Thank you for the translation. I love this part "There is nothing I can see beyond it, but I must go beyond it" :drama:

I do not really love that part, as it makes me really anxious! Hopefully Brian & his team will be able to put him back into a competitive mindset.

Oh, come on, how it is possible that you don't like it. It's being ambitious, it's being excited to discover what you don't know. It's just diving deep in the see of unpredictables. Well, it is my own personality and I naturally like people who think like me. But, definitely there are people that do not agree with that. I just think life is so exciting when you look at it from this point of view and he is only 20 and it's natural for him to be this excited.

I also want to watch the Onmyoji movies so bad since NHK, I looked everywhere and did not find any version with English subs, not even on Youtube. Did you manage?

Also my first post on this thread, I read this from time to time and it's amazing how captivating he is! I remember him since Junior Worlds 2009 and was really impressed on seeing him with such presence and a 3A at age 14. The ESP commentators in my country back then named him as something very very special and even though he finished below top 10 they made a special mention to his performance. (To this day they are still huge fanladies) What a long way he's come! I hope he stays healthy and that he doesn't psyche himself too much to beat his record. Hoping for good performances at NHK!

If I'd known that first Onmyoji movie was OOZING bromance all over the place, I'd have watched it years ago! Jeepers.

I don't think he'll have much trouble with it. It's Yuzu we're talking about. He may have broken the WR and gave us a performance we'll remember forever, but we also know how much he likes to win. He still has to beat Patrick and Javi this season (we saw in the interview how much Patrick's presence fired him up at SC), and he still wants to get that World Title back :)

Maybe my reaction comes from also watching the video itself and seeing his face/tone of voice as he said the line. It really looked like he was (putting himself) under a lot of pressure, and at a loss for what to do - rather than saying the quoted phrase in a determined way. He himself says that "More than winning 3 times, the pressure of my own points is too strong." (quoted from Interspectator's translation)

To me he did not seem excited at all.

Of course, I am speaking as a worried fan as well so I am biased :) But his face and tone really worried me there, lol.

What a wonderful weekend for Yuzu and his team. I loved every moment and I'm very glad I got up at 4 am to see it...I haven't done that for an athlete for ages. So memorable for skating fans.

However, his next task is very close: the GPF. After such a weekend of high emotions, and more press afterwards which can be draining, it would be natural for him to have a bit of a letdown at the GPF. I don't know if he stayed in Japan, or went back to Toronto, but getting back to training right after that to get ready for the GPF could be difficult....or he could ride that high right into Barcelona because the events are so close, who knows. I know, though, that he's a real competitor, he'll be as ready as he can be, especially with a fresh challenge ahead of him (beating Patrick/Javi). I can hardly wait to see what happens!!

What a treat we're going to have from Barcelona!!

In relation to Yuzuru talking about his scores and maybe going beyond them, I think this all reminded me that one of the qualities I love most about him is his ambition. He wants to do his absolute best at all times. I find it refreshing that he's out there and he's declaring to everyone Yes I want to win the Olympics again! Yes other skaters drive me to win! Yes I want to be the BEST!! And better still when he says these goals he tends to achieve them haha so even though it may not be soon (but who knows??) I have total faith in Yuzuru that the day those records are broken, he'll be skater doing it.

Which is odd because every other season I find myself very nervous for him >< :scratch2:

I think the fact that he realizes that there is pressure from that record means that he'll be fine. Even if he never beats it, there are other goal he could strive for: sucessfully including a quad loop into his programs, winning over mavericks like Boyang, getting the second Olympic gold with a clean performance...

Just adding my own 2 cents, I think the stars all lined up for him during this competition. Like many commentators have said, going over 300 was the original goal, but he totally went beyond that, so it's natural to think "what is there to do? " "What else is there in front?"

However, if we are talking about any other athlete I would've been worried; Hanyu-san, I just have nothing but trust. He actually talked about what he think he can do better (in one of those post-interviews- I do not remember which); I think he talked about polishing up the landing to the 4S in the SP and adding even more difficult entry to the jumps. Plus at GPF he'll face a different group of skaters (except for Boyang) than the onse at NHK which will definitely fire him up differently. Plus I think he also want to prove that it is not a fluke what he got at NHK, just like after the Olympics he said so himself he wanted to prove that it wasn't a fluke he was the OGM.
