Yeah, I always cannot at all appreciate his performance for my tension during watching him live. Especially, until he ends his last jump! When he lands his last jump, I can breathe a little (lol).
I think I was calm only once during this season- and I don't know why- at GPF. I couldn't believe myself but I was relaxed and happy. I think it's because of Barcelona's vibes. That place breathes good vibes even through the stream.

I know what you are saying. That venue has some atmosphere which holds yuzu warmly (Of course, it may be because they remembered his great performances at GPF 2014.) and we can feel that good vibes. The atmosphere’s special to Barcelona. I love there.

The Boston crowd is showing him a lot of love (can't wait to join them Friday). I'm glad he feels it, lol. My cousin and friend who are there said he was unreal.

I'm glad to hear that. It's the first time for him to skate at US in main competitions after he took the title of Olympics. US has had many great skaters histrically and the audience there have good eyes for figure skating.

If he can get through free skate, I think he would be able to get through any competition now. The pressure he has going to world this year is believable.

CBC commentary on the men's short. Yuzu starts around 1:23:20 (requires VPN)

Carol: "Its like he is on a mission to be not just the best in the world, but the best there has ever been."
Kurt: "Too late. He already is."

Wow, what a wonderful short program! I love Hanyu's skating and I was truly touched while watching his final short program performance of the season at Worlds 2016. He's the definition of elegance, beauty and finesse. :agree: Cheers, everyone! It feels great to see him skate so amazingly!

And here's an artwork I just uploaded to commemorate this wonderful program.

Yesyes!
You are so fast! Thank you for sharing. The tone of picture is so nice and well express the atmosphere of Ballade.
I really hope you keep your work in FS also. Finger crossed for his splended FS!

Thanks! :luv17: The secret is I actually made a lot of art beforehand for Worlds this year and found the right time to upload them.
With Yuzu's massive SP score, he can basically enjoy himself in the FS and do extremely well again! Go Yuzu!

I am late to the party but after 2 or 3 sleepless nights my brain begin functioning properly only now ......
Congratulations my boy, you did it again  :luv17:
I think it was the best Chopin in terms of interpretation we have ever seen ... amazing farewell to this majestic program, my all time favorite program of his !!
Now slay the free!

I haven't seen his SP yet, it was in the middle of the night UK time, and I still can't watch it til tonight. But I saw the scores and the protocols... and Wow! He did it again!

Consistently delivering skates of that level and quality proves what we already knew - he IS the greatest skater of all time! Simon Reed's prediction all that time ago, nailed it. Can't wait to see his SP for myself later, and also looking forward to the Free Skate...

..........

His strategy of keeping his short program for two seasons... has worked extremely well so far. Each time, he has polished and refined it, until it earned him new World Records and an Olympic gold medal.

With that in mind... assuming he has a new short program next season... I think it might also be his 2018 Olympic short program...!

I haven't caught up with the thread yet, but saw this appear on the Dutch public news website. It's pretty much unheard of for Dutch news to report on the short programs of figure skating, usually only after the medals have been handed out they will do a short report. They simply don't care (over here people only care about speed skating). So this caught me totally by surprise. http://nos.nl/artikel/2096269-yuruzu-hanyu-maakt-favorietenrol-waar.html
Nothing very important, content-wise, just that he's the top favorite for the title and leaving no doubt about it in the SP. :-)

edit to add: Eurosport is supposed to start coverage of the Men's SP in a bit, I'm sure someone will link to the British commentary, but if there is Dutch commentary, I'll try and transcribe it again.

His FS draw doesn't give much chance for a WR in LP I guess. He's early in the last group and he must go perfect with every single jump to earn more.
I agree his 4T3T was less perfect tonight, honestly when I watched it I thought he would not manage to do that 3T but he has the immense power, the ultimate competitive hunger- he just pushes his limits like nobody else. He was MAD after that SP practice I'm sure. From the tiny clips from IG and PJ Wong interview I got he regretted that incident but he was MAD, the demands perfection. I am not surprised people saying he is so intense during practices it is almost scary to be around or get in his way. He must control his anger and reproduce it in power staying calm. I want him strong and long term targeted, not reckless. I get he wants the title back. I just want a balanced FS, not furious one, you know.

I don't know... He's Yuzuru Hanyu, I don't think the skating order will matter much in his case. He's got the clout these days. After all the records he's set this season and how he skated in the SP, if he actually delivers a better performance than at GPF, the judges won't withhold the points because let's be real, there is no one after him who could come close to topping a perfect Yuzuru, not even Javi or Patrick.

I wouldn't mind a furious one, it'd suit the warrior theme of the program!

That 4/3 may have been slightly off from gpf, but I preferred this performance. He put everything into it... great expression, detail, smiling throughout the step sequence... he was really feeling it. And I love it when he roars... you know he has put it all down when he roars.

Bye, chopin, it has been great. Hello, seimei, you are up...

I hope he will go calm to free on his way. He seems to be much more confident with Seimei so I am hoping he is not going ot put himself under pressure and enjoys this moment
