Yuzuru Hanyu: 2013-14 Season

Talking about junior skaters, there is one from Spain, Ernesto Martinez (@ErniMartinez). He is 15, NoviceA chamption of Spain in 13/14. He is a huge fan of Yuzu as well. You could tell by his Twitter which is full of Yuzu's pictures.

According to his latest tweets, he got help from Javier who delivered his letterto Yuzu.

He learns Japanese and writes Yuzu's name with those little two hearts:

Such a fanboy

It is almost end of May. Wondering when they will reveal which GP competitions Yuzu will go. I really hope he will come to Skate America.

On Tumblr, a fan has posted Yuzuru's LP in Saitama with Poland commentary and English subtitle. :popcorn:The commentators predicted so well. Enjoy Poland comments here: http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=No2q1BAEeDg

How nice to see that someone posted here my video! :D
I'll upload also SP :D One of these commentators (the one who screamed after Yuzuru finished his program) is a huge Yuzuru's fan. After LP in GPF he said that he adores Yuzuru xD

wow them fanboys

Martinez seems to be pro in Japanese ...
i love his wallpaper

Yes, Erni Martinez appears to be a good student of the language. I think being a Yuzuru fan serves as an incentive. BTW, Spanish skaters seem to go for Yuzuru in a big way. ;) I know our own Michael Christian Martinez is also a big fan.

Thank you Poice for all your hard work and Meoima for posting the link. I can never have enough of listening to the different commentaries on Yuzuru's performances, and of course that can only only made possible by gracious fans who put in time and effort doing the translation (same with articles, photo captions, etc.). It's just so touching how Yuzuru can inspire his fans to such "labor of love." Kudos.

The Polish Eurosport commentators can certainly give Simon and Chris of British Europsort a run for their money as "fan uncles"! LoL at one of them saying he can't recognize his colleague for being so emotional at seeing Yuzuru's fighting performance. The only quibble I have with them is their view that Yuzuru gave up a bit in his Sochi FS because I thought he was fighting until the very end there despite letting the pressure of the occasion get to him. Nonetheless, it's uncanny how they said Yuzuru would win even before the scores came up: "He's going to win it! He must win it!"

BTW I noticed how the tips of Yuzuru's ears get all pink after his strenuous performances. :)

Hello, everyone! I' m a big fan of Yuzuru. Though I've been interested in him since the world in 2012, I really fell in love completely after the Sochi. I went to the World for 3 days and cried by his R&J.... Since then, I've been checking many blogs regarding Yuzuru where there are tons of information about Yuzuru. I was wondering if there was any fan site of Yuzu as I wanted know how foreign people think about him. Finally, I found this great fan site where Yuzuru's fan from all over the world are talking about him! It's so impressive!! Yoroshiku Onegai Shimasu!

Welcome, naranja3355!!!

I don't know if this video has been posted here or not: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TRRMwN1S7yM

Yuzu's interview in 2010. Highlights include: Yuzu in a tailored suit; answer to what he would do at leisure time (action games), whether he has a girlfriend (no), and what type of girls he likes (Maki Horikita).

This rink was closed because of the financial problem. After Ms. Arakawa won the gold medal, she encouraged some company for the rink. Then it was the time the rink was re-opened.

〜around 5:00 when Chibi-Yuzu appeared.〜

Reporter: How did you feel after being coached by Arakawa San?
Yuzu: I was filled with motivation that I definitely participate in the Olympics.

R: Do you think you will get any medal?
Y: I probably get one.

R: What can you do in skating?
Y: Biellmam Spin.
R: We'll, so please start Biellman, then Ina Bauer!!

〜After his performance.〜

R: Was it the first time to perform in front of Arakawa San? How do you feel?
Y: I felt tension very much!

I definitely agree that Yuzuru wearing a well-tailored suit is a highlight of that video. As always, he showed his poise and articulateness in the interview.

Watching the video one realizes the meteoric nature of Yuzuru's rise to the top of the skating world. In 2010, Yuzuru placed 4th in the Japan nationals behind the accomplished trio of Takahiko, Nobunari, and Daisuke and thus was kept out of the 2011 Worlds. After placing 4th and off the podium in the 2011 CoC, it was suggested to him that he may need more competitive experience, and he reacted with:

"Experience?
If I said such a thing (If I admitted that the cause of my defeat is lack of experience),
I will never be able to defeat Mr.Takahashi and Kozuka, Oda. That's just an excuse.
I want to reach to the world championships in this year, no matter what!
I have to enter for the GP final for that!
Therefore, I will win CoR surely!
I thought, 'First of all, I will go up to the podium' this time. I didn't insist much to win.
However, it is not possible to go to the final unless I win next game.
By being driven to the extremity, I get to feel 'I can do nothing but win', on the contrary." (http://blogs.yahoo.co.jp/masqueradewaltz/folder/387811.html?m=lc&p=3).

He did win the 2011 CoR and qualified both for the 2011 GPF and 2012 Worlds. Fastforward to 2014, we see him now as the GPF, Olympic, and World champion. :)

You guys may already know this TV program. Yuzu was sooooo cute (^o^)/
I felt it was destiny that Yuzu won the gold medal after Arakawa.

Welcome naranja3355! (BTW pardon my curiosity, but am wondering whether you chose the username "naranja" because it is also a citrus fruit like "yuzu.") Thank you for the video link and the translation. I see Shizuka as one of Yuzuru's original fan aunties. :)
