So the latest news is that Yuzuru will not go to 4CC. I really want him to go there but I guess he needs a long rest.
I wonder if there could be any small competition he will do before WC? He needs to maintain competitive mood before WC.

Last year, Kozuka went to Universiade at Spain at the beginning of February. Yuzu is a student and eligible, provably. But i don't see if there's high possibility for him to go there and don't know the status of this competition.

Though I was hoping to see Yuzuru at 4CC, I'm glad he'll be able to have a good long rest with plenty of training building up to worlds :)

Pffft. Made a mistake (accidental though) looking at the mens free thread :hslap: some people have so many times analyzing and (rather) complaining of the national inflation especially for Yuzu.. and enjoying it too much if I may say.
Maybe if they have that much time to spend, they should also do it to the Russian Nationals thread. (if they haven't yet) :p

Btw, does anyone know when the gala is supposed to be held?

Yeah I'm slowly learning that it's sometimes best to avoid those threads. Certain people love a chance to tear down skaters who do better than their faves, it's sad really. The gala is today I believe.

I read in an interview that Yuzu is starting to practice figures with Tracy. He is determined to improve his skating skills and get consistent stsq4.
TSL will be very pleased.
(wish there's a way to tell them this)

I"m relieved he's not doing 4CC. I like that he's started doing figures with Tracy. Talk about dedication to improve, especially since many skaters hated doing figures...

"I think we have to look at the big picture realistically -- the whole season," Orser said. "I think a lot of skaters and the world are realizing that he is human. I think he is just tired from the season."

"Of course, I am always a human being," Hanyu responded when told of Orser's comment. "I think there is some exhaustion from the season, and although I don't want to say it, I always tend to peak at the Grand Prix Final and cool down at nationals."

That pretty much sums it all. Yuzu definitely is aware of it.. but still he thinks there's something wrong and he'll try to find the problem and fix it. I really think it's just exhaustion. Hope he's not forcing himself in the training. The most important is to try to relax and rest now.

Btw, practicing figures means all the skating skills, moves, and all that right? Sorry I'm not really knowledgeable with terms. Anyway it's good that he never stops learning and always push himself to improve. That's the way he'd get ahead of the others and get better himself. :agree:

He is always very self-aware. He is aware of himself (he is aware of his strength, weakness, physical conditions, mentality, etc.), his rivals, as well as the development of the sport. That's how he gets ahead of others. IMO, his self-awareness (more than his talent and self-discipline) is his biggest strength. Fans really do no need to worry about him.

I want Yuzuru to consider his conditions and peaks a bit more, but he said at the end of the interview after LP, "I definitely do not want to do this (level of) performance in the nationals next year."

Very very Yuzuru

I think his physical conditions dropped quite significantly at this national compared to his conditions at past nationals. His LP performance at national this year is even worse than his usual sub-par performances. After the first fall, he was basically fighting to get through the rest of the program. I think he is capable of giving a better performance (if he manages his conditions better) at national even if he doesn't give his best performance.

He's asking Tracy to teach him figures? I'm strangely proud of him for taking that initiative especially since its not his favorite thing in the world. :agree2:

Since he is skipping 4CC I guess it's more possible he'll try 4L at worlds :eeking:

4S
4T
3F
4T+3T
3A+2T
3A+1Lo+3S
4Lo instead 3Lo
3Lz

(Note to self: have turned into a Yuzu-phile since I can type out the 8 jump layout from memory.)

I think he would rather ditch the 3F and put the 4Lo in its stead. Doing a 4Lo at the end of the programme would be too risky. But anyway, I don't think he will try it at Worlds this year, but definitely next year :)

Well, for Yuzu fixing a jump or something usually means chance it into a quad+some crazy transitions. Or move it to the second half and add a 3A at the end because why not.
I know this and yet he surprises me everytime.
