Yuzuru Hanyu: 2014-15 Season

There has been nothing confirmed about his condition. I'm praying he's okay, he's totally healthy. Other than that, I don't know what to do now, I'm helpless and I'm just trying to keep myself away my "panic mood".

Edit: From the official announcement, I'm pretty sure he's injured. I hope it will be okay, not only this season.

Officially announcement:

We regret to inform you, that Yuzuru Hanyu from Japan has withdrawn from the competition due to the advice from his physician. We have a message from Mr. Hanyu:

"I was competing this event every year, and I always take this
opportunity very important as the first official event of the season.
However, consider the long season, I regretfully decided not to take
risks and decline my participation. I would like to express my heartfelt
sorrow that I cannot skate at my favourite country, and miss many of the figure skating fans. I will give my word that I will do my best and skate once again in Finland at near future!"

Here's the link from Finlandia Trophy's facebook.

I was really shocked to hear this. I hope everything will be okay for the new season and that it's nothing serious.

I'm so worried! But it's better that he withdraw if he needs to than take a risk of getting injured or sick so early in the season.
Rest well Hanyu! I hope it is nothing serious.

Somehow I think that he is simply worn out from this summer schedule. So many performances and so much of other stuff like public events. I don't think there is injury unless it is confirmed officially. I refuse to worry and just wish him to rest and have more time to get ready for the big events. Let us send him best wishes instead. :)

I want to try the translation of the interview of Yuzuru in World Figure Skating 65. It's very interesting, but it's looooong

I will try it inch by inch, hoping someone quicker than me will upload it somewhere soon.
Maybe you could do a small part you find the most interesting then? BTW I like when you post the Japanese words and phrases and their translation- I note them for myself, maybe I'll get into Japanese studies soon.

You are welcome, guys :)

I like this short segment of the program "Sporto" hosted by Tsutomu Sekine.
In any case, this is "short" enough to make me try translation

Edit: What!? Withdrawal!? Nothing serious, please

Thank you in advance!!! Look forward to reading it!!

I was a bit disappointed that he withdrew from the Finlandia event, but his health does come first. Also, no one is perfect so it's natural to be tired, worn out and withdraw from a event due to his present condition this month.

It's comparable to feeling sick before a big test/exam in school, missing a important day of work and calling in a sick-day; everyone has those moments. I remember always feeling guilty when I missed school because I just wasn't feeling well enough to go.

Hopefully he gets better, recovers and doesn't blame himself!
(we can wait a few months for his awesome programs to be performed, can't we?) ;)

Well said Esopian!

He is injured, there is no doubt about that.

A part of me agrees with you, but another part of me wants to believe that he's having health issues. The weather in the past few days have been weird. 2 days of cold weather between 10 to 20 degrees, then went up to 28 for a day or so, then dropped again to 10 degrees. It's 3am now and it's 8 degrees. It'll reach 22 degrees around noon time.

^ Wow, really? I guess global warming is taking effect pretty fast, though I wouldn't know because I live in a region where it's tropical weather all the time. [I used to live near Toronto, so I understand where you're coming from ...]

if he had a flu then it's not much different, his asthma condition prevented him from practice now and then. But I agree with you, a flu might be better than an injury.
BUT if it's a flu then it might have ended before finlandia since there are still weeks before that. I think he is injured.

This has just totally ruined my day and my holiday at one blow.
I think I'm gonna cry.
(And right now I'm crying for myself, I don't care if I'm being selfish...)

Aww, don't cry. Think of it as extra rest time for Hanyu, on a brighter side of the situation.

One more thing: it could be asthma not an injury, what you think?
Oh no

(Maybe his new SP and LP are much more physically demanding than he thought it would be? Apparently Yuzu needs to build more strength and during post-Olympic time he didn't have good rest at all.)

I don't know how to explain my feeling right now...i am kind of ....disappointed? worried ? sad?
Actually I have booked the trip to Finland and it can't be cancelled....
I don't feel sad about the money spent
I just feel enormously disappointed that I can't see his new program at Finlandia Trophy which I have expected for a long time...
On the other hand, I am really worried about his condition, injury? sick? asthma?
I hope i can see he coming to COC with good condition...(ya...I booked the trip also...)

I might have to clarify: I'm crying because I'm actually going to Finlandia. (Did I mention the part about me being selfish?)
No, you are not the only one....let's hug for a while....
Now I start to make a good trip plan in Finland...maybe have Aurora trip.....
