Yuzuru Hanyu: 2014-15 Season

I decided to share the whole incident video as some thought Yuzuru or Han Yan was unconscious which looking at this video both seems fazed and disoriented but not unconscious~ The video starts from before the incident onwards until competition.

IMO... looking at this video seems like Han Yan chin was hit by Yuzuru's head and his chest was hit by Yuzuru's shoulder. While Yuzuru's injury mostly cause by falling on the ice.. the right side of his head, his chin and his chest. Yuzuru can also be seen coughing hard while lying on the ice.

I wish both full recovery

I'm deeply shocked .. at this point a cerebral CT scan should have already been administered , at least I hope so.

just watched Yuzuru's LP, What a gutsy, gutsy performance, I was having tears in my eyes the whole time. I will never forget this!!!!!!!!

Here's tonight's video broadcasted by ESP UK, I can see frida from youtube is still uploading the men's event so I figured this hasn't been posted yet.

My utmost respect to you, Yuzu. You are indeed a stubborn little boy with a steel of heart.

I do wish that you'd be more cautious, but figured you probably don't want to disappoint fans again after withdrawing from Finlandia already. Sometimes I really wish you won't bear yourself with so much responsibilities. But you are who you are, and I will always support you with all my heart.

Im still stunned on what happened and all i wanna say is im utterly disappointed for the decisions of both teams for letting the two boys skate. I just hope that he and han yan will be okay.

thanks echotpe for the pictures.
someone said that he was not waving but was asking for the the cameraman to stop filming him.

Can someone tell me why nobody came for him when he fell ? He was alone for long time before emergency service comes. What's wrong with them ? An official competition like that with an emergency service not efficient, in what world we re living ?

And anyone can tell me how Hanyu can be 2nd ? He fell 5 times ...

he did rotated all his jumps, and was deducted 5 points

BV and judges being generous with PCS both with Han Yan and Yuzuru (and while he was overscored in pcs (I would have given him something around 78-80) thanks to his BV he would have been second nonetheless)

He fell but rotated his jumps, others either fell or poped their jumps which are more costly than falls
He should have had lower PCS but even if you deduct 10 points he would have won silver, and if you deduct 15 points he would have bronze
The entire competition was a mes

Thank you, ranran and dasani for the links!
With all the fragments of pictures and seconds-long videos, it's very much appreciated to be able to see the full scene of what happened.

Dasani, I was about to post a link to the FS and you posted a better quality one!
Seeing the program again without the sound getting cut off and misaligned is nice. It really is a beautiful program... you can really feel the willpower he uses to get through it--especially towards the end with the ina bauer-turned-spread-eagle and onwards.
If anyone wants another language, here's the Russian (I think?) one: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=crG4xG32cuQ
You can hear more clearly here Brian telling Yuzuru to keep breathing...

Just got back to my hotel after a crazy crazy night... Wish I didn't have to see it in person because oh it felt so so terrible to see it happen right in front of you. How he basically lay there for what seems like so long before anyone comes; the sight of those blood, and so much more. I was shaking so hard. I know many people watching the stream think the audience was cheering and it's distasteful, but let me tell you that yes, there were some completely brainless kids( I'll imagine they are kids) who even threw stuff animals right AT him as he was being carried away by his Sendai therapist after the kiss and cry. But many of us were praying for his health and thinking: 頑張らなくてもいい,which means it's okay even if you don't try to fight and stick or until the end.

Of course once into his program, all we can do is pray that he go through with it without another injury. As regards to his decision, I'm not him so I can't say for sure, but I think he felt that he must not let his fans down. Around 1/3 of the crowd is Japanese; the other 1/3, maybe even more, is there to see him only I would say.

This has turned out to be a weird GP experience for me, even just with yesterday's short programs. This is off topic but apparently CoC always invite Chinese Senior Photography club to photograph the event as a... Assignment? I don't know, but there were so many older folks with super long camera, sitting and standing wherever they want to, blocking everyone's view. Apparently they get free tickets( I read this on Weibo: a girl said that's where she got hers) They were there for photography, not figure skating, and they pretty much had to announce no flash after every performance yesterday. There were so many flashes. Security did eventually stepped up and told people where they can't stand, but that was not until the men's short. Seriously so many shouting going on yesterday when people were asking them to move and they wouldn't budge.

Sorry for the long post but I just need to get this off of me before I explode. For those thinking about Worlds next year in Shanghai...good luck?:slink:

The full impact of falling on his chin knocked the wind out of him, when he turned and breathing hard, then coughing...god he could have swollowed tounge

So sorry you had to see so much trauma in your trip.
But thank you for the report.
I really think that COC was something strange and 'off' about the whole competition, the men and women both did not perform well...but since you were there, what was the atmosphere like?

I was there too and it really effected me. I am still shaky. When I saw all that blood I began to fear the worst, but he was such an amazing trooper for going forward. I respect him even more now.

Is there any update on his condition?

He's going to Japan for treatment tomorrow. He got stitches. He's out of the hospital and resting at the hotel.

Yuzuru Hanyu.....you foolish but brave boy. I am wishing for your full recovery both physically and emotionally and that there are no lasting affects because of your stupid decision to continue. It was an amazing fight to the finish and I know that WD was never an opinion for you. Its okay to let go once in a while and choose to not fight, its a different kind of bravery but also admirable. I hope in the future you will realize your healthy is worth more than a piece of medal to not only your friends and family but also to your fans and those who care.

While I respect him and his decision, he needs to be sat down, with Han Yan, and be given a long...long lecture about their behaviors and decisions. A head injury is NOT the same as a normal physical injury.....(The teams need to be given that lecture too since the boys were probably completely out of it when making the choice and it their job to sit them down and MAKE them understand the consequences).

Also, congratulations on your silver medal, it was earned with grit, will, bravery and stupidity.

+1

I can't believe this happened, really  ... when I heard the news I didn't want to watch his FS because I was heartbroken. But after watching the POTO free skate, it was absolutely touching and amazing!! Despite the falls and horrible injury, he still got silver(that's craziness by itself) and I hope Yuzu really rests well.

He really risks everything while skating and it is truly shown today, with blood and tears.

(P.S. That was a really dangerous decision to continue the FS and not pull out of competition, that head injury looks serious)

this whole event was so depressing, I just can't... I don't know, bad aura all over , I don't know:disapp:

Hope Yuzu and Han Yan are ok, and will end only on some pain.
