Yulia Lipnitskaya

Voronov's performances were indeed very strong.
Pitkeev was slow and showed the atitude "just test skate I don't have to put much focus into this". If that was the case then it's fine, but from what I've seen I am not impressed by both of his programs.
Adelina seemed to be prepared. I wonder if she can pull it together in competition. Huge expectation and burdens on her.
Yulia, I am so worried. I hope my baby can get over this time.

Of course the media always exaggerates everything. Not only Yulia's story, in general, they want the jaw-dropper or tear-jerker stories.
But two things they say are true.

1. It is unusual and maybe worrying that she still has no FS skate ready. Not the end of the world, but definitely not how she wanted it or ideal (like she said herself, they just couldn't find the right music)

2. It is very probable and understandable that a person who isn't social or outgoing in the first place, will close down even more after sth as crazy as what happened to Yulia. I do not believe that Sochi went by her without leaving a mark or changing her in some way (may it be good or bad) and to some extend. Anything else is delusional.
And that influences a person's character. And it may influence her skating.

I don't think that her skating might be influenced by this tbh.

About the press: She is right to keep them at distance, especially what happened in Sochi. Digging up for her father that she doesn't even know.
She does give interviews, so she does give information. It's not like she doesn't share info.
She already gave a long one, after the closed test. There is no reason for her to speak everytime she skates in shows.
I'm sure that once they have the FS they will speak. Whether is a new program or an old one.
At the moment there is no reason, as I said.
We all know what are they going to ask: Do you have the FS? Why not?

Alba reading my mind like usual. ;)
That's EXACTLY what they would have asked about: "Do you have FS?", "Are you nervous that you don't have it?", "Is Eteri nervous because of that?", "All others have FS, how nervous do you feel about it?", "Is your mom nervous a little bit?", "Is it true Persik was barking during Mulan program, so you had to abandon the idea?"...
She clearly doesn't now everything yet, so instead of stuttering, providing vague or even untrue answers, she decided to avoid interviews - it's her right, all the more so those weren't even official ISU events. :rolleye:

By the way - I like that single hand push gesture A LOT! It's so elegant! :)

That's beautiful, and you are right. That hand gesture and her expression are so elegant and beautiful.
I just looove this SP. The more I see it the more I love it.

Oh she sure is right not to talk to them and like I said what happened in Sochi and afterwards (not the press we talk about right now) might influence her skating.
And to me it's just logical that someone who doesn't like attention per se, will like it even less after Sochi. They pestered and stalked her whole family, hid recording devices in her locker room and invented things about her.
This bad experience has made her more introverted than she was in the first place. She is 16.
-------
Yes the gestures are indeed nice and I also realized that the more often you watch it, the more little gestures you notice.

Omg And here I thought Japanese and Korean media are bad enough. Now I know I was so wrong. Those reporters should be banned forever!!!

I've always wondered who tipped the media off about her absent father right after she became the star of the Olympics. I don't chose anyone to focus on and blame but so many people were gunning to hold her back. Could have been anyone acting as the little birdie telling tales. Can you imagine only being 15 and working so hard and these extremely personal details of your personal life becoming the focus. It's a cruel world and I'm sad to say how little of the whole media attack I found surprising.

I'm trying to stay calm about her programs and training but at the same time I really hope Eteri and Ilya realize how much of their success is due to Yulia's hard work and success. I get it Ilya.....she is difficult and you have to wait 5 minutes for her to answer the door after 5 minutes of knocking. I find it hard to believe she isn't worth waiting 10-15 minutes for. Just look at the success every ice show has that she is in.

Some people are just as rare as a comet.

Sorry for the rant. For some reason I'm a bit emotional today. It seems to happen every month or so :slink:

I agree with satine: :points:

I think Ilya was after the money this post Olympics. His show is doing very well apparently.
There are other good russian choreo and she could've chosen one of them, if she wanted. I'm sure they will handle this.

I agree.

You know what annoys me most in that article? This: Eteri missed the skates, and Lipnitskaya as well as Voronov and Pitkeev had to speak for themselves.

A part from the fact that there is nothing wrong to speak for yourself, the journalist is implying here that Eteri somehow is neglecting her students.
Did they asked where she was? Did they check before writing that?
Eteri did not go with Medvedeva at her JGP in France becuase she had to be with Voronov, Yulia and Pitkeev for the russian closed test, with the specialists.
There are still 2 months till CoC. Maybe she already has a new FS or will use the old one, R&J. Not a big deal.
People older than her, and with more experience, have recycled their programs for the Olympics, which is the most important competition. ;)

The good news is we'll see high quality video very shortly

I'm watching right now. Lucky me:laugh:

Yulia looks SO innocent in this beautiful sky blue dress:love:

Edit: Yulia asked russian journalists not to ask her about her new FS AT ALL, and not to mention her in their reports. I think things are pretty bad, huh?

It would seem that the broadcast of the ice show Yulia took part in on Saturday will air today at 18:50 Moscow time. Hopefully that means we will see an HD version of her Romeo and Juliet at some point very soon. :yay:

http://news.sportbox.ru/Vidy_sporta/Figurnoe_katanie/..

Her FS music will be Romeo and Juliet? Is it official? I missed this information somehow. She skated to this music at the show. But it definetely did not looked like her FS. At least not a good one.
