad coach is worse than a bad surgeon. I want to better know the children with their fears and tell them what to do in extreme situations, for example, I once tore the lace straight before the performance. I love that she gets alone time with her horse and I bet that her horse absolutely loves that it gets alone time with her.

Wonder if (hope) Yulia devotes some part of her life to her love of animals, in a veterinary capacity, perhaps, or advocacy, or both. But the new Academy makes so much good sense for her right now because she is so well known, admired, and well placed to mentor and guide young skaters along the right path.
