Hahaha you guys.. I'm always entertained reading your various posts!!

I have downloaded more versions of Yuzu clips/performances to watch later. Also I saw the clip of Yuzu and Patrick conversing like good old buds  I think Yuzu really likes to talk.. with his limited English he's managed to converse that much.. imagine when he's even more fluent in the future.

Just wanna say I'll probably not visit/post again for a while.. because it's getting really hard for me to keep up and comment at the same time. I can make effort on weekends especially if there's a competition.

So.. see you again for WTT I guess?? It's been a really fun weekend with you all!! With an amazing result! Let's hope Yuzu will be able to get the much needed rest and stay healthy~

:ghug:

Anyway, I am so glad that he won this WC. When he goes back home to Sendai to celebrate the opening of that monument of his and Shizuka, it will be really great.

Looking back, in his entire senior career, I think he has never been in a better shape than how he was this season. Outside of AC and SC, the last 4 competitions were all great; he did not make too many mistakes and scored above 290 (above 300 3x times). He did not fall so much aside of 4S3T (lol); the other times he actually fell was on 4t and 3Lz at AC and those 4Lo at SC. His subpar-skates (at SC SP and AC FS) were above expectation considering his struggle and injury prior to the beginning of the season, but even those were not bad.

His jump success rate this season
4Lo (landed) : 10 out of 12 - 83%
4Lo (positive GOE) : 8 out of 12 - 67%
4S (landed+positive GOE) : 6 out of 6 - 100 %
4S3T (landed + positive GOE) : 3 out of 12 - 25%
4T (landed+positive GOE) : 5 out of 6 - 83%
3A (landed) : 18 out of 18 : 100%
3A (positive GOE) : 16/17 out of 18 : 89%

Aside of the 4S3T, not bad huh  ;)

When didn't he get positive GOE on that axel?

The good thing about the low GOEs is that it will be easier for him to break new records next year :agree:

:agree2: I was thinking the same, these scores will give him more motivation to keep breaking his own records :)

I'd rather the boy slipped into his home quietly, but I'm afraid that's unlikely to happen.

I would also hope for this, but nah, highly unlikely especially now he's world champ again. But I think he would also be happy parading that miniscule of a gold medal!

Remember that fantasy protocol I posted a long while ago for his potential SP and FS scores taking into consideration the best GOE he has gotten for each element so far this season? I've updated it with new values from Worlds.

You can check it here.

Of course, if he'd gotten the scores he deserved on some of these elements, we'd be seeing much higher values in this 'fantasy protocol' (and in real protocols).

Hoping for a SP WTT redemption. I don't even care if he does a clean FS again this season but I'd love him to settle his dues with LGC.

This, in particular, is very important for him, I think, because this was his goal for this season: to stabilize his 4Lo. And he did it quicker than he ever did with 4T or 4S, I believe. He used to fall very often on his 4Ts his first two seasons with it, the same with the 4S. 4Lo has been a surprisingly steady jump for him. I guess it helps he has been casually doing it for years before adding it to a program.

A question for those with the technical know-how (because I don't skate  haha), but was there any changes (from previous competitions) on how he approached that combo-of-doom during the Worlds LP? Because I'm still amazed on how he beautifully executed that jump. I was watching the fancam on YouTube and thinking that he approached the jump with much more speed (but what do I know :scratch3: haha) so just curious :dance2:

Yep. He has been doing it for years and landed 4Lo a lot in ice shows though, so I always believed it won't take as long as the 4S. About the 4S3T, I don't think it is the problem of the 4S per se, but he is still adjusting himself and not used to doing 4-3 combo in the second half. Even when it was still 4T3T, the success rate was also not high (he only landed it cleanly at NHK and GPF in fact).

I am curious about how he will approach next season now. He realized now more than ever that it is so important to be clean rather than having higher BV but performing them with 1 mistake (he said it in the interview in fact, it is difficult to be clean; he does not know yet what he would do next season). Had Javi been clean I think the judges would give it to Javi instead. Boyang received his PB with a watered down layout (last year's layout) too. But he also knows that he can't approach the next skating season with the hope of many others with higher BV making a mistake. So it will be interesting

I think it will depend a lot on what Shoma might plan. And Nathan. But mostly Shoma. Shoma is the most direct adversary he has right now, both in BV, GOEs and PCS, even more than Javi, unless Javi adds a 4Lo. But yeah, in order to stabilize his layout, does he keep his BV in order to go clean more often and risk being potentially 10-15 points lower in BV than Nathan Chen? Or if Shoma adds a 4S and goes for 5 quads, can Yuzu risk the lower BV in that case too, even with the expected instability that layout might have at the beginning? 4Lz would give him a lot of freedom in terms of his BV and layout (as he could start with a 4-different quad layout and if necessary, YOLO a repeat quad without losing his two 3As). But, as he said, it will all depend on how things go in training and what the success rate of that is.

I doubt Yuzu will keep his layout and not even try the 4lz at some point... if it doesn't work, he could go back to a watered down layout anyway. He saw too how close Shoma was (despite Shoma actually making more mistakes than him) - I doubt he wants to bet on Shoma making mistakes. Case in point: his last seasons LP layout in clean would not have been enough to win after the SP.

The good thing about the low GOEs is that it will be easier for him to break new records next year :agree:

Or at WTT. Yuzu also broke WRs twice in a row, so theoretically, it would be his thing
