Yuzuru Hanyu: 2014-15 Season

@firal, KansaiPJ, commiserating with both of you. I can only imagine how it must have been for both of you to see first-hand what we watched with shock through the livestream. Everything must have been magnified to the nth degree.
It seems being a Yuzuru fan requires intestinal fortitude as we have to live through one epic episode/dramatic moment after another. But then I wouldn't have it any other way.

Wishing both of you a fun time watching the gala and a safe trip back to Japan. Hopefully NHK there would be less turbulent and more successful for Yuzuru.

I was planning to watch it last night but work called and unfortunately the hospital's cable provider don't have any of the channels and i only had my ipad. Reading the tweets and seeing the pictures was nerve wracking and I had so many feelings regarding that disastrous GP but I held my thought since there were no enough details.

Read the last 20 pages and I still think they shouldn't have skated. It was both admiring and cursing them at the same time. Were they at fault? Definitely NO. I'm not so familiar with Han's but Yuzu's strength and flaw is his stubborness. With the pressure of his titles, his country's expectations, fan's expectation, his expectation and the adrenaline from the collision I doubt he would stop skating. Is BOrser at fault? Maybe a little but our boy's mindset is difficult to move, it would probably be feasible for Brian to bend metal than to change Yuzuru's mind. Is the ISU and federations at fault? For me, YES. If they used their "authority" and put their foot down and told them NO then there's nothing the skater and his team can do.

The reports aren't quite clear yet but I hope Han & Yuzu did went to the hospital, Yuzu should have been kept at least overnight until his flight to Japan. Basing on the video, his head injury risk seems to fall on the low category but medicine is not an exact science. It looked like he wasn't concussed but I'd rather gear towards the side of caution than make a mistake. There are some injuries that would take hours or days to manifest. I just hope he would listen for once with what the medical team will tell him after today.

On the bright side of things, I liked the costume and the music cuts. I can't say much about the program but there's a glimmer of what could be. His season just begun but I'm more stressed compared to the last 4 years already.

I agree with you. ISU really has to think about how to protect skaters from such issue rather than making some ridiculous 30s rule.

I know exactly how you feel; I had planned to return home not until Wednesday, thinking I can sightsee for a bit since I came all these way, thinking that I'll have fond memories of Shanghai because I'll get to see him live. But all I want to do was go home after last night.
I changed my flight and fly back home today.
I can't think anything now and need more time to recover from the shock.
This is not supposed to be like that....
I couldn't remember what I feel last night when I watched him finish his fs and cried like baby...
My eyes is still painful for crying too much and sleeplessness.....
I just want him to be fine and get recovery soon.

Have a safe flight and positive thoughts for everyone who saw it happen in person.

Any news on Yuzuru and Han condition? The other threads in the topic are very conflicting

Han wrote on his weibo that he has already gone through the X-ray and nothing wrong (not sure, it's been translated from Chinese to English on twi). Fans spied him returning to hotel on wheelchairs. As for Yuzu, he probably will be on plane back to Japan very soon.

I watched the news from TV Asahi about an hour ago. They showed the footage the moment Yuzuru get into the car to go back to the hotel(i suppose) and he said "Thank you" to the camera.
For Yuzuru today he will go back to Japan. was supposed to go back to Canada at first but considering the length of the flight, they decided to make him go to Japan and take the examination here.
That's pretty much what they said. I didn't get any update about Han Yan and I can't read Chinese.. , hopefully they both can go through this hard time.

Until now I never posted on here because so many posts are on here, but I feel like I need to post.

I was asleep when the collision happened (It was around 8:45 in the morning Eastern Standard Time when I woke up) and when I heard what happened. I'm happy he got 2nd. But I'm really nervous for him because with that type of collision, *shudder* it could possibly be a concussion. And doing spins and jumps really doesn't do well.

I'm not blaming anyone for the collision. It was an accident. I'm not mad at Orser, Han Yan's coach, or the ISU. No one should be putting blame on anyone. It was a freak accident.

Here's a picture I posted on my Instagram of what I'm doing to keep Yuzuru in my thoughts and showing support http://instagram.com/p/vJi05KMTuV/

I pray so hard for a speedy recovery. This made me shocked, sad, and worried for him.

I decided to wait for the result before watching his skating, because I couldn't gather courage to watch it live. And now maybe I will never have the courage to watch it after all.

I just want Yuzu to be fine. That's all I can think of now.:cry::cry:

Han has some injury on his chin and muscle main in breast and nothing very serious. I believe he will be fine. And I think he does not mention the concussion which is good.
Yuzu has been back to Japan for now and seems optimistic and smiles. I hope their injuries are not that serious as they look. Youth can really beat everything.

By the way, I hope that Yuzu will not have too much bad memory about Shanghai. I know really a LOT of girls, college students, office workers, even younger middle school students with their mothers went to Shanghai from all over China just to see him and to throw him a pooh. He is really appreciated and loved in China. I even know a girl who traveled by train (seat ticket in a crowded train) for 24 hours to go to COC. And of course many of them cried and did not sleep well last night.

It was traumatic just watching it on video, so I can't imagine the feeling of being there in person, the shock, not knowing what was happening. It had to be a nightmare. But I'm sure that Yuzuru greatly appreciated the love and support of all those fans, and hopefully that will be what he remembers the most.

Hope to see news update on his safe arrival in Japan soon, but also don't want the media or anyone else to bother him right now, such a dilemma!! Most likely won't be able to sleep tonight either...

Yuzuru smiling ← not really sure but he was trying not to make his fans so much worried..maybe??

All that I am now worrying about is, his head and legs even more than his lower back.
Really was a heartbroken and I still haven't been able to see his FS tbh. I could only glimpse of it.
if only that was just a bad dream...

Anyway, It is hard but I am trying to be optimistic myself and hope that from now on everything will be going well for him (our amazing boy).

P.S. I wish they both speedy recovery.

Newspaper this morning arrived...”Hanyu, his seven stitches of chins were sewed up after the performance.

And his three stitches of heads were sewed up.
Before CoC, he was absent from training, one day in three days, because of low back pain.
ttps://twitter.com/casa_blanca20/status/531190579099480065
His training was suppressed for around one hour. Because he protected his back, as for him, the balance of his body collapsed.
https://twitter.com/casa_blanca20/status/531190652248129536
Therefore he felt a pain on other parts of the body too. He participated in CoC by force while hitting the painkiller.

He did not miss CoC for GPF. "

And crying now...

Let´s not hate on Borser, I don´t think he or anyone in there could have stopped Yuzuru, nor even his mother.

In F1 you most pass a medical exam and if the doctor said you are unfit you can´t drive, maybe ISU should take the same aproach, so no one can criticize the skater if he decides to compete o withdraw from the event.

Yuzu is in Tokyo , I'm a bit releaved and thanks for the update!!

so no japanese doctor means no legal adult responsability for a MINOR in Japan?

Didn't they stop Yuzu for just a back pain? Why were they so worried about a back pain and not about a double very violent and risky collusion ( the first one with Han and the second with the ice)?
