I finally had some free time to watch the SD's and guess who did Yuzu's "mou chotto" move this time? Madison Chock in the K&C

An actual empty stomach or? Interesting. He did say he felt like he didn't have enough energy in the KnC, wonder if it was the also the cause. But they might give him some liquid protein shake or something though (or whatever aminovital stuff he is drinking), so maybe not like with real "empty" stomach.

Going on with empty stomach actually work if you wanted your body to feel lighter especially when you're doing somethings that require speed like running. Although i'm not worldwide athlete like him, sometimes before i going for a run or before a competition i either eat very little or nothing at all. Though it actually depends on the way you condition your body and how your metabolism and digestion works. I remember reading somewhere that mama Hanyu consulted nutritionist regarding his condition with him having slow digestion and all.

NBC just showed the final group for the men's free skate. They were very complimentary to Yuzuru during his skate, but they did get a little annoying concerning Yuzuru during other's freeskate :sarcasm:

Yes, my father is amazed at Pairs, probably because of the throws and lifts. But he's complimentary of mostly anything. He's a math/sciences guy and according to him he "really admires people who has an 'art vein' " or maybe he just wants to please me lol

Showing FS videos to them is always amusing because of comments like "OMG What is this place ? I love her chandelier !"

And when she thought my H&L computer wallpaper was Yuna and said she looked amazing with short hair.

Some new insights into how he prepared for his competition from this article

Rough translation for the interesting part: he has a very slow digestive system/metabolism so there's more than 1kg of food left in his stomach, making his body feel heavy. They discovered that at GPF FP where he didn't perform well. At 4CC he did the free with an empty stomach and was able to do all four quads with a lighter body. He did so again at Worlds.

I hope they feed him afterwards! When did he get to eat!!??

Wow, it just goes to show you that athletes competing at this level really are like fine-tuned machines. All the littlest details matter.

Well, he doesn't have a sport psychologist, or afaik also not signed to a sport management agency like what many top athlete would do, so his not having a dietitian/nutritionist is also a possibility, imo. He also initially was not so fond of physical training/conditioning/off-ice training until Borser persuaded/convinced him to. Especially after that recent article where they said they tried to make him skate with empty stomach so that he can feel lighter, makes me feel like he does not really consult that closely with a nutritionist? Otherwise they would try it much sooner? But better late than never, I guess, It took them a looooong time to figure out how to tune his peaking as well.

Congratulations to Yuzuru and to us in this fanfest for holding it all together even when things looked bleak. We're getting better at this: Meoima and Winnie_20 predicting Yuzuru to win and handomi a WR FP. Prophets and not of doom.

Pamigena and I just don't know how to attend an event without him winning. After the SP I was like, "Well, I never said he would win the SP, just that he would win the gold Worlds medal."

Still bitter this morning I didn't place high bets on the top three, though. I could have been a millionaire now and funded that trip to OS2018 myself!

Apologizing in the post-competition interview for having a "really really bad" short program was...well, very Yuzu-like I hope he knows it wasn't all that bad Well, he should have realized from the crowd reaction (but I will admit, I'll cheer no matter what he does). Maybe what he should apologize for is making his fans so worried we could barely eat or sleep the last two days jk~

True! Oh, what a roller coaster of emotions we had to go through the past few days. But it was all worth it, and to some degree it made it all the more special in the end :agree:

Though I must say, I don't know if I'd like to go through that agony again lol!

Yuzuru seemed a little overwhelmed in all of the post-comp interviews

This was exactly what I wanted, to set the tone for next season. He says he wants to improve his consistancy so he will be training hard but (hopefully) also being careful to avoid injury and keep himself in good health, he will have confidence, and he has focus on that second OGM along with the push from the intensity of competition in the feild. Next season is going to be wild but I think it's going to be a great one for Yuzu.
Also I saw him talking about possibilities of what he wants to do if he decides to continue competing after Pyeongchang increasing difficulty and trying more different styles of music which makes me fel a bit happier like he is a little more likely to stick around a while after PC to compete without a set goal/a lot of pressure to experiment with his skating a little and have a little fun (while he adds a few more titles to his collection XD). Whatever he decides I look forward to seeing what he does but for now I'm just excited for next season!

Just wanted to say that I AM SO PROUD OF YUZURU! HES JUST A GIFT FROM HEAVEN! THAT FREE SKATE WAS SOMETHING ELSE AND IM SO GLAD HES FINALLY SATISFIED AND SMILING AFTER A WHOLE SEASOM OF FRUSTRATION
Hope and Legacy is also my fav program besides Hana Ni Nare so I'm very please he performed it cleanly. (Actually that's an understatement...I cried after he landed that 4S3T and then couldn't stop for the rest of the men's free. Also I'm pretty sure I made my dad a fan of Yuzuru )

Also, I am NOT comparing Yuzuru, a real life skater, to Yuri Katsuki, an anime character, but I do love Yuri's free skate music which is about his skating career and his story, which is also what Yuzuru's H&L is about so I made a little edit of this Hope and Legacy worlds free skate with the Yuri On Ice soundtrack. Hope you enjoy it if u don't then...Well I don't really care
