Yuzuru Hanyu: 2014-15 Season

oh you? I think that is not so Weir but yes kinda. I love that :)

I don't think it's very Weir either, it doesn't have nearly enough sparkles and rhinestones ;) And Yuzu does love ruffles, though the red on the wrist is a bit much in my opinion. That cat one! It makes me think of the anime Loveless :slink:

I can't even imagine to live somewhere surrounded with so much advertizing of my favorite athlete. That would be awesome. I'd probably go out way more often. All the time.

This fanwork reminds me of a quote printed in Yuzu's T-shirt: "In the end, Life doesn't matter how many breaths you take, but how many moments take your breaths away."

I am watching Yuzuru's SP when he was 13 again. Sing sing sing was lovely and fun! It's so obvious he can do an upbeat and fun program. I hope he will choose something like Sing Sing Sing in the future: http://youtu.be/2ycoGp4q9Ms

Just found a picture of Yuzu's autograph at the restaurant he has visited in Hachinohe where he had his favorite TKG. This looks exactly like what he has ordered. Having said that, this restaurant has gone out of business.

Also, here's the Yuzu's Sendai Tourism PR Poster from NHK Touhoku. He wrote "Welcome to my hometown. Sendai!!" in English and signed it too! Good job! He looks really cute! Apparently they have printed 1000 copies and it will be distributed throughout Sendai and also in souvenir shops in Tokyo and America, etc?! I wonder if they'll also have one in Toronto as well.

I came across another interesting article, pretty touching actually: [link]

Lotte Ghana choco street repo continuing: "Ghana choco sold out! It was a true urban legend."

By the way, Asahi TV has purchased the broadcast right of Finlandia Trophy. So we may watch Yuzu's first tourament in HQ video.

Yuzu has just got himself a new job! This time he has been elected by the Japanese Cabinet Office to become the Tsunami Disaster Prevention Ambassador! Congrats!

Yuzuru's postage stamps set has its own twitter account now!

I'm not sure if someone has already posted this, but, a fan uploaded a video on the exhibition of Yuzuru held at Odaiba, Tokyo.

I've just found this pic posted in the end of March. Don't know if this has been shared yet. This pic is really kawaii! I wanna shake hands with Pooh-san too!

I found this video recently, and almost cried. This was posted in 2012, so some of you might have seen it before.

This "Haru Yo Koi" is one of my favorite songs, and it is so touching.
The lyrics are written in a bit classic Japanese, and it matches to the story of Yuzu and Nanami sensei very much.

I also found an English version. Although English lyrics are very good, not exactly the same as Japanese ones.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lykhh52NEXk

So, brave me. I tried myself.

Haru Yo Koi

Caught in shower lit with soft light
Winter Daphne, bringing back memories of you
Buds with flowing tears
Start delivering a scent one by one
It will come across the sky
It will come over to you someday
Spring, I’m still waiting it to come all the way. When I close my eyes,
I’ll feel you near, who gave me love, your voice with old memories

My heart has been left at you
Still longing for reply
Even so many years later,
Waiting for ever, and ever
Beyond tomorrow
It will reach there someday for sure
Spring, I’m longing for it yet to see. When I stop walking, being lost,
Gentle gaze of you who gave me dreams will embrace my shoulders

Dreams, shallow dreams, here still I am
Thinking about you, I’m just walking alone
Like flowing rain, like flowing flowers

Spring, I’m still waiting it to come all the way. When I close my eyes,
I’ll feel you near who gave me love, your voice with old memories

Spring, I’m longing for it yet to see. When I stop walking, being lost,
Gentle gaze of you who gave me dreams will embrace my shoulders

I'm very sorry I'm not a poet at all

Here's a video clip about the choreographer Miyamoto Kenji talking about Yuzu. He has been asked to name figure skaters (around 4:30) who is terrific in jumps and he picked Yuzu and Mao. He then talks about the jump position and how figure skaters with a slim figure can spin faster than others. He thinks Yuzu has a wonderful sense in figure skating. When Yuzu jumps, he spins fast, he can sense his position in the air and he can prepare himself for landing. He says Yuzu is very focus on his training and will keep on practicing until someone tells him to stop. He also talks about Yuzu is a cheerful person who plays kendama all the time.

Remember this voting event? Congratulate Yuzu! He got top 2 in audience voting:
“2008 Amazonic” ranks first, and “2011 Romeo & Juliet” is the second.

And BS Japan TV broadcasted the program today. As usual, we should thank yusu01207 uploaded in nearly on time. Enjoy!

Yeah, I can just imagine going to the train/subway station and seeing a huge red advertisement of Lotte Chocolate with Hanyu on it. :agree: Wouldn't that be so much better than the typical ads?

This is a bit off-topic, but ever since I heard that Yuzu's FS music will be from POTO, I watched the movie (2004 ver) and now I'm obsessed with the soundtrack! I love to watch adaptions of musicals and the only one I didn't watch yet was 'The Phantom of the Opera'. It'll be great to watch it live someday, no wonder he wanted to skate to the music.

Also on the topic of costumes, the entire wardrobe in the movie was beautiful! Hopefully Yuzuru's costume designer modelled his new costume after the movie's designs. I especially liked this costume that the Phantom wore.

Random question: Are figure skaters allowed to wear half-masks on ice?

I think it would be difficult (and distracting) to have anything attached to your face. Maybe the white makeup used by geisha and dancers could work.

imagine him wearing a half-mask on ice that would look like this?

Ryo Shibata !

A name I haven't heard a while  !
I think he is a pro skater now.

He was (is?) famous for his Biellmann spin before Yuzuru.

I like his costume of this program.

The last thing I heard they are not allowed to wear neither masks nor "theatrical" make-up for competitions, so... But honestly- look at him during competitions (and even during some demanding exhibition programs), he sweats a lot, he doesn't need anything on his face.

^Not to be rude, but that was already posted in the 2014-2015 thread in the edge. I don´t see why it needs to be posted in the Yuzuru´s thread, specially since there are thread for Gachinski and Team Japan in the fan fest.

Here is Gachinski from Russian Test Skates 2014.

Seems to be still struggling with jumps? I hope he will be back in good condition soon. I love his style of skating.

Paganini, by the way :)

And, our new girl is here, Wakaba Higuchi, 13 years old. She reminds me of Akiko with her pacey skating. I hear the choreographer of this FS is Nanami sensei

I think SuzyQ mentioned it because of their connections with Hanyu (Gachinski's Paganini, Higuchi's FS choreo by Nanami Abe).

Selfishly, I'm really glad you mentioned Gachinski seeing as I'm also a fan of his and I've yet to watch the Russian Test Skates. :o: I think that if Gachinski gets his head back together and has an amazing GP season, he could potentially make the GPF this year and set himself up to becoming a strong rival for Hanyu in the future, just like in their younger years. His cut of Paganini is more dramatic than Hanyu's, who like the British Eurosport guys said, had a beautiful "lightness of touch that was a perfect match to the music".

Thank you shingalas :)

I mentioned Gachinski because we talked about who would be Yuzuru's rivals in the previous pages, and I mentioned that I was expecting the rivalry with Gachinski. And I was informed that he had moved to Tarasova by someone (sorry, I forgot who it was). And, Paganini

If Gacchan could be back in good form this season, we could see their beautiful rivalry
As far as I see his skating, he is not so bad at the moment, off season I mean. Stability of jumps may be the key for him.

Edit: In the Russian Test Skates 2014 (or Russian Open Skates 2014), you can see other Russian skaters in their pre-season. It is very interesting.

Sorry, I don't know about any other thread because this is the only thread I'm posting, but I'm trying to choose topics related to Yuzuru as much as possible.

Gives me a warm and fuzzy feeling that so many people are cheering for Gachinski; even though I do wish for Hanyu-kun to win every single competition (well, maybe except for this year's GPF...:o:secretly hoping Javier can come out on top), I think it's better when there are more rivals. He seems to have that extra motivation when he is in straight competition with someone else. Which is why I am hoping Machida can ride high from his performance at the Worlds and make the Nationals more exciting(OT: Is Machida the most elusive skater out there? Haven't heard a beep from him regarding his new programs. Makes me very anxious.)

I have to stifle a laugh looking those masks! Please tell me I am not the only one who thinks this will be a bad idea :think:He is welcomed to put on a mask when the audience throws him one at kiss & cry, but I am hoping for no masks.

Sorry again, but in the past week I have seem threads related to Yuzuru being overtake for off topic and offensive posters, and because of that I don´t like to see off topic or not clear connection to Yuzuru at least in this thread.

If you guys REALLY wanted Yuzu's stamp collection and have enough money to spare CDJapan could purchase it for you. It's quite expensive though because there will be a service charge and shipping is by EMS only.

Here's the link for their special request page. cdjapan
