Yeah, because as Weir said, if the judges had the option to give yuzuru's NHK and GPF's jumping passes +5 they will, because honestly in some of his jumping passes I seriously doubt it could be executed in a way that is much much better than the way he did it. I don't know how this will solve inflation in any way.
Also this whole inflation talk, if it is because yuzuru almost maxed out his layout's score (322 and 330!!), that was because he did it almost perfectly during those times. When he didn't deliver he will get 180+ with the same layout and his PCS would be in the high80s-low 90s (patrick's kind of disastrous skate at oly got 92 PCS anyway so yuzuru getting similar score in a disastrous skate is not really extraordinary). Those kind of performances don't happen every time.

I think the inflation talk is that everybody is getting +3 goe and 10s pcs, not just Yuzuru.

I am not sure about goe, but 10s in pcs is something only the veteran trio (Hanyu-Chan-Fernandez) get as of now, isn't it?
Well either way they can change the system all the time but if the judges still can't restrain themselves in handing out scores it is not going to be much different.

Back on yuzuru, saw in his facebook group that he already started on-ice training. Anyone can confirm this?

Shoma also got some 10s pcs. Judges were handing out GOEs and PCS like candies. That really cheapens the value of +3s and 10s. (The biggest flaw in the system is the way judges are selected, not the guidelines of the judging.) Hopefully, the scores will go down next season.

PCS scoring is joke. I am still shaking my head how other skaters can get the same level of transitions marks as Hanyu, when they are not doing the same level of difficulty of transitions and number of them.

To be fair PCS scoring is a joke, but judges want to be fair, so GOEs are wild as well... some (I'd say the great part) of +3 we have seen since GPF are so lol worthy I just keep shaking my head.

wrong, they want him to tano or rippon all of his jumps to get +5
:roll5::roll5::roll5::roll5:

I guess it has something to do with the broadcast schedule. E.g. they want to shorten the time for broadcast. They changed the skate order draw procedure for the sake of TV rating too.
they already only air the final groups lol
they have been so hellbent in trying to shorten the timing of the program and competition. Spiral sequence for woman was gone before now the men need to suffer too
how I miss spiral sequences :(

ugh I hope not. I had enough of too much arm-flailing, I hope ISU won't encourage skater to do this just so that skater can get higher GOE, it is not necessarily pretty when done too much. Maybe for 1-2 jump is okay but more than that... :ohwell: There is a reason ISU limit illusion as a level feature by now, maybe they will do it too for tano and rippon jumps.

Hopefully we won't need to miss choreo sequence too. Like how dare they, we probably wouldn't have seen the pretty hydroblade and layback ina bauer in seimei had it been abolished :sad21:

Hi everyone it's my first time posting in the GoldenSkate forum, I think I chose a very original thread x)

I was wondering if any of you know the name of the journalist that often interviews Yuzuru since he was like 15 years old. I think it's the one who Yuzuru put his Sotchi gold medal on and he interviews him a lot after competition. And once he asked him if all the bracelets didn't bother him during competition too and Yuzuru was like 'eheehehe".

I wonder if he said anything about witnessing Yuzuru mature substantially over the last few years (probably not because he's a busy journalist who meets thousands people a year but one can hope)

The inflation in those years may reduce w/o the anonymous judging (though I think we will see at least another WR before the Olympics), but they also have to think further ahead, and a reduction in jumping passes is a more drastic measure, even though it will take two more years for it to be applied. But if they are upgrading the GOEs then it's useless. It might be useful if the judges used them accurately, but that will most likely not happen.

I don't think we can expect the judges to voluntarily cure the inflation by themselves. I'm not sure if there is any room for SP WR any more because the BV, GOE and PCS are pretty much maxed out. There is only room for LP WR. I actually hope Yuzuru doesn't break any WR in the Olympic season before the Olympics because that would place too much pressure on him at the Olympic Game.

That's scary to even think about it :drama:

So has anyone heard about Yuzuru returning to the ice as of late?

I got the feeling that since he opted not to go for surgery, he was on complete rest of the left foot and he might have lost muscle mass as a result. That would take some time to build back. I cannot see him skipping the GP as he loves to win the GPF. So far, NHK would work out for him. COR is earlier this season so the French trophy is the latest he could go for GP assignments. (Boyang looks to be a lock for CoC.) Autumn Classic is late September/early October so he may be able to go as he has about 3.5 months from now.

Some fans of YH FB group are saying they read in one skate magazine that the rest period he needed was longer than expected, but he is getting better, doing rehabilitation and has started on-ice training little by little.

I think there is still room for SP WR especially if he is clean clean clean and change his layout a bit. He can change one of his quad to a 4Lo, or backload his jump (maybe 3A and 4-3 in the 2nd half or if he want to go for a crazier layout, 2 quads in the 2nd half lol). Regardless it will still be only about 1-3 points away from his WR. Even if he didn't change his layout though, there is still that Stsq level :laugh2:
If someone want to increase SP WR score drastically, the only plausible way is by doing superhuman stuff like : adding 4A, or doing 4-4 combo

Hello, TerpsichoreFS. Wellcome to the forum!
It’s Shuzo Matsuoka. He is a former tennis player working as a sportscaster for TV Asahi which broadcasts GPS in Japan.
I don’t remember him referring to his thought on witnessing Yuzu getting matured. Shuzo seldom (probably never) treats young athletes as kids. He respects them as an athlete even when they are almost as young as his own children. So I think it would be very rare for us to witness him looking back at Yuzu’s younger days and telling how he feels. However, Shuzo is one of Yuzu’s idol according to Cutting Edge 2012, and his interview with Yuzu is always interesting because Yuzu opens up to him.

Hi guys! It's been a long time and I've missed speaking with you all here :)
I see many people are worried here about Yuzuru's condition (me first) so as I am a physiotherapist student, I can bring a bit of knowledge to maybe try appease some hearts.
The Lisfranc injury is very difficult to diagnose which explains the long time Yuzuru could have been feeling pain but with no specific measures taken. What could have happened here was a worsening of the injury, making it a surgical case. Lisfranc needs surgery when the joint is dislocated, which must not have been the case, the surgery then would be mandatory. The luck is that the skating boot is a huge support for the foot. But of course, when you have an athlete in front of you, and even more -an Olympic champion- you have to consider all the treatment options, to maximize the recovery with the imperatives of the sport.
When not surgical, Lisfranc injury treatment is a splint for 6 weeks, and then physiotherapy. And I can tell you that it's not aimlessly that the team decided to stay in Canada for the treatment, since they have high-level centers and some of the best specialists in this area, I swear.

So let's stay positive, Yuzu is in very good hands, and I wish him all the best :ghug:

Thank you for this! May I ask something? I am actually a bit confused here, is yuzuru's injury a lisfranc injury where his midfoot bone/joint (?) is dislocated/fractured or a lisfranc ligament damage where his lisfranc ligament tore? Or are these two interconnected and principally the same? If not, is the treatment similar? Thanks :thank:
Glad to know Canada has the best specialists in orthopedics and physiotherapy! Hope he can recover fully soon!
