Come! The more we are, the more fun we have! (Ok I tried to translate a french expression to english and it's weird )

For twitwi asking the previsional schedule is
Thursday SP junior and senior(but which? we don't know)
Friday FP junior and SP senior
Saturday FP senior

It will be all four short programmes for both juniors and seniors in all four disciplines. There are only 6 entries in each one so they all happen on the same day. The same with the free programmes.

IMHO there should be a rule that says skaters aren't allowed to practice in their non-competition clothes. Really missing the bling bling on that outfit. :laugh2:

but then there will be no yuzuru in UA and it is the best thing that happened since sliced bread :sad21:

Anyway back to topic. Do they usually change the order of Men SP, Ladies SP, Men FP and Ladies FP depending on the organizer or is it the same year by year. I can't recall. But buying saturday ticket will guarantee you in getting ladies and men at least

Don't forget pairs & dance. Some competitions have men's FS on Friday & ladies' FS on Saturday or vice-versa. But, the provisional schedule of FSs on Saturday is probably correct for a GPF.

I love seeing skaters in practice clothes. There's like a ritual order to how Yuzuru peels off his various practice layers, which is why his tee-shirt practice in Boston was so surprising.

Korean National Champion had gas leak incident.
Japanese media question about 2018 olympic safety. (And I always worry for Yuzu at Korea, remembered the last top event in Korea, what happen to japanese athlete :palmf:)
Since 2018 Olympic has many trouble, Korean lack of capital for the even, the rink for FS event havent finished built yet, and by rule it must be finished feb next year. In the other hand, Japanese want korea to withraw or co-organize that event.

Ok correct me If I am wrong but I thought Mao won GPF in Korea (with yuna kim also competing) and she won most of 4CC in korea. Is there something that I miss? :scratch2:
Korea also never had WC before so I don't know if there is any top events that I missed.
About the olympic problem, I thought sochi also had issues before but they eventually still held it there so :scratch2:

This is just not true, remember GPF takes three days of competition, not two.
According to the schedule at https://ffsg.org/evenement/final-du-grand-prix-isu-2016-marseille/

Juniors SP on Thursday, FS on Friday. But, there'll also be at least one SP event of the seniors on Thursday, too.
At this point, it's anyone's guess which it will be, though if I were a betting person, I'd bet on Ice Dance. Having the two-time world champions from France at the GPF will be a good way to get people to buy tickets for Thursday, which would otherwise maybe not sell as well.

So, if you want to see Hanyu in competition, Friday in the SP would be more likely, I think.

I don't think competing in Korea is an issue for Japanese skaters, and we should not mix politics with sports, Mao won both 4cc held in Korea 2008 Goyang, when Yuna was competing and 2010 Jeonju, with Akiko winning silver medal. GPF 2008 too. Daisuke won gold in Goyang as well.
Kim won without any pr in Japan and even set WR, so....

Sochi problem was exaggerated by western media. And all the problem is not dangerous to athlete.

Should not forget 2002 World Cup (judge bribe at quarterfinal) and 2014 Asia Game (multi-problem)

:console:
I found a picture where I think you can see pretty well what the seating is going to look like. I think the first 5 rows here would be the gold seats. Category 1 seats will probably be the 8 rows behind them, and category 2 will be way up there in the balcony-like thingy.
I guess it depends on how picky you are about the seats and what you are willing to spend and do. Category 1 seats could theoretically be ok if you are willing to stand in line (for a couple of hours or so I guess.....). And I don't think practices are included, although I can't really know, because we haven't actually been given any information about whether practices are even open to the public or not.
The money they want for gold seats is just ridiculous, but I don't think that category 1 and 2 will be sold out anytime soon. So at least you still have time to think about it.

sorry about going :otopic::giveup:

I really hate non assigned seats plus the golden ones are quite expensive, I think I could only buy for one day so I don't know if it's worthy. I guess I'll end up watching everything from my laptop like always

They want to milk fan wallet, obviously

Those problem in WC happened for football, not figure skating. And it was more of a problem with italy, japan is not put on a disadvantage back then, they were also the host just like Korea.

