Thank You all for the nice and positive welcome You gave me !

I was a bit shy to tell my story, therefore I waited quite long; thanks for your good wishes for my skating, matmuh.

Yes, danni, I love figure skating because its so hard to learn.

Dear Hanmgse: Totally without instruction or classes I wouldn't advise, you have at least to have the basics, you may learn yourself by watching videos, but on ice you need someone correcting you at least from time to time. As a self-made skater you can practise what you like and you can choose your instructor and stay independent: Very often the instructors that I have for an hour of private lesson tell me NOT to do this complicated entry for the loop jump (the Hanyu-entry, but they dont know that), I just say...jaja...and keep it.
Even with an instructor there is no guarantee that you learn something, not every instructor gives you advice you understand. My instructors - all of them- always said: Your axel is round. Nothing more - they didnt say exactly what I was doing wrong. After 5 years of round axel I solved this mystery myself with the help of Hanyu ( if he knew how often he jumped for me).

Hi Farnaz ! A girl from Munich showed me hydroblade, she can do it deeper than Hanyu, Millimeters above the ice, put your free leg straight forward close to the other leg, its easy. Flip - I know, I dont like the jump...that helped me: Shoulders relaxed, no hollow back especially when putting the right toe-pick, instead pushing the right hip forward, not letting the left shoulder fly faster than the left hip ( don' t copy Hanyus Flip-takeoff, he can do extreme hip moves). I know that is off topic, sorry, if Farnaz saying OK to exchange emails - is there a possibility ?

thank you for the advice :luv17:.

It's not just the 4Lo he wants to add, it seems that he wants to do 3Lz3Lo as well (he was practicing a loop combo with lutz) to maximize his bv. So he may feel he needs more time to practice the new layout.

I think his planned layout at WC maybe

4s, 4Lo, 3F/4t3t, 3A, 3A-1Lo-3S, 3Lz3Lo, 3Lz.

It is risky to try a new layout at the WC for the first time. The pressure at the upcoming WC will not be less than the pressure he faced at 2014WC right after he won the Olympics. I actually hope he can do a senior b in early March before WC to test the new layout. Are there any senior B competitions in early March?

I think there is, I remember Liza tried the 3A on another small competition before Worlds.

Hallo !

After quite a time reading eagerly all your posts I want to say THANK YOU with my first post here. Greetings to all of you !

Every morning its my first click to open this thread. Thanks for all the things posted here, they helped me a lot ...why?
I am crazy about figure skating now in my sixth year, learning it myself mostly without a teacher: Very often I can' t understand, what the figure skating teacher wants from me, so I dont want to spend money for nothing, they usually don't jump themselves and I love jumping - I need someone to show it to me over and over again - guess whom I chose two years ago ?

Especially the practise/ training session videos help me and I never would have found my biggest fault if I had not followed your blog: Not having my middle.
Yes - I am crazy. And I am pretty old. And I am not scared to fall - if you dont fall, you can' t learn.

I admire Hanyu - how he is moving on the ice, his jumps, his pirouettes, his art ( very personal, not following a form/ poise ), his mental strength, his perseverance and his courage to set new standarts in figure skating.

Bye - I have to leave for my ice time ! Thanks again and I hug you all ! Katrin

Welcome to the forum, Katrin! Your words are impressive to me. Thank you for teaching me about your experience.
I haven't done skating until now, but i would love to! I envy your spirits. Good luck for your skating! :hap10:

Wow, you pay attention to lots of details. Honestly, from the moment that I pick my toe till I land, i.e. crash , I don't feel what happens with my muscles. Also, if it works for you, we can send private messages to each other in this forum :).

Hi, just watched the gps collection on DM, really love the new cut version of SEIMEI from 27:02. it is newly edited by asahi tv, some part switched with their own, and it is a much better version than the official broadcast one. Actually best version ever.

Sorry, Farnaz, I set up a private message but I couldnt deliver it because I didnt reach my minimum posts of ten in this forum.
Yes, for every jump I have a folder with videos ( Hanyu mainly, for Flip Takahashi), I have "body feelings" how the jump should feel, every day I write down what I did on the ice and this thing with hip forward (belly in) is from ballet - it takes pressure off the shoulders and you have a perfekt stance, your arms may fly in any direction ( nearly) without harming this stance. Thats the secret - in my opinion, I tried it - of Hanyus off ice toe-loop jumps, I always wondered how he could throw his arms so crazily before rotating.
For the Flip: Leave your head over the pressure-less right side during lift off, I feel several advantages in it, also better rotation, because you stay over our right side the whole time. Have you ever noticed how intensely Hanyu is fixing his right side during takeoff before turning his head to the left ? Good luck with your jumps, just dont tension up and try to keep your middle.

