Yuzuru Hanyu: 2013-14 Season

Thanks for the quick reply, Doublemeat! I thought they were a lot more expensive. For 20,000 yen I hope I can take a picture with Yuzu or do they not allow that?

I'm afraid taking pictures or videos is not allowed in Japan's shows. JSF has very strict regulation about this.

In latest interview of newspaper (Chunichi Shimbun), Yuzu quoted the Matthew McConaughey's famous last words when accepting the award for Best Actor at the 2014 Oscars. (Yuzu really learned something from TV program.) :)

Interview: http://goo.gl/GF4iRz

It indeed inspired me somehow when I heard earlier. I would like to share the original paragraphs that McConaughey said to all of you.

"To my hero, that's who I chase.

When I was 15 years old, I had a very important person in my life come to me, 'Who's your hero?' and I said, 'I don't know. I gotta think about that, give me a couple of weeks.' I come back two weeks later, and this person comes up, 'Who's your hero?' and I said, 'I thought about it and you know who it is, it's me in 10 years.

So I turned 25 10 years later and that same person comes to me and says, 'So are you a hero?' and I said, 'Not even close!' And she said, 'Why?' and I said, 'Because my hero is me at 35.' Every day and every week and every month of my life, my hero is always 10 years away. I'm never gonna be my hero. I'm not gonna obtain that, I know I'm not, which is just fine with me because that keeps me somebody to keep on chasing.

So to any of us, whatever those things are, whatever we look up to, whatever it is we look forward to and whoever it is we're chasing—to that I say, alright, alright, alright. And then I say, just keep livin'."

Thanks echotpe for another marvelous read on Yuzuru. ^It all fits in with what I recognized in him early on and what makes him such a compelling figure to me: he has that inner fire that makes him always strive to be better, knowing that the competition is really with one's self. "Blue Flame" indeed.

And welcome to my kabayan BellaGrey!

According to twitter resport, Yuzu performed Hana Ni Nare again today. 3 jumps in all: 3F, 3A, 3T(Fall:rolleye:) And his tension is even higher than yesterday!!! He did a 4T3A3A3A combo at the final. Crazy kiddo!

^OMG!

But I really hope he gets to rest soon. He looked really tired in the picture with Adelina.

Thanks Doublemeat for the updates!

Very expensive,,,I do hope someday meet Yuzuru, too. Hi, everyone! I am also big fan of Yuzuru. I'm enjoying this thread very much. I can't understand English well, so,I'm afraid that my poor English makes trouble to you.

Now, I found new reports about Yuzuru at Osaka Ice show.
His play was Hanani nare, my favorite!! and Paris for encore.
At finale, Yuzuru did 4T3A3A3A combination!!!! Oh,boy!! (But please take care of yourself. Yuzu, I understand you are 19 years old, but please,,. )
Yuzuru , Pchan and Denis 3A together. "へ" pause with Nobunari and next, all together . He enjoyed the show, it makes me happy but please,,,you know.
I feel like his mother,,,.

^oh, fall on 3T? It's funny:biggrin: I believe he's fine, just tiny fall. The best thing to me is that he looks really happy and enjoying the shows. Might be a bit tired, but he's in a good form and mood.

BTW, the 4T-3A-3A-3A is terrific! Is he going to keep adding a 3A to the combo each time?

Konnichi wa everyone! A big fan of Yuzuru, I have been lurking in this thread for the past few days. Was wondering if anybody would know how much a ticket to the ice shows on Japan would cost in PHP? I wanna save enough so that someday I'll be able to meet Yuzu, though I really think that it won't be easy to meet him considering his fame in Japan. Anyway, I hope to read more interesting bits of info re the Ice Prince. Nice to meet you all from the Philippines! :)

Same sentiment here! I just wish that Yuzuru will also perform here in the Philippines so that we can watch him!!! I don't know if that's possible, but still, I wish something like that will happen :popcorn:

^ We have to make a venue capable of that in our beloved country first happy_Yuzu_fan. It is quite easy getting JP visa these days anyway, hehe! I don't think I want to risk Yuzu getting injured by skating in our malls

Oh I wish there was a way for us to meet him without shelling out too much money. Just meeting him would be enough. :x

When I look at all the skaters who come to these shows...Yuzu, V/M, Mao, Denis, Javi, P/T etc, I wish I lived in Japan. :bang:

^Maybe Araneta Coliseum? :) I remember there were some ice shows done there. Glad to find kababayans here in this thread btw. Hi happy_Yuzu__fan! Great moniker!

Am dreaming that maybe someday we can have Michael Christian Martinez and Yuzuru together in an ice show where they'll do their Biellmann spins side-by-side. The show can be a benefit one for the victims of the 2011 Japan earthquake and the 2013 Haiyan supertyphoon in the Philippines. Those two boys are their respective countries' pride and joy.

That's actually a great idea, Maria Victoria. I think that Martinez and Hanyu are alike in the sense that they are both considered a national pride and treasure of their respective countries, although Hanyu has always thought of his people back at home as his main motivation for winning skating competitions. I'm not sure what exactly motivates Martinez other than his love for the sport, but it'd be pretty interesting to see these two boys come together in one show for a common goal. :)
