Yuzuru Hanyu: 2013-14 Season

@Pamina, your request has been fulfilled http://dayzdai.tumblr.com/post/89476996080/album-drops-in-like-2-weeks Loving the comment of the gif
I know, I was like one of the first ten crazy people to put that in her favos  but thank you so much for thinking about me (I'm so buying that album and don't even care that the shipping fee from Japan is ridiculously high)

I love it...even though I can't read it. Is that Javi kissing Tomas on the cheek?
I think so. Darn it, that's probably as close to a picture as we're gonna get, isn't it?

According to tweets, Yuzuru really likes Marin Honda. They were cute and hugged each other repeatedly When he succeeded with his 4Lo, Marin, Javier, Tomash and Oda rushed to him and hugged him. It reminded the moment when the footballer scores a goal and everyone hugs him. Javier also raised his hand as of a champion. These two were sooo happy.
That sounds awesome  good to know they're all having so much fun together.

Wow they're all so sweet :-D Maybe Javi's been practicing that 4 loop too haha.

If skaters themselves know what to do with their postures and basic skills, they wouldn't need their coaches, would they? Of course the coaches will have to push their students to the reasonable directions in practice. It's their job anyways. ;)

I know and I hope Orser won't be lax wirh Yuzu just bec he has the OGM now haha. Yuzu just needs to be grounded and focused on what Orser tells him to do.

With all the great news of Yuzu (and other skaters) in Beppu being successful, I wish there was at least a news snip-it or summary. It would be amazing if we could at least see him jump the 4Lo ... :slink:

He jumped quad loop? Awesome! Hasn't been done in competition yet. I'd rather he do that instead of quad lutz since he makes history this way.

Silhouette video is very cool.

I think he is doing quads in shows because he knows that's what will get the crowd going. To an average fan jumps are the easiest component to understand, IMHO. Like a fan service.

He knows how to work the crowd into cheering harder! And of course if he falls he can just smile and pout and do those little cute expressions which the audience adores too! It's a win-win situation!

Nah, the kid is not that calculated. He tries the quads simply because he is a show-off, which technically most skaters are. anyways 4Lo is a new jump so it's good for him to try so he can stabilize it, as long as he stay healthy. I hope so.

I don't think that being cute can bring out good performance or make everyone forget mistakes and feelings from bad performance. Champions don't try to influence the audience, it's also pointless. So disagree with you.
Also, I agree with Meoima. He's quite a show-off boy when it comes to skating  So he tries to beat everyone with his quads. And don't forget his obsession with "I must give the people's money worth"

LOL, "show-off" perfectly describes Yuzu but it's not the type you'll feel annoyed at. Every time he does his super sequences and join quad battles, I just shake my head and laugh and mutter these words. As Miki & Kana said, he's a narcissist. If I remember correctly, Yuzu said that jumping the 4Lo improved his 4S so maybe that's why he does it. I'm worried about his knees though, I don't want to go through another ver of Dai 2.0.

I just saw a sweet interview of Yuzu and Kanako in DOI 2012 (starting 4:37). Wondering if there is a translation of it. Yuzu seems quite nervous at the final question. Really want to know what he says. Many thanks!!

I think i saw one around the web before. My Japanese isn't so good but I'll just give a general summary, is that OK?

First he said that he was quite happy to medal during Worlds 2012 with almost flawless skate then he talks about changing coaches and that there will be difficulties or challenges but he will give his best. On that day he will skate to rock music which he never used before. I can't get the next part but I think he was talking about his injury at Nice then he assures the audience that he's OK and will jump so they should watch everything. Funny thing is he failed as you can see and he does "dogeza" which is the most polite position in asking for forgiveness.

Yuzu-Kana: The host said that they are of the same age and asked them if they do remember how and where they've first meet. Yuzu says he does and told Kana to go answer first. Kana said she also remembers. They met at a novice training camp (I guess, Nobeyama?) and that Kana's lasting image of first meeting Yuzu is that he's quite skinny and of course the mushroom hair. Yuzu on the other hand said something about floor exercises (off ice lesson?) and that Kana was always hyper off ice but she was the best dancer. He believes that if she'll be able to do the jumps then she'll be world class. They knew each other since the 3rd grade. The host then asked if they always get along and Kana surely answered "yes!" while Yuzu isn't quite sure thus he needs Kana to confirm (she affirms that they do get along). The announcer then asks them if they are OK and Yuzu asked if they could use that clip (he thinks it might be cut out). I'm not sure how to properly phrase the next question but Yuzu answered that in their Junior days they always compete together like in the GP since there aren't a lot of them in their batch and so he tells Kana that she should also win, they were encouraging each other to strive harder and that hopefully in the future they progress together and that it would be great if they could stand at the top of the Olympic podium together.

I saw a video of Mroz's attempt in competition, I think liberty. It turned to be a step out but still was a good attempt. He also did the first ratified quad lutz. Pity he hasn't joined higher-level competitions since 2012. I guess he and Yuzuru just share the same passion in doing quads :-D
