Thanks for posting this!! So we have three skaters that have attempted a quad axel....that we have video of....
1. Max Aaron...he was in a safety harness at practice...he posted his attempt on instgram and was the most fully rotated of the three (about 1/4 rotation off) ...
To be precise:
It was Coach Tom Z who posted the video of Max Aaron. Max himself never posts videos like that.
Thus comparable to Orser saying/showing something about Hanyu -- as opposed to Hanyu himself feeling the need or desire to go public with something.

:agree:Guys, I have a question, it might be a stupid one but I need input. Has Yuzuru ever used the harness to learn his jumps? If yes, when was the last time he used it. I want to know if there is a correlation between him using/not using the harness and his jump quality.
Thanks. I haven't seen any, too. But I don't know if it I have missed something. Do you think not using the harness partially contributes to his fearlessness and lack of hesitation going into his jumps?I've never seen any footage of Yuzu in harness.
My guess would be the other way round? Its because yuzu is fearless so he doesn't use the harness? I don't know....Thanks. I haven't seen any, too. But I don't know if it I have missed something. You have a point, so without harness could also be a factor for his fearlessness into jumps! That's true now.that you've said it! Interesting!I've never seen footage of him using a harness either, and I doubt he ever used it. There was footage of the time he started learning the 4T and he took some pretty hard falls back then, I guess if there was a time he could have use the harness was back then, so maybe he never used it.
If he never trained with a harness, it could be a factor to his, as Tracy said, blind belief, when he goes into the he jumps. If you never had the safeness of the harness, then the fall is not going to be so scary because you've been used to it since the beginning. Though of course, there are many factors here to consider, his dedication and sometimes stubborn personality, but very focused attitude could also come into play. He's always strived to become better, and order to do so, he just needs to go for it (without being reckless of course cough4Acough). I suppose he also trusts his technique and his ability to land the jumps, which could also be because of the lack of harness.
But that confidence is certainly a characteristic trait of him. In the latest edition of IFS magazine, Jason was asked which skaters he admired the most, and among those, he mentioned Yuzuru. He said that no one goes into the jumps with more confidence than Yuzuru does, he doesn't slow down nor backs off, that he's like an ninja and what he does is insane [emoji3]
