I bet it was "mond" or something close to it because in Polish spread eagle is called "mond" and it's not a polish word.
Yeah, first it sounded like moon ([moan]) and then later more like mode, so yeah, I agree. We will figure this out, hahahahaha.

OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG!!!!!!! A NEW WORLD RECORD!!!!! I just can't bottle up my excitement!!! I just can't calm down even though it's like almost two hours since the sp!!!! He finally skated this program clean!!!! The combination is aweseome, the 3A is just so fast and smooth!! The 4S was kinda scary, but he is just awesome!!!!! CONGRATS YUZU!!!! You're the king of the castle in Japan!!!
Good luck to yuzu for tmr!! I also hope his sp will continue improving as the season progress!

Maybe moon = spread eagle?
He was a bit short on the 4S (but within the quarter turn), the spread eagle helped him rebalance himself. Really brilliant plan too - checks off a bullet point for GOE and as B.esp put it can be kind of a safety net.

:agree:

Genius!

I don't know how Yuzu has been able to change Chopin choreo in such a short period of time, but this is the Yuzu I love, the one who sets the bar higher and higer and who has an amazing killer instinct.. see the eyes at the end of SP.

today Yuzu really moved me, all I can say is THANK YOU!

I woke up in the middle of the night just to check the results and I want to scream, he flew, he flew far from anyone's reach. Oh God, thank you, thank you. I will see the clean Chopin tomorrow if I can go back to bed calmly that is.

This is the return of the King.

Im not sure what time zone you guys are in but Yuzu sure seems to have some luck on holidays!
Valentines day 2014 - olympic gold
Halloween 2015 - amazing skate canada fs
Thanksgiving 2015 - WORLD RECORD!!!

Only 2hrs ahead of you. Hope I didn't wake my neighbors when that monstrous score came up. :scard8:

Huge congrats to Yuzu on an amazing Chopin SP! Seemed like a lot to have changed and mastered in just a few weeks. Props! Hoping he has a great FS as well.

And much appreciation to incredible Boyang Jin for not only delivering a stellar SP himself but also "encouraging"/challenging our boy to bring his best. Fiery Yuzu is just

Okay, I just found out about the news now and I'm super late to the party. I'm so happy about Yuzu's accomplishment today in the SP! ;) It's amazing that he beat his own world record!! :yahoo: I haven't been keeping up with the thread for a day and the page numbers expand super fast, lol

how cute were Brian and Yuzu in the kiss&cry, just before the scores were revealed?

b: a hundred... a hundred and something
y: I hope so
b: I hope so too.

and their faces when they saw the scores:laugh:

Yuzu was quite pleased with the way he had skated, wasn't he? I think ot was the first time I heard him going for the higher numbers in his prediction :agree2:

I was honestly upset that that jumping kid got such high PCS (coz big jumps doesn't equal great skating), but Yuzu litterally kicking bottoms (lol yes avoiding the a word) was the best thing that could have happened today. 😄❤️
He'll need "only" 193.67 in his FP to reach the 300 line. I hope he will, because SEIMEI has what it needs to reach even more.
But more than anything, I hope he'll stay calm and will not loose focus after what he had just done today. GO YUZU! FLY! :cheer:

OH MY GOD GUYS!!!!! GUUUUYYYYYSSSS!!!!!
:ghug:

NEW WORLD RECOOOOOOORRRRRRDDDDDD!!!!!! :hap57:

Btw did anyone notice his preparation pose before the music started.. like he lifted both arms up twice. Idk if that means anything but to me he seemed so calm and ready to put up a great show and he did!

That salchow is borderline but he stayed on his feet and it's great. I think the spread eagle was well put in a way that it helped him regain balance quick if anything.
Was expecting him to start spinning already when he's starting the combination jump haha but I think it turned out ok. Just need to get used to it. And agree with B.ESP he made it look easy!
I think it's possible to move the combo later in 2nd half when he's more comfortable and then probably they'd move up the spin back to the original.. idk if he has such plan though.
Beautiful 3A out of a tricky entry indeed..
You gotta love that piercing eyes at the final pose. GREAT JOB!! :2thumbs:

Gosh the quality of it was just sublime!! There's hardly any moment when he's not doing anything.. like B.ESP said, transitions everywhere. I feel like he was so light like a feather flying through the ice. Brilliant performance put out by him.

I'm so proud of him! And how's Brian managed to stay calm after that performance? I bet he's all jumping inside haha.
Aw after the replay ended from his piercing eyes, straight to the adorable look of him. :luv17:

LOOOOVE how ecstatic Brian was (and his HOLY!!! lol) almost more than Yuzu himself haha but ofc both of them feel joyful. That hug at the end and how they kinda gave appreciation gesture to one another is so sweet and touching.

I'm so glad that my feeling was proven right again by him. And isn't it crazy how the score still has potential to be a little higher?? WOW. Now hoping that his free will turn out great too. Idk if I want it to be flawless yet since it means he peaks a little early.. but best of luck anyway!

Wow sorry for the super long post. I got too excited.

Lol. I missed the performance because I was out doing errands. And I came home to this chunk of good news. Congratulations, Yuzu! :D

Newest Q&A. Hoping someone can do a quick translation. Thanks!

I was just at it not knowing if anybody would be interested :)
Let me know if anyone finds any mistakes. I don't think I was able to understand some parts.

---------
Thoughts after performance
- In one word, there's still tomorrow. I've never skated (the SP) without making mistakes so everybody was really worried for me. I appreciate the powerful way they supported me. Tbh, it was fun.

Regarding Boyang Jin's high score
- I heard the announcement in Japanese so I knew what it was but it didn't concern me. There are things that (only) I'm able to do. I was able to skate with excitement, without being concerned about making mistakes. It wasn't perfect but I landed all the jumps. I'm capable of doing more.

Regarding the changed elements
- I'm still planning to change the entry and landing of the 4S that would earn more GOE. I want to improve its execution. It was the first time in a while that I've been able to challenge it in a relaxed manner. It was not planned for this season. The program has become a totally different program. This was the first time I jumped the 4-3 in competition. If everything went well, I was going to include it in the latter half of the FS. I'm glad I could do it without mistakes. (In the near future) I want to do include the quad in the 2nd half.

What kind of training have you been doing
- I've been doing intense and hard training.

What made you decide on changing the elements
- I thought that I'd have to include 2 quads in the SP some day to win. I'd have to do the jumps with difficult entries, landings, steps, spins, skating with total focus until the end before I go to PyeongChang. To win consecutively as an OGM, I have to be predominantly strong. I haven't reached my goal yet.

Regarding the new world record
- I thought I have to be surprised by it (not sure what he means here). It's been a while since I got a score over 100 and score-wise, people might think that Hanyu is back. I was able to execute elements of highest difficulty that I'm currently capable of.

About the new senior skaters
- Starting with Uno-senshu, a lot of wonderful skaters have come up (from junior). I'm only 20 years old but I'm treated like an old man. When I'm competing with Mura-senshu, I don't think like "he's my senpai" but more like "I'm definitely going to beat him". I haven't been able to include the 4lz yet. I want to tell Jin-senshu that I'm studying him.

Are 2 quads in the SP necessary?
There are skaters who can do them, and there are skaters who can't. If I were asked if they are definitely necessary, then "definitely" is not the answer. I was able to score over a 100 with 1 quad. If I went with 2, I'd have nothing to lose. I wish to do more than quads (something in addition to quads?).

Any memories of 1998 Nagano Olympics?
- It was before I started skating so I don't remember much. I don't remember the Olympics then.

Thoughts for the FS
- I want to focus, enjoy, and do what I'm capable of doing to my full potential. I want to enjoy the feeling of joy after the SP and go about it in a relaxed manner.

(cutting the parts I wanna comment to only because otherwise it'll get so long)

How in the world is he gonna change the entry of that 4S that looks super hard to do already..
So he indeed has a plan to move the quad to the second half.. as well as including 4-3 combo in the free in the second half??

Hoping that he'll bring the positive energy to tomorrow's free and stay focus and perform to his best! :agree:

Thanks mikaboo for the translation! Glad he is taking note from SC and keeping calm and relaxed :) Curious to see how he does in the fs! Seeing brians reaction to the world record at both GPF 2013 and NHK 2015 makes me really wanted him to be at the k&c during sochi, but Miss Kobayashi did a good job making up for that ;)

I can't watch the B.ESP uploaded on youtube. Did anyone know whether there is any B.ESP video oploaded on dailymotion?

You know, I have a couple of really crappy days behind me, and a couple of really crappy days will be coming up, and it was really worth it to not sleep in this morning, because this is going to get me through the day :yahoo:
here's hoping that he'll be only half as amazing tomorrow, because that would be more than enough to get me through the whole week :hap93:
I think I need to get my hands on some tranquilizers for the GPF. It would be well worth the heart attack, though. But if I'm already back to screaming at the grainy stream on my computer, God only knows what may happen in Barcelona