Sorry correction - bad englisch : I wanted to say deutsch "fixieren" = intensely is looking at his right side

...well, liftig my number of posts....

Hahaha! Hamyulla sounds like the name of an adorable hamster that also happens to be a vampire. Count Hamyulla!
with a cape and cute little fangs and everything? :rofl2: you realize that we'll need a picture of that? :laugh2: I can see the tissue box version already

Welcome Katie J and JuliettaG :)

We can see 5 years little Yuzuru in the cut.

Thank you yhmafan. This baby Yuzu is very new to me, and probably to everyone. Jun Suzuki (the boy with Yuzuru and his family took this video) is now a student of Hokkaido University, and he was 13th in the Nationals 2015.

Trailer of NHK program "Sports Bar Katari-tei" hosted by Mitz Mangrove. "Yuzuru Hanyu Special" to be aired on 7 Feb.

Takeshi Honda at 00:13: His eyes were so fierce!! "Give me GOE plus!!" :laugh2:

This is not totally Yuzu related, but still priceless and I wanted to share this with you: someone posted Brian's "performance" during Javi's FS from europeans
1:40 - 2:00 it's just..too much

Thanks for sharing. I can't help but wish there was a similar video of Brian when Yuzuru also first broke 200 in the free skate. But I guess we will just have to be satisfied with Brian and Yuzuru's goat noises there.

I do recall somewhat similar "choreography" in Brian's performance at rinkside at Yuzuru's 2013 WC free skate. Brian can be so limber when he is so excited (anxious) for his students when they skate.

The creators of Yuzura Hanya and others, with the cooperation of this spanish newspaper, present a new name for Yuzuru... YUZURU HAMYULLA:palmf:

I think "Hamyulla" tops even the "best" the Brit Eurosport guys have done. Could it be a sly promotion for the famous Spanish hams and the Yuzu-Yulia ship?

Welcome to the thread! :)

YUZU DAYS (1st Feb 2016)
Yuzuru Hanyu talks about That Moment– Sochi Olympics

Had to smile at the irony of reading there that Yuzuru didn't want to wash his hands after shaking hands with Evgeni Plushenko at Olympic practice and seeing an accompanying picture of him holding a bottle of Joy dishwashing liquid!

Levity aside, Sochi was my "Tale of Two Cities" experience as a Yuzuru fan: the worst of times when I thought like he did that he lost the gold medal he so longed and worked hard for after his mistakes in the free, the best of times when sweet realization dawned that he won and is the Olympic champion.

Thanks to everyone who posted updates, analysis, and links and shared skating experiences (Katie J and Farnaz). Let us sustain each other until the coming of Worlds. :)

YUZU DAYS (1st Feb 2016)
Yuzuru Hanyu talks about That Moment– Sochi Olympics

SO lovely. I actually just rewatched his Olympic performances the other day. It's great for Yuzu that he still ended up with the gold, but his disappointment in the K&C is so palpable (Chan's too). Honestly heartbreaking to see Yuzu and Brian (who literally went through the same thing) sit there. Damn. I remember watching it live and feeling almost numb? b/c it was like 'It's gone... He's just lost the gold." I rmbr thinking I literally can't imagine how disappointed he must be. I don't remember a lot of his post-Sochi interviews on his free, so this was a sad first hand confirmation on what happened.

It's funny because what happened in Sochi is almost happening now–from NHK to GPF. I would normally be assured by his interview on Sochi and his performances at GPF for Worlds, but I'm still nervous! lol Because it's all building, all this tension. I don't know how skaters do it. The physical is whatever, stay healthy, practice safely, etc., but mental game is a whole other ball game (and I applaud Max Aaron for getting a sports therapist). I mean my rational side, the side that'd place my bets, knows yeah he's probably gonna ace it, but still that pressure, man.

Looking up the Aaron interview: "Aaron continues to work with his team psychologist and coaches (including Becky Calvin) on his mental preparation. In the past, he felt he was trying to do everything at once and that he should have taken the time to focus on one thing at a time." Wow. That was exactly what Yuzu was talking about word for word at JPN nat'ls.

At least there's some footage of Brian during Yuzu's 2015 GPF FS :laugh2:
