Are you talking about that backward cross roll (I think it was called) at the begining of the sequence? I miss it too, it fit the frosty music better and with the forward repetition later it looked like more of a whole. Not happy with the change. The old one had more character.

Yes, and there was other parts too that I miss a lot The new one looks so generic to me, really. There are parts that don't fit the music well at all, part of the 'soul' of the program is gone. Or maybe I can't take out the image of the old one out of my head, that's why I'm not feeling it. I guess we can't have it all ...

The new step sequence is just ... No. They took out one my favourite parts. :rolleye: Jumps apart, I'm not really feeling his practice here, he looks a ton more sharp in his movements at Autumn Classics. Unpopular opinion?

Yeah, the step sequence ... such a shame.

I think he was sharper here than at AC, but the camera work is really different which can explain it looks not that good. I don't understand why cameraman always make close-up when a larger view is better in order to see all the movement of the skater...

Yes, the new one looks more hectic like the "usual" ISU step sequences we see nowadays. I still like it but...
Yeah.

ETA: wait, what happened to the "thanks" buttons? They were here for like five minutes and then disappeared.
ETA2: oh they're back again. lol experimentation.

I watched couple of times his new step sequence and at first I really liked it, but now...It's much more COP-friendly but you're right - the first version was more into character of music. Anyways - it's still good and maybe he'll change some moves during the season.

it's still pretty early in the season, so most likely the step sequence will evolve throughout the season and he'll also have more chances to personalize it like how he did with the Chopin step sequence :]

Yeah but... that cool movement that I havent seen anyone do before...

:bang:

I doubt that he will change again, did he ever change part of programs mid-season (not counting last season)? I think the changes in Chopin were made just to meet the original choreography. I'm guessing we'll just have to settle for this COP friendly step sequence but I can't help to feel so dissapointed. Oh well ...

Also upset that my favorite part of the ss got taken out, but super excited to see him completing all three quads in one run through.

Guess he did it to make sure he got the levels this time...oh well :slink:

Stupid levels killed the sexiness of a fantastic program. Yuzu, bring the first variant back please, the new one is way generic. Do something, you're a magician after all! Please.

Haha it seems that I am the opposite of most people where I am freaking out about his 3 quad free and everyone is calm, but everyone is freaking out about the step sequence and I am calm. I am still hopeful that it will look better with more mileage on the program (or I am going to make myself believe that lol)
Edit: Nooo! I didn't get a chance to save the video before it was removed

LOl. I miss the part after he does that little lunge-y type thing... you knew it was going to change when it didn't get the levels in Barrie. But nice to see the jumps are all there. Now to do it in competition...

LOOOOL I knew they were going to destroy the steps; c'mon we all knew. And yep the magic is gone. At least the jumps were there

I'm with you though XD yes the stqs changed but I feel like the previous one at AC seems empty aside from the fierce gliding backwards so this is good change but just wished he kept the fierce part 😂

I loved the stqs but I agree with your assessment that the previous one was a bit empty. This one fills the music more.

I'm rewatching it and I'm kinda warming up to the new version. But honestly, with the first one, because it was less 'hectic' he looked much more in control, I think the 'emptiness' was more fitting to the mood of the mysterious music. Part the new one looks like all-of-his-LP-StSQ ever so it's kind of meh. At least they kept a tiny bit of the last part ... And I think he's kinda floppy with his movements in this run through so it looks less appealing. BUT It may be just because he changed it in 2 weeks, who knows. It will look better later on, hopefully.
