His boots are 1205000 Yen at the moment, that's more than 10000USD already. http://page21.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/j385052494

If he ever put in action boots that made him break the World record- those might raise a fantastic sum of money. I doubt that he ever will, perhaps the boots that helped him win in Sochi and those with WR will stay in his home collection of go to the museum...

It is now at 1,401,000 :clapper:

They key is how the podium will be at worlds, not much time left to find out :hpull:

It seems that Skate America doesn't like inviting the best skater. They had the chance to invite Yuzuru last season and this season, but they didn't. I guess the US fed wants to give their skaters the best chance to medal and qualify for the final, so they usually avoid inviting the best skaters in each discipline, unless the best skaters are their own skaters or they don't have any medal contenders in that discipline. Yuzuru is the skater US fed tries to avoid.

Seems like they ought to rethink that. 8 out of the last 10 years at Skate America , Japan took gold in the men's and 2012 the Japanese men swept the podium. Yuzu would certainly increase attendance and generate a lot of excitement.

Went into debt paying through the nose for platinum seats :palmf: Better be good! LOL! ;)

Lol I'm sure you'll enjoy the platinum seats :) I'll admit I'm tempted by the club seats they just released facing the same direction as the judges, but I can't justify that cost for an all-event ticket. I had wanted to try and buy a better seat for the freeskate but hadn't been able to find one on ticketmaster or elsewhere.

I think Skate America cares about local fans' attendance more than foreign fans' attendance. The competition attendance still depends on the attendance of local fans. Yuzuru's non-American/Canadian fans can't fill the arena of major championships in the USA or Canada. He doesn't have a big fan base in either of USA or Canada. American and Canadian fans care about their own skaters more than foreign skaters. (Yuzu's biggest fan base outside of Japan is China and Russia. I think Chinese fans and Russian fans care about Yuzuru more than their own skaters.)

US fed rarely invites the top skater to Skate America unless the skater they want to invite is already invited by another fed. They have to invite one of the top 3 skaters and they usually invite the no. 3 skater. If the no. 3 skater is invited by another fed, then they will invite no.2. They only invite the no.1 skater when both the no.2 and no.3 skaters are invited by other feds. They rarely invited the no.1 Japanese skater. But the no. 2, no.3 or no.4 Japanese skater won Skate American most of the time anyway because they are much better than the American men. (Yuzuru was only invited to Skate American once in 2012 because he was 3rd in the previous year's WC. After he won the Olympics, he was not invited last season and this season.) US fed's goal is to increase their local fans' attendance (not foreign fans' attendance) and give American skaters the best chance to medal and qualify for the final. After all, the popularity of figure skating in the USA depends on the interest of American fans, not Japanese fans. The interest of American fans depends on the medals of American skaters, not Japanese skaters.

If Javi does SA & TEB, Patrick does SC & COC and Yuzuru does COR & NHK, they will each have 2 weeks break between their two GPs. That's the most ideal schedule for all three of them. (The only possibility of Yuzuru not going to COR next season is if the French fed insists on Yuzuru competing at TEB. I don't see why the French fed would insists on that. The final will be held in France anyway.)

This is just my speculation based the assumption that the WC medalists will be Yuzu, Patrick and Javi and Yuzu can't skip NHK.

Daisuke Takahashi has won Skate America 3 times, 05, 07, 10. He was 2nd at Worlds in 07, 1st at Worlds in 2010. So clearly what you are saying about Skate America not inviting no.1 Japanese skater or not inviting top non-American skaters is not true.
Yuzu didn't skate at Skate America doesn't mean Skate America didn't invite him. Has it ever occurred to you that Yuzu may have turned down Skate America's invitation?

Maybe Skate America ;)

What I have seen in my limited experience is that Americans love the Japanese skaters. At any rate, very excited to see how it all shakes out for next season and super excited to be going to Worlds in Boston.

in this Radio review of the movie, the man says Yuzu's performance was 'not good, but not bad either'
"There was a lot of lines, and this was his acting debut, so I think he can get better and better. Quite, quite good for a debut."
To be honest I don't mind if he acts poorly... :laugh15: because I will just laugh all the way as he is too cute :luv17:

Sorry, I should've clarified. I meant no.1 Japanese skater as the no.1 Japanese skater in the world, not in Japan. Takahashi was no. 1 Japanese skater in Japan in 2005 and 2007, but he was not the no.1 skater in the world in 2005 and 2007. The only time he was invited to Skate America as the no.1 skater in the world was in 2010. But that also has more to do with the GP schedule at that time. NHK was the first event in the 2010-2011 season and Skate America was 4th. SC, COC, COR and TEB were 2nd, 3rd, 5th and 6th event. The GP hosts gave 1&4, 2&5, 3&6 events to the top 3 skaters. I still don't think Skate America would voluntarily invite the no.1 skater to skate America if they have other choices. (They want American skaters have the best chance to win.) They will first invite the skaters they want to invite before they consider top skaters' preferences.

I don't think skaters can get several offers from different feds at the same time or have the luxury to turn down invitations from multiple feds. Yuzuru may prefer to not go to Skate America because it's too early because he has to go to NHK and NHK is usually the last event. But I don't think Skate America would invite him even if Yuzu chooses Skate America. Javi is the reigning world champ, but he didn't get SA and TEB, but got COC and COR instead.

It's not that American fans dislike foreign skaters. But just like most people, they care more about the success of their own skaters than foreign skaters. They are more interested in seeing their own skaters do well than foreign skaters doing well.
The popularity of skating in the USA wouldn't drop so significantly if American skaters (especially American ladies) continue to medal at major championships like WC. The popularity of skating depends on the success of local skaters. (I'm sure most Japanese fans care about the success of Japanese skaters more than the success of American skaters.)

From the host's perspective, it makes no sense to spend more resources on promoting foreign stars than local stars.

Worlds haven't even come and we are already excited about next season

Yes! We are very excited. Yuzu leaves us well. I'm already viewing a WC podium with Yuzu first, but I'm anxious to see his new programs, the ice show and the upcoming season. OMG next year he will be preparing for the Olympics. Time is passing so fast.

My boyfriend’s obaasan while watching Yuzuru on the news:
