On a side note, his hair still looked great!

I've only seen results and not pictures. Is there video uploaded yet?

I only care more for these minor competitions because he clearly does. I want him to be satisfied with his skating. It's sad that the SP king suddenly feels he's not good at what's been the most reliable thing for him in his career thusfar (if you count clean shorts vs. clean longs). I love LGC and wouldn't mind him keeping it at all, but if he needs something to give him better mojo then so be it.

Ya I think he just needs a different SP, seriously.

it seems his mind went overthinking mode again. it's tough to battle your own demon. it's kinda ironic because he is in a good shape, but his mind is not :/ in the past, his mental strength always kept him going when his physical condition wasn't good. it's a learning experience, the good thing is they have time to address the issue on the SP and work on it before the Olympics. they either change it or rework the layout. Yuzu might just keep the SP for the Olympics to prove himself and change the layout into harder tech (like Chopin v.2). Because it's Yuzu  but yeah, who knows. I'm actually want a different SP.

i hope he will calm down and enjoy himself for the LP. it was tough to see the SP just now, but there is always a fighting chance during LP :ghug:

In past interviews he's talked about getting a good physical and mental balance. And how important it is to him. If his Physical state can match his mind, he can perform well and vis-versa. If hes body is relaxed and his mind is not, if his mind is relaxed but his body is not, then things go wrong.

I hope he enjoys H&L tomorrow no matter the placement (yes, I know he always wants to win) with no regrets and feeling sorry. Since there is no podium it is not really necessary to catch up.

Ok, so we should show him that we are not actually down, shouldn't we? Let's go positive! I mean, really, to look objectively, it's kinda a small nuisance, nothing more. Let's be happy again for our World champion!:thank:

Can we all send him a virtual group hug? He goes into depression mode when something goes badly and it ain't good, I wish he just talked to psychologist about his over-the-top expectations he has for himself because they are not healthy. I sincerely hope his team cheers him up for tommorow so he can enjoy H&L

That was heartbreaking... I honestly don't think any of his fans cared as much as he did about the result...

In a way, I kind of expected him to pop the quad loop... eveyone's been saying how awesome it became so quickly, that it seemed bound to happen :(

I tend to think his mind might be his weakest point right now. And I get it, it's hard to will yourself not to think or not to stress or not to be intense, when it's been in your nature to do so all your life - especially the intense part. But if he could learn to get into that "it zone" all the time, or even most of the time, I think he'd be unbeatable...

For now, maybe a solution would be to focus more on enjoying the skating, rather than skating clean. I think he's more likely to find himself skating clean programs when he just has fun with them, than when he's aiming for perfection...

But before that, I hope he doesn't spend tonight watching his SP over and over again, and gets some rest instead... I wonder if he might go crazy tomorrow... he doesn't really have anything to lose... (well, except if he goes really crazy and injures himself >.< *knock on wood*)

Having Yuzu compete means having more practice footage. My favorite thing in the world, besides the actual performance. -A positive thing. :ghug:
-More pages are added to this thread and we all get to know each other better...all our different reactions to his performances and what we each like about it.
-We share the highs and the lows together and that makes watching skating so much more fun! -Or in the times when Yuzu doesn't do well, more bearable.

-A personal plus, but whenever Yuzu performs, I lose weight due to stress. I never have to diet. I just wait till Yuzu's next competition. I gain a bit of weight in the summer though.

Full version of his commenst after the SP
Glad to know he is in the fighting mode again :2thumbs:.

Thank you!

Ah he's a kind soul, isn't he? Oh Yuzuru, only he would put such additional pressure on himself due to the anniversary. But as I said, he's sad, then he gets angry, then he moves on. It's all good.
It's not the best of circumstances due to JSF but honestly, sod that. He deserves a vacation after this season and all the troubles. I hope he can have a nice FS for his own sake, then he should just let his wonderful, complicated, brain rest. At least for a day. Hey, I figure, that's actually optimistic.

He sounds so depressed :'(

Former psychiatric nurse here and to me he looked very depressed prior to skating today.

I've been worried about Yuzu's state of mind since Worlds 2016: I was watching backstage streaming on IN and there was a shot of him standing, all alone, with a look on his face that reminded me of Gracie Gold's "look of doom." I had never seen him look like that before and it was quite startling. And since then, he hasn't really seemed quite the same to me. Having to carry his and everyone else's expectations of perfection around cannot be good for his mental or physical health. And he's been doing this for how many years now?

I feel like Yuzu loses perspective real fast but I hope he can quicky gain perspective back again? Hopefully Tracy can chat with him or Brain can face time him, or his mum, or his team, or whoever is around that knows him and can comfort him.
Like, the sp was a disaster, no denying. But...even after making huge mistakes on his jumps he got level 4s on all his spins and his stsq so, that's something at least. He didn't brain himself on the 4s, that's something.
But him saying he has an image of not being good at SP... It's almost funny because sure this season he's not nailed his SP but up til 4CC/Worlds the SP was probably his stronger program this season? Most of his WRs have been set on SPs. His popularity exploded because of an SP...I don't have an image of someone who's week at the Short at all. It's hard and rare to do two clean/perfect programs and accidents/errors will be there. That's life, that's the nature of the sport. On the whole I think Yuzu is pretty strong at SP. Just maybe not this one maybe not this season, definately not this competition.

He popped 4lo in the warmup, right? So I kind of expected it in the SP, I don't know why, maybe there was a moment of hesitation before. Mentally he wasn't there. So no LGC next season, please. Too much regrets and he is so sensitive to mental things unfortunately. It worked with Chopin but not necesarily with LGC.

I feel so sad for him :(
I wondered if something bad upsetted him beforehand or if it was just pressure ?
In any case, ganbatte Yuzuru ! Bombing at WTT is the best moment for bombing, and you can't be perfect everytime, nobody can well, except Zhenia.

I had the same feeling ... He was way too serious from the beginning...
Well, that's what it is ... Hope he can talk with Brian on the phone ortherwise, Tracy can cheer him too and tomorow to have a performance with which he can be pleased ...

LOL it happened to me after Boston (sorry!). I was trying to lose weight for many years but nothing worked. And then...a miracle happened. But I don't want to lose weight this way anymore :drama: I think gold works even better .

Yes! And those practices were a real treat! We know how hard he was working, that he did everything possible. May he just tried too much this time :p Anyway Yuzuru is still the best and noone is even close to him! :luv17:
