Yulia Lipnitskaya

Thank you. :)

Alba is from Milan, world's capital of fashion, she knows the stuff. We have to listen to her at least a little bit... ;)

I understand. Here in the Northwest we wear Costco or Wallmart clothes all year round to almost everything, including office or theatre. Even opera. ... If we go to opera...
Wait a second, do we have opera here? :)

Wait a second, WHAT is opera?

I have no doubt that whatever she does will be amazing. Its Yulia that made SL so special and she'll do the same to whatever the next FS is...kind of exciting to think what it will be..she really set the bar high for herself. My only concern would be all the distractions all the fame will cause.

I'm torn. I dunno if I want her next program to be radically different, or if she's better off with something mournful again. Both are risky: if she tries the former and "fails" (more like, some people don't like it, even if she does it well), then there'll be people holding it as proof that she can't do anything else. If she does a similar program, she'll automatically get written off as one-note (even if the program is wonderful and she has many chances for other things in the future). Maybe she can do something different for the LP but have a sombre SP?

At the end of the day, perhaps Yulia's team simply has to find something she feels deeply.

There will always be people holding something as proof against her, no matter what she does and how she does it.
So better to go with your last suggestion, simply going with something she feels deeply and make a great vehicle for her. I have faith in Ilia doing just that.

Yeah. The guy is "crazy".

I wouldn't count on that. ;)
Not that I have anything against Yuna, but her ...ardent... fans surely remember for long, I am afraid.

But I think it's a good side that there were people who hate you, because if everyone loves you, not even a single dislike, then the world has gone mad, for sure. but of course the number of love fans Yulia is attracting will always be much much bigger than the dislike, we don't have to worry about that.

It is just common sense, the standard sequence of emotions when something bad happens, here in fact "bad": Yuna's time has come to an end and the time of "babies" with Yulia as "number one baby" has started: rejection-aggression-depression-acceptance. I guess, now we are still in between of aggression and depression so that one needs to wait and see for a couple of years.

Number of haters reflex how good you are. So it might be a good sign. Especially when you're exceptional beyond the norms, the level of hates skyrocket through the roof.

It's normal to not like a certain skaters. I don't like them all myself. I don't hate skaters but there are some which I dislike, if I may use this term which sounds better to me rather than hate.

I don't like it when some people try to criticise everything, in many cases unfair criticism, towards a skater just because he/she won or might be a better skater or competitor than your fav skater. I guess that's "normal" too.

Anyway, the point of this discussion is that it will be hard for her to repeat the success she had with her FS this season. I'm speaking in terms of program only.
This is for many reasons and it's normal. The subjcet of her FS was strong, with a powerful and heartbreaking music from a great and well known movie.
The idea behind it was great and suited her so well, because she is a 15 yrs old girl.
The next season she is not going to be news (I mean a new thing) anymore, and she set high standarts for herself so people would expect from her better or bigger things. I don't think that's always possible, so the important thing, IMO, would be that she skates something she really feels, have good choreo and above all she continues to be consistent and become stronger as a skater. That's it.
I don't know her personally of course, but from what I can see she is a hard worker, intelligent and a very profound person.
She seems to have strong character and personality. I think she will do very well now or in the future.

Well, the same thing happened to Yuzuru and his Romeo&Juliet 1.0 so I can get your point. The short we tend to forget but a successful long program often have more impact on the skaters themselves.
The thing is, Yulia is still growing and there will be tough time for her to challenge. Yulia is strong-headed, so I hope she will overcome that difficult time, just like Yuzuru who looked like a walking zombie in the previous season but performed so well this season. eventually, I think she will find a suitable package and perform well. If not the next season, then I think the following she will shine even more.
These skaters are still young, there are so many potential in them so let's wait and see.

Of course. They are still young and will have ups and downs, no doubt about that. I don't think people will expect them to be 100% in all competitions do they?
Well, I guess some will, if not just to use it as a criticism but who cares!
