Yulia Lipnitskaya

Could you give a link Sam? :)

I may have jumped the gun:slink: The Mod knows her music but it might be the one that Ilya had worked on with her. I guess I'm just going stir crazy or something. I did find a news story in which they discussed a few of the ideas presented from fans and Star Wars...as Princess Leia ...was one of them. Im going to try and be more calm in the future.

No problem Sam, we are all nervous and longing for news... ;)

Could someone explain to me, what kind of potential "private" or "closed" (dunno how to translate it) skate is Alexander Lakernik referring to?

Famous judge, chairman of the Technical Committee ISU Single and Pair Skating Alexander Lakernik said "Soviet Sport", which does not consider any program Lipnitskaya "so much trouble that it is worth to arrange private car."

- I have not heard anything about the treatment of Julia to the fans to propose her idea for any program - said Lakernik. - But I think this situation is not serious enough to make a fuss in the press and especially to arrange private hire. To me, none of the federation about this kind of rolled nobody has looked, I return to Moscow the fifth of August. So if the rental takes place, then it will probably without my participation.

- The idea is that if you have problems, then to a specialist you have to apply first.

- In training Lipnitskaya from the federation attended Alexander Kogan. I think this is enough. Again, I do not think this situation problem. Do Lipnitskaya very competent coach, Eter Tutberidze, I am convinced that she will figure everything out.

He referred to a skate with federation members as spectators only. The same thing happened when Pluschenko was selected to Sochi.

Thank you for reply.
Could you please write, what is the purpose of such skate?

It depends on situation. Russian Fed loves closed skates. Sometimes it helps to sent to events someone who didn't deserve it after Selections. Sometimes it helps to choose someone for TBA on Rostelecom.
In this case, I think, federation members could say the last word for Yulia's LP: should she change it or not.

They surely pay much attention to Yulia. High hope for her I suppose.

Today I've heard some speculations on russian radio about her LP. There were people (journalists, maybe, I don't know) who saw her LP, at least some pieces of it. They were saying she looked good, the program fits her and she looked 'into it'. So the only reason she wants to change it because the music is not famous, and it's not 'striking'. She thinks judges will see less in the programm because of that.
So I don't know, I'm just happy she has LP, if she wants to change it, it's her right. She still can use the pieces she already learned for her new LP.

Does no one have any information about her music?

This's not going to happen - a closed skate for Yulia, as it's written in the above interview her trainer is very competent(not a big fan of "closed skates") and she might ask some people about their opinion but that's it, at the end of the day she and Yulia will decide. They've never relyed on RFederation, only the last 2 years they have been supported well by them.

"Last" word in sense that it would it be binding for Yulia?

I'm not sure. it`s only my thoughts. But in Russia the federation members opinions aren't discussed usuallly. For example, last year Julin was asked to change the music of BS FS. Nobody asked their opinion. In Russia Tarasova is always right.
But, as I understand, there won`t be any closed skates. Lakernik doesn`t see any need in it. So only Yulia and her team would decide.

I hardly doubt, as I've written Eteri and Yulia have worked with litlle help from the RF so far so they're not so dependent on them as the other Russian skaters. So they will feel free to take or reject "the advice" if something like that happens in the future(highly improbable but you never know), for this season they've already made their choice for the music and I'm sure Eteri will take the responsibility if something goes wrong.

Well, the situation for Bobrova- Soloviov last season was quite shaky. Their 1st spot in Russian dance pairs was fading away quickly since the debut of ballet program by Ilyinykh-Kazalapov. So they had to do something with that "Birds" program- and one of the easiest ways was to change the music of the widely unknown (except Russia) composer to the world classics. Years ago Julin was firm to keep the Don Quixot program for his then young dance pair... Ilyinykh-Kazalapov! And no one could make him change that program even though at the beginning of the season all we heard in the Russsian press was lots of negative comments from the Russian Federation officials. It's not that Tarasova rules the whole Russian figure skating. She has her influence but she can't make decisions on her own.
