Guys, May is ending soon. Hope we can have news from ANA soon.

I’ve checked the news per hour this week for ANA’s announcement around the middle of May. It is already Friday afternoon here, and if we don’t have news till evening, we may not get any till next monday. I try to think to myself, “No news is good news.”, but really wish to get any news about his condition.

Since no news for now, probably we would hear something next week? Most of team Japan has announced their music/choreographer at least (Rika, Mao, Satoko, Shoma, Mura Marin, Wakaba etc). Yuzuru is the only one yet to announce his i think (which is totally understandable due to his circumstances).

I don't think we'll hear anything about programs until the choreography is done. He may have his music, but that choreo is on hold until he can actually skate. And Shae-Lynn appears to be busy with other skaters right now while Jeff is in BC for Stars on Ice Canada.

Where is DW? I have very weird feeling about coming back to him

That is true. However, by the time there is an update about his condition, should there be at least news on who he will be working with? I meant regardless whether the choreography is completed or the music is chosen? I don't know though, not sure how this usually works for him but for other skaters it was like that? Like we know mao is working with Lori or shoma with higuchi despite not knowing the style of the program or the music? :scratch2:

Last I heard of David he was doing choreo in Toronto with Marie-France Dubreuil for Julianne and Charlie's FS. He's probably got more clients now. I highly suspect that when June comes he'll be doing choreo for Tessa and Scott as their training start date was in the beginning of June.

As for Yuzuru returning to David - I don't know. David is less willing to let Yuzuru choose music. He caved after that letter in 2013 for the Olympic season, but if David had his way Yuzuru would have been skating to something else. David would force him to skate something completely different to expand his range. Shae-Lynn is more lenient in this sense. She's let Yuzuru choose his music for the past two seasons, despite never having worked with him before. I can see Yuzuru wanting to continue doing that. Yuzuru is quite a stubborn kid. :)

Sorry mcq you posted while I was replying. No, I don't think they'll announce his choreographers. Unless Ms. Shirota really wants to be open about Yuzuru's choreography process, it won't happen. That way the excitement will build, there won't be endless fan speculation, and Yuzuru has room to breathe without a load of expectations. Though I'm sure he'll probably stick to Jeff for the SP because Jeff's programs have helped him break the SP world record numerous times over.

Ah I see. Thank you!
I kind of wish he would stick with Jeff too. Despite PW not being my favorite i love how his choreography can bring different side of yuzuru. And regarding DW, I agree with you. I think he probably is the type who likes it when the skater do exactly what he told/advised in a choreography. I watched DW's TSL intvw and he seems to regard yuna kim highly because of that. He also shared a story about how yuzuru requested Jeff to change chopin layout (again) to accommodate 2 quads and how Jeff (and possibily his coaches too lol) was reluctant but yuzuru was so persistent. "There is no talking him out of it!" DW mentioned.
Yuzuru seems like the type who likes to get involved in his program choreography. And didn't he say something in one of his interviews about how both of this season programs was his favorite?

maybe so...
two years ago, shae did his work for the first time, the information was leaked out in shae's interview at the korean show at the begging of May. she said she would do coreo for yuxu.after that, his show of piw was held in japan. the show had the time for interaction between skaters and fans. there a fan asked about shae, but yuzu firmly denyed it. of course, we knew later that shae's statement was correct. he must have wanted to keep it secret for some reason..

Better prepare ourselves that we wont hear/see anything until DOI (if he goes there) Or even late summer, until Jmedia visits Cricket.

If letting David to choose music means we have atrocious cuts as for Notre Dame (how he managed to ruin such spectacular music will forever be a mystery to me), i'm pretty okay with Yuzu picking music on his own.

I don't think Yuzu will change his choreographers. I think he uses choreographers that are willing to listen to him and let him do things his own way. Big name choreographers more or less have some ego. They are less willing to let their clients decide on the music or change the choreography. It doesn't matter who his choreographers are, given his technical content (he add more difficulty), as long as he is clean, he will break the world record.

IMO, all of his coaches, choreographers, costume designers and other supporting staff are his employees. Yuzu is the boss. The performances/programs we see from him are mostly products with his vision, completed with support from his staff.

OT trivia time: I just heard that song a couple of days ago when I played some music for my grandpa  my grandparents used to record music from the radio. Old school, on cassettes, of course. I converted the whole bunch to CDs a couple of years ago (after the evil player had eaten some of their favorite recordings). I still remember how irritated I was when I got to a cassette saying "pop songs 60s" and suddenly I heard a song in Japanese. But according to Wikipedia the song was apparently quite popular in several countries.
Bonus trivia: later I found out that my mother was actually very familiar with a cover version of The Blue Diamonds – two Indonesian-born brothers from the Netherlands who sang a German version of this Japanese song (with made-up lyrics that had nothing to do with the original). I couldn't have made this up if I had tried

I remember this song "Sukiyaki". I was in elementary school at the time. All my classmates were having fun trying to sing a song in Japanese! I still can even remember some of the words!:peace:

Yeah, he said it at the FS small medal ceremony at Worlds. Another program he said he likes a lot is R&J 1.0

I sometimes imagine him playing the piano lol
He can play quatre-mains with me any day... :luv17:
I happen to have a huge collection of Japanese video game music and anime sheet music piano books. I'm sure there's something in there he's familiar with.

it's been said before but it would be really cool if he skated to some video game or anime music
