"Hanyu had been rattled earlier in the day when he nearly collided with Kazakh rival Denis Ten, who got in his way during practice. “It didn’t affect him tonight but I bet you he had to go back and do a lot of soul-searching and release the demons because he was carrying it right in his chest,” said his coach Brian Orser. “He was angry. I was telling him, you need to breathe and let it go. You have to move on. Because he’s too good to let that stuff bother him.”

Good ol' Orser to guide his pupil with life. I guess Yuzu still have some residual emotion from the Han Yan-Hanyu collision in 2014.

Do we have any fancam yet?

I'm searching for it. But soon you can find some since Japanese tv's broadcasted SP. This time, the guest commentator is Daisuke Takahashi!

idk, i dont see the point Denis doing it intentionally since its a risk of injury for him too  i hope they will talk about it solve the problem among themselves

and lets not let this overshadow the BRILLIANT performance he just showed us :luv17::hap57: that was amazing! stsq is level 3 but he got highest GOE for it!! (for level 3 anyway:biggrin: it it was level 4 he would get 2.1)

We need not mind the incident. Now everything was over and they both are great sportsmen.:)

He said there's some room to improve before FP like step or jumps. He feels he can do more.

I finally saw the Eurosport guys and it reminded me of something I wanted to say last night but forgot.

When he goes to do the step-sequence towards the end of the SP, you can hear Brian shouting "Go!" from the rink side and I adore that moment! Yuzu exploded then and it all kind of makes such an amazing whole now. Just lovely.

Oh I've also decided this Yuzuru is my favourite Yuzuru. Warrior Hanyu. I loved seeing the passion and the drive and the emotion fueling him to greater and greater heights. Right on Nicky, these are the moments when true champions show their colours. Such a wonderful skate and I am going to miss this SP.

(If anyone had told me a few months ago I'd be happy to get sick and stuck at home, I'd have laughed but boy did it slot in place for me!)

Oh, I didn't notice that voice was Brian. And I'm happy the Olympic champ begins to show his colors. What lovely words!

I only slept foour hours and woke up at 5 to watch this. Couldn't watch it live, but watched it just a few minutes later.
Yuzuru, you're unreal.
Where can one watch British Eurosport?

Here is fan uncle Phil Hersh's new article on Yuzu's performance. But he is a bit late in joining the fan club. The British uncles already crowned yuzu the best ever when he was a teenager a few years ago.

http://www.globetrottingbyphilipher...kater-yuzuru-hanyu-simply-the-best-again-ever

Uncle Hersh throwing shade:

Quote from article:

Rippon gambled he could stay in contention with a clean short program that did not include a quad. He did just that and likely has no shot at a medal but is within reach of fourth-place Shoma Uno of Japan (90.74).
Fernandez took the opposite gamble. He added a second quad in the short program to give himself a better chance of staying within reach of Hanyu. That might have been possible if the second quad, a salchow, had not ended in a fall that cost him at least 4.5 points.

Thanks for mentioning this! I heard the shout during the program, and told myself "Total crazyness of the moment when you hear Brian shouting to cheer Yuzu" but when watching it a second time I was confused, and thought it was just my imagination.

I heard it during the live broadcast too and I was so sure I imagined it due to the emotion of the moment  Then when I was watching the Rai video, I heard it again and paid attention later, and now it just slots into place. Ah what a night!

I thought the step sequence in Boston was more intense with more arm movements compared to those in NHK and GPF.

It is very possible it is just my subjective feeling, due to the moment and all the stress on Yuzu that was quite apparent but I can't help it, it just feels that way. Oh and yes, Grishin totally mentioned Winnie. He and Tarasova were wonderful last night. In fact, mere words on paper don't quite describe how awed she was with Yuzu. I do believe awed is the correct word as she had this particular tone of voice and was almost releasing a stream of consciousness so these were her true feelings. When I heard her last night, it was such a fabulous ending to an amazing night.

Did Grishin really mention Winnie the Pooh? A commentator from Russia delighted with a soft toy? This is so hilarious!
Winnie is one of the most loved characters in Russia but most post-soviet viewers got to know him from a Russian cartoon. This cartoon has a few episodes, each is a different story- it is so good that it has a few humor levels which address both young and adult audience. The character looks a bit different (he is not yellow) and the voice of Russian Winnie the Pooh is by a famous (now late) actor Evghenii Leonov, he was one of the most famous and loved actors in Russia and former USSR countires. Russian cartoons with English subtitles (push that CC button on the right corner below), enjoy!

After Yuzuru Hanyu's short program win yesterday, we heard that the Japan Skating Federation may take action and file a petition for a warning against Denis Ten as a result of an incident in practice yesterday afternoon. I was one of a few journalists in the practice rink when it occurred. And while it is not my place to speculate on Ten's motives, if in fact there were a motive, I can provide you with a rundown of the incident as I remember it (I do not have a video of it) in as factual language as possible.
•Hanyu was in the middle of his short program runthrough when he turned the corner to set up his straight-line pattern into his triple axel
•Ten had just started a spin as Hanyu was turning the corner, and continued to spin as Hanyu was going down the ice
•Hanyu yelled out at Ten and redirected his path to get out of the way of Ten's spin
•Hanyu fell on his triple axel, slid to the boards, and hit the boards with his hand or fist deliberately - he did not slide into or crash into the boards

I will update as this petition develops.

I hate that it has to be that way. Please sort it out without a scandal!:disapp:

Looks Yuzu and JSF are serious this time.

"I've watched the video and I think that was probably intentional," Hanyu told Japanese media. "But I still shouldn't have got angry at him -- that was pointless." "The Japan Skating Federation is set to file a formal protest to the International Skating Union calling on them to warn Kazakhstan's Ten, who took bronze behind champion Hanyu at the 2014 Sochi Olympics." "According to Japan's Nikkan Sports daily, his latest scare enraged Hanyu, who slammed his fist into the wall and yelled at Ten: "Hey, you, there's no need for that!"

I heard that too on the stream and that was just awesome  I love that step sequence, but to see him pull out all the stops after mama bear yells at him from the sidelines, that alone was worth it to stay up until 4:30 in the morning. Loved it!

Are you guys sure that's Brian? To me it sounds like Yuzu shouting out a war cry as he turns around to enter the step sequence. (Do you guys remember how Scott Moir did something similar in their Carmen free dance?)

Some fans say that yell was probably from Yuzu himself. He shouted くぞ.

The media has already got it wrong, they didn't even collide. The daily mail is a tabloid so it shouldn't be posted here on the site.

Well, then here is the Japanese coverage. I am not good at Japanese. But seems like talking about the same thing. Yuzu did say the he thinks Ten was probably intentional and JSF did file a complaint, right?

As for the English article, seems everyone is picking it from this source: http://www.channelnewsasia.com/news/sport/figure-skating-japan-s/2653204.html

Toilet paper has more value than the DM but oddly enough not their fault this time. It is the AFP story that they are all copying that got the collision part wrong, you can see by AFP below the title. Which overall is probably a bigger problem than if it were just the DM, as AFP is often quoted around, being what it is.

The rest about the complaint had showed up yesterday already and is probably true. They are also quoting Yuzu directly. I do think it should be just left to JSF to handle and that's that now that they've got it covered.
