So I have a question about this translation
Y: I didn’t have a concussion. An American doctor came immediately afterward to treat my wound. Brian was worried about me so he was talking to the doctor in English. They asked me in English, what is 100 minus 7, wait it was harder than that, something like 100 minus 7 and then minus 7. And it was after all the panic and I hit my head and my chin, so they had to check I don’t have a concussion. But they asked me such a hard question and I had to answer in English so I was like “huh huh???”
K: It is difficult even in an everyday life.
Y: So I remember that really well. I was like “I can’t answer that.”

If this translation is correct, Yuzuru was asked "100 minus 7 minus 7 equals". I'm very surprised if he wasn't able to answer such an easy math question in English (?). 100 minus 7 minus 7 is simple arithmetic. Even 100 minus 7 divided by 7 should not be difficult.

To be honest, I'm glad to be hearing about this much later. If right after the collision, I would have been even more worried.

^^ we know Yuzu is the math guy who quick thinking on his feet to avoid zayaking and also majoring in Human Informatics and Cognitive Sciences. Maybe he was not able to understand the question at that time

I assumed it may have been difficult for him because they asked him in English and maybe it was phrased in a way he wasn't familiar with. I'm sure if it was asked in Japanese he could've answered easily.

The first two years I lived in the UK, with English not being my first language, the ONE thing I hated above everything else was people asking me to do math out of the blue. Math is something that your brain has learned in one particular language, and it's surprisingly difficult to switch it to another language, it's even more difficult to switch when you are in a stressful situation.
So basically, it's got nothing to do with the math itself, and absolutely everything to do with the language barrier.

I think so too.
What concerns me more is he actually thinks they brought a stretcher out on the ice to fetch him (confirmed this translation with video). Please correct me if I'm wrong but I sure didn't see one. Could it have been folded?

I agree. I myself would be confused because even if I learned English, math operating was not included in the lesson normally. Added the state of he was in.

The youku link never works for me.

Ayarose, would you please provide the alternative link to Episode 4 of Kenji's Room?

Thanking you in advance.
Geo1, have you tried to download the video? I also can't play the youku video. But I use this site savevideo.me & download the video with downloader. Oh and here's the direct link of the video, if you have a downloader like IDM, you can add the URL and download it.
Hope it helps.

This direct link is really really great!!!! Thank you very much!!
Youku does work for me but it's really slow, and most of the time I loose my nerves before I finished watching the whole video.
Do you happen to have the direct link of the other three parts as well?

Yuzu digs math perfectly, but don't cognitive sciences and human informatics belong to humanitarian/social major?

I understood he was asked 100-7-7-7-7... and so on (どんどん引いて- dondonhiite- in Japanese). He added that he was stressed more by his wound in his chin, besides he didn't feel like answering that in English, so he told Brian and the American doctor that he could not answer that but he was conscious.

As per the starting pose- I had a laughter too on Mansai telling him it looked like flamenco- it did not to me but if Mansai says it does- I just have to give his words a credit.

Mansai wasn't saying that Yuzuru's pose looked like flamenco. He said that if Mansai himself were to do the pose without the eboshi and kariginu costume, it would look somewhat like a flamenco pose. I honestly couldn't tell the difference between Mansai's Seimei's pose to his "flamenco" pose though

Edit: dia has already replied above.

It can belong to science, engineering, humanities/social science depending on the major one choose. Info on cognitive science and human informatics.

At Waseda this course is under the Faculty of Human Sciences. Many career possibilities, such as product design. Yuzu can do user interface design or game design .

Don't forget socks design and necklaces design  Besides, he already has the experience.
Thanks for the information and links :) I just looked up his subjects which focus on processes running in humans and thought they belonged to human sciences more. I also remember Yuzu saying he really enjoys studying psychology there.

it seems Yuzu was the wisest of the group!

Odaimyo, thanks for the links! The savevideo.me site works great! I was able to download the video.

I usually use ClipGrab for YouTube and Dailymotion videos, but it doesn't work for youku. Strange, but the direct link that you provided does not work for me.

Thanks again!

It looks like I spoke too soon. The downloaded video is only about 6 minutes long. It's missing the last 18 minutes. Help!