Back to topic, this might be an issue if Korea had strong figure skaters competing but currently they did not. The only one I could think of is Cha Jun hwan who also train with Orser but oly season would be his senior debut so if you worry that he would pull what sotnikova did in 2014, I highly doubt the result will be the same. Ladies FS has very close BV with each other that could be covered with PCS and GOE and levels (that's why what happened to Yuna Kim, happened). Look at the range of BV for men FS. Yuzuru has the 3rd highest at the moment and he almost max out point given for GOE and PCS. Rather than politics, what he need to do to win again is deliver a clean performance with the highest technical difficulty (BV and GOE), since if he did I bet he will get the max PCS on his pocket. Just like at worlds this year, if he didn't win, unlikely it will be because of judges setups, but more likely because he doesn't deliver a clean performance. Also, past GPF and 4CC held in korea and Japan proven that where the skaters came from won't be a problem about who would win.

Regarding safety issue, it is very normal for the japanese to be concern about it, therefore the korean olympic committee can do something about it. However, it is only 2 years until olympics, I doubt they will hold it elsewhere.

Their old plan was change the location to seoul, but it will change all meaniing of winter olympic (develope rural area), then they want to co-host in 2 city, still wait for agreement of IOC.

About Korean Olympic committee, the president of the Korean Olympic Committee (and the CEO of Hanjin, 5th biggest chaebol in korean and the main sponsor for Olympic) resignated just few days ago left behind the mess in both Olympic organization and the corporation.

It seems like ISU is intervening now so that the French fed and organizer of the event for GPF will do something about the seating allocation for non golden seats.

Welp, that seems to be quite a problem. But if it is still in SK, at least it would not be such a big mess? Seoul would actually be perfect since there would be no extra travel to gangneung, at this point co-hosting seems to be the only option since they still need venue for skiing, etc.
Actually forget olympics, if the gangneung ice arena is not finished in time for 4CC, where are they going to move it? :scratch2:
I am actually looking forward to yuzuru attending 4CC if it was an olympic test event cause if it was not I doubt he even would like to go, like the previous years :slink:

Really? Wow. Wonder how that will turn out.

Sorry for the off-topic, but... Something "funny", I've been keeping a diary for the past 15 or so years, and in January 2013 I was in Paris for two concerts. I just read my comments on the concerts, which included half a page-long complaint about the seating arrangements (the organization had actually been smart enough to sell VIP tickets, but not assign the seats, and let people who picked up their tickets at the ticket counter enter the hall first. You can guess what happened next... I was lucky, I hadn't actually bought those expensive tickets, and had been allowed into the hall early, so took a seat in the first non-VIP row, lol.)

And then I remembered a convention I went to in the early 2000s in Paris, and oh lo they also had big problems with their VIP tickets (actually pretty much the same as this, no assigned seats, so people sat in VIP seats they hadn't paid for, the organization was unable to make them move).

I'm starting to see a pattern develop here! What is it with French event organizers and being unable to properly grasp the concept of assigned seating? It's not that difficult. :dev2:

Where did you read it ? :scratch2:
Someone in FB sent a message to ISU and this is the answer she got

Dear friends, I received this answer from ISU, it is good to know they care about our concerns; Dear Meltem Şişli,

We hope this message finds you well. We are contacting the French Federation to understand the issue. We will inform everyone once we have an answer. Just keep in mind that the French Federation hosts events every year and not so long ago they hosted the ISU World Championships.

Stay tuned and we will keep our fans informed of any update.

Best regards,
ISU Media Team

She also asked them to not to start the sales of GOlden seats, but off couse the request was too late and the organizer went ahead to start selling them.
But they raised the serious safety concern and maybe the Japanese fans will request this to JSF and JSF will urge ISU too.
It would be hard to ignore the concern.
This message has been tweeted across now in Japanese. I think they will do something about it. We don't know yet, but we'll see.

I think ISU is bombarded with the angry outcry:hap10::laugh:

We should all send more requests to ISU or JSF.

I'm thinking that maybe it doesn't matter which city they move the Olympics to, KSU would choose to host the 2017 4CC at the same venue as the Olympics because that's the last major championship Korea hosts before the Olympics, unless ISU moves 2017 4CC to another country.

The arena for olympic and 4cc is the same. The problem is that arena is planed to finish years ago, but it havent done yet. In the newest plan, that arena will be finished this november (only 2 month before 4cc) if everything goes smoothly. Normally after you finished large structure, you cant use it immediately but must wait for checking the safety first (IOC rule is 1 year before the event)

Next year's 4CC is 1 year before the Olympics. If the IOC requires 1 year before a new venue can be used, then the new venue would need to be finished and tested by February next year. (Does the ISU have the same 1 year requirement for a new venue?) If Korean Olympic committe can't follow their plan, does it mean they would need to use an old venue?
