Yuzuru Hanyu: 2015-16 Season

Wow. You wasn't only watching but also managed to read his thoughts and mentality there. I'm impressed.
Yuzu is focused and everything because he came here to work, perform his best and win. This super cheesy and arrogant king thing can be said about Plushy, not Hanyu.
Just personal thoughts. With all this hype and hysteria about Hanyu more people try to keep the things hot and make stuff bigger than it is, to create a more interesting competitive atmosphere for themselves. Not meaning you but still. Fans seem to forget what Hanyu’s values really are and always have been, same for mentality. Well, it's not that spectacular, I think.

Lol what. Geez, chill. Aura of confidence while performing strong enough to be clearly visible and convincing to the audience is a good thing, and commenting on it is not a crime. Why are people so bent on reading insults where none is intended or even there? How does the opinion of "I watched him and he's so charismatic, a king who knows is a king" can be read as "I think he's super cheesy and arrogant?"

and btw, Plushy had on-ice confidence in spades, yes, it was of his greatest qualities, and I can only wish other skaters were capaple of projecting it as strongly.

Omg i am getting so pumped up for SC. Seriously I hope Yuzu can deliver his program like he did in this practice because that was something else!!!
For the step sequence, I am not really bothered by the changes because my favourite moment is still in there and the iconic model/warrior stroll as well. So there is definitely more content but the original choreography and spirit remains. And come on we all know Yuzuru is not gonna bear getting level 2s on his step sequence so that was a necessary change

Realistically practice is often better than real competition, thus I don't expect Yuzuru to skate really well in competition at this early stage. Of course good surprise is very much welcomed!

PS: Please add me to the group of people who don't feel bothered by the change in the step sequence. I think it's complex enough for CoP now.

+1 , count me in, I am also not bothered by the change of that stsq, I liked it. :agree:
You will never know, the result of bad practice can be amazing performance (Yuzuru's RJ1 in Nice)
Sometimes good practice can end with not so good performance (Sochi LP)

yes it's true, but I have never seen him in better shape at this stage than what he showed yesterday. Last year in coc practices he was having problem landing quad toe, and he missed almost all salchows. He is really fit here and in good shape

Me too I'm not bothered by the change in the stsq. I think they actually only got rid of those gliding backwards moves and replaced it with the more intricate steps and kind of made the rest looking more detailed/complex and high level worthy. It still looks pretty so I'm cool.

At first I was uncomfortable with the changing steps, but after seeing the video FanCam was possible to see other details and now I am sure that he and his team are making the necessary adaptations for better performance. Was possver see that changing steps allowed the optimal speed for the execution of jumps. It is my thoughts have not suficente propridade to discuss the technical part. It's just my sensitive eyes, for me this great program is a working process under construction. Yuzu is maturing and improving their performance and booking a good surprise every day. IT'S INCREDIBLE.

Could this be what happens when Yuzuru spends less time doing Summer shows, more time at Cricket Club, less media intrusion/distraction allowed, less travel disrupting training etc etc...?

Keeping last year's short program helps too I guess? and also the motivation of facing Patrick Chan in competition?

Now I can clearly see the part that he left off, while it is a shame, I always find falls in a program somewhat disruptive(maybe more so than other viewers) and also reminding myself that falls, according to skaters, do take the wind out of them a lot of times. So, I am thinking this is a good thing that they are able to make the necessary changes.

Oh and to give credit to Papa Orser, he did not forget about Pooh! He was on the rink side watching Nam's practice (he was is 1st group) and then when it's over that is when Hanyu-san causally walked over with his best pal saying hello to Papa Orser.

I am sure a lot of skaters were watching him, but also, Adam was quite close to him in a lot of jumps in the 2nd half of his run through. He ducked out of the way. Then, when the practice was over and they were bowing to the audience, Adam actually said something to him (maybe apologizing or asking if he was in the way) in which Hanyu-san answered "No, no problem!".

Yes I noticed about someone getting pretty close to him here and there but Yuzu didn't seem fazed so it's all good. That's nice of Adam to do that

hey this has nothing to do with what is happening right now but I am wondering if one of you had a link to that 2015WC video montage done by Japanese tv I believe.
It was set to bolero music but opera version with German lyrics. It showed a wide variety of skaters and how they did at worlds. One moment was Yuzuru walking in slow motion backstage with the shadow moving on his back, it also showed the shower of poohs in slowmo and in the end it was the Yuzu's final phantom ending pose with "see you next season" written.
That was such a beautiful video and I have been looking for it for hours today but can't find it

Simplifying them is what I mean. Of course he is still doing steps; that's a requirement. But he's doing the usual 3-turn into the 4T now instead of 4T suddenly happening out of nowhere.

He has steps before it, and not easy, but not insanely difficult.

He looked pretty solid in practice. Just a couple early stumbles on the 4T.

The take off is different than were used to seeing. More curved, instead of straight down the ice. Definitely still steps going in but perhaps more simplified.
