I don't think Patrick was overscored (at least not at pcs, but maybe at GOEs), but Yuzu looked a little bit tired. Almost 89 looks fine to me. I'm sure at the next events he'll get 91 and also better GOEs for some jumps (I would have given him more for that beautiful 4S that's getting better and better)

With the problems at 4T at SP..why not consider the 4S?

Well if Yuzu's problem with the SP was timing, then wouldn't the 4S be worse?

Anyone got a B.ESP version of the FS?

I was thinking the same, seriously.

Apart from 4S seeming more stable now, it also removes the risk of a repeated 2T like we saw this time...

The only thing is, that his 4sal doesn't match his short. I mean his sal entrance is just too dynamic for this Chopin music

Omg I had a dream Chan was breaking the 200points and this record would never belong to Yuzu....
But fortunately, I had a better surprise when I woke up!! 3 quads, and 2 3A, that's awesome! Shame about the single toe on the combo, and the last lutz... Well Yuzu will be Yuzu. ;)
I won't complain about the inflation, first because it was expected and second because Yuzu in second is enough to make the Final and after all... Everything is going as planned! Chan wins GP, Yuzu wins GPF and Worlds. Perfect. I also won't talk about the judge who gave 7s to Yuzu in PCS...
I'm RELIEVED !
And I love Seimei more and more... The choreo part with epic music gives me goosebumps.
Hahaha and I loved desperate Yuzu during the press conference "Can I speak japanese?" So cute I wanna hug him ! His english improved so much it's great! And he became so talkative in the Kiss&Cry ^^

Well done Yuzu !! :gclap:

He's trying so hard, it's adorable!

I do not doubt Patrick's victory, I hate the guy but think he did deserve this first place. But the score gap still does not make sense to me, in both PCS and TES. I still call it Skate Chanada. We just have to agree to disagree.

Ha...ha...ha !
Skate Chanada!!! Very nice indeed ! :):gclap:

I don't think it was inflation.
I don't think it was extra points for being a Canadian in Canada.
I don't think it was Hanyu being "held back" by skating earlier.

Chan was simply "on fire", and did everything near-perfect.
So he got high Grades of Execution for nearly everything, mostly +2's.
(It's not as if he got row after row of "outrageous" +3's across the board or anything)
And those +GoE points really add up, just look at the protocols.
I don't see anything obvious to complain about, regarding the technical score.
(I wouldn't even argue about his PCS either)

As always, we shouldn't just look at what a skater didn't do... we must look at what they did do.
All the other jumps he did, even though "only triples", were worth a lot of points, because they were done so well.

Hanyu has a much higher base value, a much higher scoring potential.
But to make that extra difficulty "pay", he needs to peform his elements "cleanly", and get those extra GoE points.
He doesn't necessarily need to be perfect, just better than last night.

We all know Hanyu is not at his best at his first competitions of the season. I'm sure he will improve in the following weeks/months - get more comfortable with his programs... make adjustments... add more polish, refinement and expression... skate more cleanly. His scores will rise accordingly.

And when he also performs his SP without giving away about 20 points... he's likely to be unbeatable...!

Yeah, unfortunately yuzu was nowhere near hs usual quality (ie, most other skaters would just envy his jumps and spins, instead then being ready to sell their souls to achieve that perfection) and that was the best I've ever seen Chan skate like ever (even better then 2011 wc or 2013 teb IMO) if he hadn't popped the second quadruple he could have broken his world record... (but I still feel that while Chan wan't overscored, yuzu was underscored in the pcs IMO he should have broken 90...)

On a lighterr note: What the hell was wrong with judge number 3? has Yuzu insulted his/her ancestor and danced on their graves to earn such low scores:slink:

Explanation #1 It was a Canadian judge saving room for Patrick. (Possible the same one that gave Patrick 3 10s)

Explanation #2 It was a judge who really really isn't into Yuzu's skating.

Something I wondered. What's a perfect loop for judges ? I've never seen huge GOEs on a triple loop, even Yuzu "only" gets +1, when his loop his oe of the easiest I've ever seen. What could he (or any other skater, nevermind) possibly do more to get higher marks ?

Okay... literally every SC Seimei youtube video I've found is geoblocked. Where is it not? :slink:
Here: http://dai.ly/x3buxai
Daily motion is safe from licenses so you don't have to worry about being geoblocked.

Or here for better quality:
For anyone who is having trouble streaming Yuzu's FS I uploaded a copy I was finally able to save from dailymotion into my google drive. You should be able to stream or download the clip here: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B0ghgb8rCrI8U1dzdkV4cm83QzQ/view?usp=sharing

Explanation # 3: Yuzuru reminds him/her about his/her EX (yeah..the one that got away):peace:

Congratulations to Yuzuru's come back after the SP. He skated so well! I loved Patrick's skating, too, but I agree with those who think Yuzuru was a little bit underscored. But this their first battle, and Patrick won. Yuzuru will have chance to correct it!!!! He easily can get more points for the SP, but for the LP, too!!!

Patrick-Yuzuru: 1:0 will be very exciting season!

200+ still to come ;)

AMEN to that. The program is created for such maximum score. If Yuzu can continuously improve and get better at performing it, then I'd have no doubt he'll achieve it. :2thumbs:
The same for Chopin.. clean skate + great performance = >100 guaranteed I think.

Explaination #1 is more plausible.

Btw, British Europsport Commentary: http://youtu.be/qsYc4UG4FIQ

Thanks! Been looking forward to watch it.

p.s. new emojis are so cute :gclap:

If he had done 3a+2t instead of 3a+1t, would he have zyacked on his second 3a?

I don't think so right? There is not a second 2T and it's in combo so I don't think it'd be zayaked? not sure, can anyone confirm?

:ghug: <-- I really love this new emoticon!!! :)

He made it again, for now this is the best lp he ever gave at GP series so far, it will be much better for NHK and sublime for GPF. I agree that some of his jumps weren't as perfect as we usually see from him, he has to work about that. in whole I am not worried about his lp, SP is a bit more worring tho, I hope he will fix that 4toe issue, 3 weeks till NHK :) Imo Patrick did a good thing for him that he decided to come back, Patrick is someone special for him, it only fires him up :laugh2:
He seems healthier than ever(knock on the wood) way to go Yuzu
