Yuzuru Hanyu: 2014-15 Season

It's going to be absolute agony now, waiting for the NHK Trophy... and news on Yuzuru's recovery.

I just canNOT make myself watch the video of either his warm-up or his LP again. I vaguely remember some Phantom of the Opera music and a costume which I thought actually looked really pretty, but I will only end up crying again, and I've done enough of that today for this young man and Yan Han. I just hope, oh, hope so much that Hanyu will recover quickly and skate well at NHK and *then* I will pay attention to the program and costume.

I see, thanks. Amazing how you guys know his planned choreography despite this being his first skate!

there have been practice video of his free both took by japan television crew and fans... if you search in the thread you will find them :)

With all sadness and agony aside (which is really hard to do at this point), I really, really like the costume --it looks amazing. It's the first costume that has enough detail and style that perfectly matches Yuzu.

His Parisienne Walkways costume was okay, the Romeo and Juliet no.2 costume was a 6.5/10 for me; his Ballade no.1 costume is bearable. The diagonal style and division of the colours are really well designed, who was the designer for this? I commend that person for this wonderful design.

Well guys as all of you I'm vey sad and shocked at what happened. This accident is too unfortunate. I have no more words. I'm just so shocked...

I was so excited about the new program and I waited all the week to see it and I still can't believe what happened.

'This is not the time to be a hero. You have to take care of yourself.' (wise words, Brian)

Yuzu was waving and smiling while he was taking to hospital.

Boser said that American and Canada team doctors helped to check the condition of Yuzu before he was on ice to compete! Thank them!

Please post any health updates on Yuzuru here & discuss his choice to skate (and anything else) here.

I decided to share the whole incident video as some thought Yuzuru or Han Yan was unconscious which looking at this video both seems fazed and disoriented but not unconscious~ The video starts from before the incident onwards until competition.

IMO... looking at this video seems like Han Yan chin was hit by Yuzuru's head and his chest was hit by Yuzuru's shoulder. While Yuzuru's injury mostly cause by falling on the ice.. the right side of his head, his chin and his chest. Yuzuru can also be seen coughing hard while lying on the ice.

I wish both full recovery

Here's tonight's video broadcasted by ESP UK, I can see frida from youtube is still uploading the men's event so I figured this hasn't been posted yet.

some quotes from Orser, from an article about the free skate...
Hanyu received stiches on his head and chin and was checked for a concussion after the competition. His coach, Brian Orser, said he would fly back to Japan on Sunday to receive further treatment.

"I know that tomorrow he's going to feel like he was hit by a car," he said. "Both of these boys are going to feel awful."

Orser said he allowed Hanyu to compete because he wasn't exhibiting any physical signs of a concussion after the crash — his eyes were clear and he was speaking normally, even making jokes.

"He was immediately determined he wanted to compete, and for me, I wanted to make sure he was healthy enough," he said. "I told him, 'This is not the time to be a hero. You have to take care of yourself.'"

The horrible LP is fully shown here.
But at the end you can see Hanyu happily pushing himself around in a wheelchair. He is resting at a hotel and will be examined tomorrow in Japan.

EDIT: I meant watching the LP was horrible because of all the falls.

P.S. Meet Yuzu in Corridor walking with people help, he said he still ok, but need time for rest. Wished him fastest recovery #Fighter

Both Yuzuru and Julia were the biggest stars of this event. Everyone expected them to win but they didn't. Both absent from the medal ceremony.

Yet, despite their disastrous skates they're CHAMPIONS. never pulled back from the routine and came to the K&C.

Do I see redemption at Worlds 2015?

watch Yuzu and Yan, it reminds me of naruto ....
Well, let's try to brighten up the mood for this thread. Naruto has just ended. And even though they have suffered a lot of hardship, it's happy ending for all of them.

Please don't spoil Naruto for me  Just asking in advance. I've been staying away from the spoilers all month..:thumbsup:

Too many important things happened this weekend: Naruto's ending (I finished reading it yesterday), and of course the Cup of China event.

To tell the truth, it's so hard to concentrate on doing daily tasks and homework because so much happened in such a short period of time. I'll probably be heartbroken for at least a week at this point.

I cant even think about next year's Worlds. Seriously not to blame, but this is just the third time that Shanghai holds COC and two out of the three times serious collision between skaters happened during warm-up. 2015's Worlds would be the same place, the same rink and god knows what could happen at that time. I don't care whether Yuzu could defend his world title or not; all I want is when he returns from Shanghai, he will be healthy.

Guys.. Cheer up. What is done is done! Young brash and foolhardy, Hanyu and HanYan. I am reliefed they appear to be doing okay and getting the medical support they need. Live on the edge literally...

So what did anyone think of the program? I am usually quite critical (understatement ha!), but I think I like this POTO and may very well love it by worlds! Maybe something about the drama, it really added to his performance today. Phantom is an extreme character, who gives his all in search of something precious...something lonely, something people don't get, something no one understood to ONLY his own rules. Hanyu did it with this performance today, he delivered the performance as it should.

Costume wise, Hanyu dress like an Anime character... but it totally works for him.

I think we need to wait with full judgement when he will skate this being in form, but I loved that already in practice, choreo is beatifull, and his movement progressed hugely over the summer

It was too painful to rewatch his performance. But I agree with you.

Now I believe in what Orser said in an interview at Skate America. He said Yuzuru had 2 beautiful programs. Sadly we have to witness his 2 beautiful programs in his worst competition ever. I can see that he truly loves Phantom.

I hope he will get healthy and deliver 2 clean performances of these 2 beautiful programs in the near future.
