Yuzuru Hanyu: 2014-15 Season

From Twitter reports: Yuzuru had a long convo with Empress and then had to mop up his brows as he sweat. Looked relieved when he took a glass with a tomato juice afterwards. He also had a convo with a Princess Mako (Maco?) as she held his gold medal. After the Tea ceremony he gave interviews outside and journalists thanked him for that. He replied: Thank you for working on such a hot weather! (That is so thoughtful of him! I admire that!)
Then he said that right before the big convo he had some tea and that cause him sweating. (Ah-a, never mind plus 31 Celsius and a winter jacket he had to put on for the ceremony).
Crown prince Naruhito asked a Q from his daughter Aiko: what is Yuzu's brand (best) jump? Yuzu said it's axel because it's so successful for him, asked to transmit his answer to Aiko. Prince smiled and said he would.
Talking a lot like always I see ^^
【news】Yuzu's DVD ranks top of sales, congratulation!

Congratulations :yay:

Good news about his dvd/ blue ray
Great news about his family vacation, going back to training in Canada, about time for both.
The part about the quad in the seconf half of his LP made me question his sanity.
I think I´m gonna start being a fan to Kasai, he looks like a fun guy. I´m guessing neither Akiko, Daisuke, Tatsuki, Mao and Kanako were at the tea ceremony?

Thank you all for the information.

From now on he plans to train in Canada, then go back to Japan and spend time with his family. He said that it's been about 10 years since they had a family trip, so he hopes to relax and just be Yuzuru, member of Hanyu family, not Yuzuru-Hanyu-The-Skater.
Good. I hope he gives himself the time to recharge his batteries (maybe "spare time" is in his vocabulary after all). And after those months of complete media frenzy some downtime with his family will probably do him good.

and all I can think is "usually it's only his sleeves that are way too long, at least the tie is something new to get nitpicky about" I know, I'm horrible... I blame my parents that I even see stuff like that

Seems that Yuzu will be at Finlandia Trophy again! Perhaps it's a lucky place for him to start the season

Also, I remember sometime ago, someone has asked if the Japanese fans are pulling any petition for TOI to broadcast nationally in Japan. There is no formal petition, but I've seen fans are still urging others to submit their requests through the BS Fuji TV comment page: http://www.bsfuji.tv/top/voice/index.html

Perhaps those who can write in Japanese can leave a comment there. Now they're putting in request for both TOI and FaOI Toyama show to be broadcasted. Hope we will get at least one of them.

Just found a new pic from Akko's blog

Can someone translate what he said in the interview?

I would like to know how many points a quad in the 2nd part of his LP gives him?
It's very simple:
For a jump in the second half, all you have to do is multiply its base value by 1.1 and you'll get the base value with the bonus points.
So, for the 4T, the base value is 10.3.
Thus, 10.3 * 1.1 = 11.33.
For the 4S, the base value is 10.5.
Thus, 10.5 * 1.1 = 11.55.
And that's it! So all you need is a calculator and the ISU protocols for the BVs and you find out yourself without having a scoresheet in front of you.

I quad in the 2nd part? Last season I could watch the program more relaxed after the first few seconds (especially after the 4S, but also 4T). This season I guess I'll only watch his performances on youtube after knowing the results:laugh:

Oh ok. Easy to understand !

So for me, maybe the 4S at the beginning and if he failed, he can reassure with a 4T in 2nd part. With a 4S in 2nd, points are higher but his 4S is not stable sufficient to make it in the 2nd part.

I don't think it would be wise to put 4T at the second part of the LP as long as it being placed at the 2nd part of the SP already gives him problems. Yeah, shows overload, tired. Still... too risky. If he handles his new and daring jump strategy in his new SP perfectly he wouldn't have to worry about taking a risk at LP. At least for the upcoming season. I think he's safe for now. Even if he might lose to Javier once. Not to anyone else, please. I can only handle Javier top Yuzu at the podium.

Honestly, putting the quad in the 2nd half of the SP is more risky than putting one in the 2nd half of the LP - there's less jumps in the short and less chances to build up more points after a fall/UR/unclean landing. I mean, he already fell on the 4S almost every single competition in the last 2 seasons but managed to win a bunch of things. As shown by Worlds this year, his crazy SP scores can be matched but his LP base value still gives him more of an advantage against the other skaters.

Quads or not, may the skater that skates the best two programs always be the one that wins. Whether that may be Yuzuru, Javi, Tatsuki, or any other skater. Yuzuru will not always win.

You see, I don't think it would be easier for him to jump back on his blades as he did after the fall on 4S at the beginning of a program when it would be placed in the 2nd part of the program, especially when he loves his axels in it. Anyways it's too soon to say, let's wait till Finlandia Trophy and see what surprises he brings on the ice.
One more thing though: if losing it in the SP is a part of a winning by chasing smbd else strategy- it might work for him too. Funny but possible.

how cute :)

thanks for the news about the dvd, great to know that it's selling well., i saw a pic on twitter of the rack/shelf where they display the dvd on its first day of release and it was already empty! haha

does anyone here know if the dvd that theyre selling in japan could be played on different countries? coz i remember there are types of dvd that they sell that cant be played to other countries (i think its called dvd region code or something?) anyways... does any body here know?

they can be played, but your player has to be set to the same region code as the DVD (and you also have to be careful about that PAL vs. NTSC thingy. It has something to do with the format, I'm not quite sure, I just heard that this can sometimes be a problem. I know that my computer can play those, too, so that's all I really need to know  but it's also in the wikipedia article if you wanna check)

Overall I don't think he needs to put quad in 2nd half of long. His current LP layout is still unmached on BV by a bit. But if it will do some interesting choreo parts, then why not ..... as long as he will move 4S out of the way immadietaly after start. I would not be able to handle this first part if he would be putting 4S in 2nd part :bang:

But then I think he will move loop to the first part, because he can do axels even when he will be tired
