Yuzuru Hanyu: 2014-15 Season

Love reading orser's interview, now im really looking forward to what his long program will look like! But I too was being skeptical on what orser said about it as the "most beautiful thing he had ever seen", he does sound like he's hyping us about it and i just dont want to be disappointed  if its not what i expected it too be..
soo im really really hoping that Yuzuru and co. will prove me wrong and that its truly a beautiful phantom program .

I feel Brian may also be subconsciously justifying his choice of Shae-Lynn as Yuzuru's choreographer. Still, since Brian is someone who has been around skating for a long time (and who has also been Yuna's coach so he knows "beautiful" when he sees it ;)), I'll take his words in good faith.

PS. Thanks to everyone who posted links.

^ Could it just be his hair? Perhaps Yuzu might be a bit taller than Javier, but generally I think they're about the same height despite the photo. 1-2 cm difference?

(Plus they never update their profiles, so their height is pretty vague as time passes)

But what's with "Get Recover?" That makes no sense. Maybe what they meant was "Recover soon."

Misha Ge tweeted #getrecoveryuzu when he pulled out of FT due to the injury. Some fans followed to use it. Yeah it was meant to be get recover soon

At last, I found it. The cartoon describes this TV show after Sochi.

Try to guess which part (Nobunari talks to Yuzuru, Tatsuki, and Daisuke)

Nobunari is really a nice guy ;)

Edit: Daisuke's words not translated in the video.

Daisuke: (To crying Nobunari) Oh, I can't cry myself

Plushenko Interview:

Eugene, you said that you like Jason Brown. But the skater does not perform a quadruple jump, he attracts you? And how do you feel about Alexander Petrov, what are its perspectives, in your opinion?

Alyona

Jason Brown is a good athlete. He has a charisma, a great skating, stretching. He makes interesting tricks, items, so it is interesting. As for Smith, this young athlete, just a beginner and need to prove to him now that he is able to show its full potential. And, of course, if you want to be a leader, you have to do several Quaternary. A few months ago I was in Japan and went there with Yuzuru Hanyū, Saitama, the current Olympic champion. So here he is in training makes four quadruple and makes them simple.

Are you saying we have the athletes or not? We have these and they are good, but may be as long as they do not rise to the level of Yuzuru Hanyū, Saitama, Javier Fernandez. And the athletes they are and will be.

Funny is how Online translation tool renames Petrov in a reply naming him Smith. :sarcasm:
Below is my variant:
"Jason Brown is a meritable athlete. He has got a charisma, beautiful skating, he's very flexible. He makes interesting tricks, elements, that's why he is interesting (to me). As per Petrov- he is a young athlete, he is only getting started and now he has to prove what he is capable of, show his potential. And of course if you want to become a leader then you have to perform a few quads. A few months ago I've been to Japan and skated alongside with Yuzuru Hanyu, current Olympic champion. Now- he performs 4 different quads during practice and does them plain out easy.
So you are asking me- do we have athletes or do we not? We have them and they have a certain level which however is not the level of Yuzuru Hanyu and Javier Fernandez. We do and we will have athletes though (in figure skating)."

Now if you want to understand the below the lines- Plushenko still wants to compete and most probably gives a shot for the next Olympics (although he said he is going to sit out a couple of seasons). He does not name any Russian athlete as his successor. He still believes he is unbeatable in Russia. And no one can claim his power. But he pays a HUGE respect to those athletes who perform quads and when he says that Hanyu does 4 different quads in practice as a piece of cake- you have to understand that he had probably seen very few of them and Hanyu tried his best. It does not mean those quads would pop out this season or even the next one. It is one thing when you do not have to skate the entire 4.40 LP and do a few other exhausting things during it. And just jump out of the desire to win the jump during a training session and to show off is a completely different kind of performance.
Just to add a detail: Plushenko said a few good words about Serghey Voronov and Konstantin Menshov (he named him Alexander though)- because they have made good jobs winning titles on international events being quite old in figure skating.

-On the topic of Hanyu's Quad loop, in the most recent video of his FS practice at the Cricket Club, when asked about the possiblility of putting the quad loop in, he said a VERY firm no.
Actually along the lines of 'absolutely not'.
He said he's already trying two new things this year (3 quads for the FS and a quad in the second half for the SP) so he couldn't possibly put an new quad in.

also the 3A-half loop-3S combination is new for Yuzu and quite difficult, expecially if it's in the second half of the FS. if he'll really jump it, it will be quite amazing..

Thank you Sorrento :agree:

It's very interesting to read it in different languages, although Russian is all Greek to me
(This feeling may be that those who don't read Japanese feel when they see Japanese writing.)

and although i somehow accept anything he chooses to wear, im still praying and hoping for a mask-less costume from yuzuru please.. and a red phantom would be truly lovely, well atleast for me

Im hoping that he will be able to rest well, have a good season ahead and provide us with wonderful performances! prove to those "doubters" that he deserves the ogm and world title- not just by winning medals, but by giving good quality performances worthy of it.

Don’t worry :) Now I am so exited, not only the words from Orser but also from what fragments(pieces?) of the program, which Yuzuru already showed us at the Clicket club.
at first, I was in boredom team because of the music (musical +lyrics) as a main reason.
(I don’t dislike musical. I just expected something up-beat number for his new LP. Though still worry about the lyrics, too distracting?)
But when I saw the broadcasts, I realized again that he is an amazing skater who had actually gotten me to FS world. so the Orser’s words even supported/emphasized that.
(normally he looks like a typical pretty guy off ice but once he comes to on the ice, like an attractive performer whom I can not take my eyes off, appear there in my opinion )
I conclude a little forcibly, he as good as proved to us that the phantom will be amazing. he will surely blow those “doubters” by a beautiful program that I believe… so :yay:

oh gawd... why, why?

Welcome back Pamina! Hope you had a great time at Finlandia. :)
Thank you, I diiiiiiid  I had a great time and am now completely extra crazy over absolutely everything

at first, I was in boredom team because of the music (musical +lyrics) as a main reason.

I had already left Team Boredom for Team Sparkles, but I think I'm ready to switch to Team Excited  I'd been so excited to see Misha's new programs at Finlandia and then I was so "ugh, why, boring, you're killing me" when I saw that he'd chosen Ave Maria for his SP. It wasn't even because I have anything against the music, because I really don't, but the choice was (to me) just so surprisingly bland and I didn't expect much after that. But in the end I absolutely loved it. And since people keep saying that Yuzuru's new FS is supposedly such a masterpiece, I choose to believe that it might just blow me away as well, despite the choice of music (it's quite sickening how disgustingly positive I'm trying to be lately  )

Joke, surely? I mean... what?! Is that Yuruzu Hanyu? For real? Yikes. I didn't even recognize him, lol.
no, that's the worst part, it's real, it's some advertising stuff thingy and it's just hideous! gah, I want to burn it because otherwise it will come back from the dead and haunt humanity forever or something

The CM is cute! (of course it is! It has Hanyu in it.) It's strange to see him in so many CMs now.
The costume is still odd. But Hanyu, as always, is radiant.

as always, thank you echotpe for the update... but plllllease, someone tell me that I'm not the only one who just almost DIED watching this  oh.my.god! Teen Angel from Grease has come to life and he's brought some gum. I'm dying here! jeez, I'm gonna be singing Beauty School Drop Out in my head for at least a week
