Yulia Lipnitskaya

Maybe someone else can. I'm not the most computer savvy person here. I can only post links. Sorry.

It looks like an I-spin in a layback position. She is only stretching on a ballet bar though. Soooo .... it's pure speculation on my part.

Yet there is some new spin she is working on that Eteri found to be amazing even for Yulia's standards. I've said all along its just pure speculation. Im just not very patient.

I posted the picture on italian figure skating group and they are going nuts.

Im not very patient too.

I highly doubt it! Looks like a stretch exercise. I think doing a spin in that position would be a physics/gravity defying impossibility... O_o

People would fall off their chairs in disbelief if she actually did it though! Me included!

I don't know if that is possible or not. I'm completely ignorant about these things, but if she does something like that it will be amazing and should be introduces as "Julia level", as Rhodium suggested.

I didn't get to watch the Sochi closing ceremony when it aired but I got to see it today....Tutberidze was sitting behind Putin lol...:slink:

As was Nina Mozer, V/T's coach, I'm assuming some of the other people around him were OGM coaches

anyone know why yulia abandoned the kill bill exhibition program? she only did it once, in her first gala of this season, then went back to her older gala program (je t'aime) and her old sabre dance short program. was kill bill too 'fun' for her more serious style? didn't want to have two programs based on movies? (american ones at that). those are my speculations anyhow

edit: speaking of yulia's gala programs, she skated to a piano instrumental of this song at the 2011 russian nationals gala... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vM2O-weQuEA

(russian punk band named Kino. the bandleader died in a car crash in 1990 and is a russian cultural icon. this song was recorded just before he died and released to the public afterward. lyrics here: http://www.lyricsmode.com/lyrics/k/kino/cuckoo.html)

Does anyone think there should be more consistency of how her name should be spelled. It should be Yulia Lipnitskaya which is the proper spelling. Yet even on this forum title its spelled different. And NBC is still putting it the other way too. It just seems like ppl could get together and decide on one spelling.

since her name has russian letters and not every russian letter has an english counterpart, there are several valid english spellings. agree though that "yulia" is prettier sounding than "julia". (perhaps simply on account of its novelty to english ears)

On another note....am I the only one who wishes this kid would be resting! She skated as hard if not harder than anyone all season! Seeing her fall like that makes me wonder if her heart is still in it. Lets face it. She just completed a 6yr quad. The goal was clear for her from age 9 when she moved to Moscow with one purpose in mind. To be in the Olympics. Well thru hard work and tremendous success she did it. So what's next? What does she want and what will be her drive? I'm just not sure if its in her best interest to be skating so often after a such an intense year. Apparently those around her feel differently but I'm starting to feel worried. Hopefully she is getting paid well and having fun more than anything else. my question is does she really need to keep skating these two programs still? She should be doing gala type skates and exploring herself for new ways to emote and mostly just to enjoy skating. I feel like I'm just rambling but my emotions toward this are quite unsettled. From the pictures I've seen she really does seem to be enjoying great support from her fans and the countless pictures she has posted of her and little kids are very endearing. I'm probably just way over protective but I really just want her to step away and come back with a fire inside. That's what I've grown to love about her. Maybe not the best skater but she brought heart and commitment unlike no one else. End rant.

I switched to Yulia when I realized all of her social media was spelled Yulia Lipnitskaya.
