Proud mothers

Yes, we are very proud mothers. Our prince has grown and is wiser, stronger and beautiful every day.

I love these moments during your workouts. Its concentação capacity is incredible. The noise and the people around him did not bother him. He's in his own world. Is your connection ritual with the ice rink and arena. Your eyes move and record every detail of the place as it performs the movements of FS and SP. Japan's reporting team tries to get the best angle, but unfortunately is invited to walk away because they were obstructing the passage. Everything happens under the watchful eyes of dad Brian and Kikuchi-sam. Yuzu is truly an example of strength, wisdom, determination and love.

Does anyone know why he always wears boot covers? I was wondering whether or not his feet/toe point would look better without them. It's kind of the same thing with Yuna, I'd always thought that her preference for over-the-boot tights made her feet look clunky.

I remember in the one hour long TV interview, he used to mention that black pants made his legs look longer. So I guess boot cover works the same.

Edit: Just googled what boot covers are... May they protect the skate and prevent boot laces from loosening? :scratch2:

I'm not sure if wearing boot covers changes all too much about how his toe point looks. The skates are already black anyway. And the boot covers are still underneath the pants, aren't they? It's different with the women and their tights IMO. It's like, if I wear pants and put them over my boots, I don't see much of a problem with that. Now if I tried to pull my tights over my boots  .....does anyone even get that idea? It's just one of those things that never made sense to me in skating fashion. There's just no way this won't look like you've got some kind of elephant foot disorder.
Anyway, I don't know why he wears them. Maybe just to protect the skates from getting too banged up?

Is it just me, or do his boots look better in his practice gear? They dont look as "clunky" so it has to be the pants... they seem to be more form fitting around the ankle, making the whole boot look smaller. That being said, I also prefer the practice pants... emphasize his line even more... as I type this I am thinking that I would never have thought I'd be analyzing figure skating pants... I am having a slow night, lol

It's a step up from discussing figure skating underwear. Or rather, a layer up.

I think the same, maybe it's also the fabric of the pants.

For me it is not only the pants, but the whole training gear he wears in practice is sometimes better than his competition costume. Every time I see his practice video, I hope his competition costume will be something like that, black, tight, plus of course, some bling bling! It must be great!:luv17:

Video of Yuzuru's quad loops: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x_Y2L6E6DDI uploaded by piece Fragment.

This video "Applause" by Axel yuzu (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=McA14Fcv6AA) joins the long list of Yuzu videos that I watch when I need inspiration or to just simply smile. :) It contains moments from the 2015 NHK and 2015 GPF. In these competitions Yuzuru fulfilled almost all the expectations we fans have of him as well as confounded his constant fault finders and nitpickers (distinguishing them from those who give thoughtful, constructive criticism), who since then I feel have been on the back foot. Moments too that make me feel being a Yuzuru fan is all worth it. Gives me hope too for more timeless moments like these from Yuzuru in the future.

ETA: Many thanks and more power to the creators of these videos.

thanks! I notice that Yuzu's axis on his quad loop isn't always stable and he is a little late getting his free-leg back, so that's something that will need work when the time comes to put it in competition. The rotation and height of the jump is so great though.

yep, that landing scares me a bit

Welcome to Yuzuru Hanyu's Under Armour Fan Club

Now I believe he has started his Chi no niZUmuyouna renshu - bloody (grueling) practice in Canada in his Under Armour.

This is correctly Chi no niJImuyouna, but Yuzuru was so excited after NHK FS, he said it wrongly in the interview.

Fans thought nothing but "So cute " :laugh2:

At least Yuzu doesn't wear black pants over white boots *shudders*

That's why I was surprised by reports that he might put in his quad loop because the only reason he's landing those jumps is because of his ace knee bend.

Replacing the 'Ji' with 'Zu' is a northern accent isn't it? In Akita at least the country folk all replace 'Ji' with 'Zu' very cute that Yuzu did it.

I share your sentiments. The landings of his loop actually remind me of those of another of his edge jumps, his quad salchow -- low on the landing knee with a sideways lean -- when the latter jump was still hit or miss for him in competition.

That's why I was surprised by reports that he might put in his quad loop because the only reason he's landing those jumps is because of his ace knee bend.

I think the inclusion of the quad loop in his programs depends on how consistently he lands the quad loop during practice, low knee bend and all. And even then, as we saw with his quad salchow, the consistency in practice may not immediately translate into competition. I have a feeling though we fans will not have to "suffer" as long as we did in the case of the quad salchow.

Also, we are already midway in the Olympic cycle , so I'd rather have him be used to have that quad loop in competition sooner rather than later. Will put my trust in the decision of Yuzuru and his team and will pray for his success as always. :)
